Former Nigeria international striker Julius Aghahowa has advised the Super Eagles to continue to show their unwavering commitment and never to underrate South  Africa when both clash  in tomorrow’s semi-final clash in Bouake.

Aghahowa who reacted to the performance of the Super Eagles so far in the ongoing (AFCON), noted that the boys are doing very well and they have proving him and others wrong.

The former Shakhtar Donetsk star said he was impressed  with the performances of the Super Eagles  thus far at the ongoing  AFCON 2023,urging the coach José Peseiro-led side to keep up with their hard work in order to come out victorious.

While commending the commitment of the Super Eagles Aghahowa noted  while speaking on Brila FM, that wearing the national jersey requires more than j skills, stressing the players should not depend on past glory against the Bafana Bafana  but to work on their weakness and approach that game with a winning  mentality and sense of responsibility.

“The players’ level of commitment particularly when playing in Africa is very crucial,” noted Aghahowa who played 32 matches and scored 14 goals for the Nigerian national team during his heyday. “Competing in Africa present different difficulties such as facing home-based players who want to prove themselves to  the world and bring in a strong sense of national pride to the game.

“When other African countries are  playing against Nigeria, there often put up strong fights to gain recognition on the global stage.

“I believe every team that has come this far, they deserve their place and so they should not look down on any team. Nigeria can beat South Africa likewise South Africa can also beat Nigeria,” he noted.

He warned further: “Any team that has gotten to this point is a very strong side. So the hard work that has gotten them thus far, they should continue doing the hard work.

“I am optimistic about the super Eagles chances at the AFCON, the players are well talented, and they have the capacity to deliver,” Aghahowa added.
