    Ahmed Musa leads Eagles’ tributes

    SUPER Eagles players have expressed shock and disbelief over the demise of another prominent coach, Shuaibu Amodu.

    Eagles vice-captain Ahmed Musa told AfricanFootball.com he is shocked to hear the news of the death of another coach after Keshi and prayed God grant Amodu eternal rest.

    “I am yet to get out of the shock over Stephen Keshi’s death when I heard coach Amodu Shuaibu is dead. This is too much for the football family, it’s shocking. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” Ahmed Musa said.

    Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi towed the same line with Ahmed Musa as he described as “sad” a week in which two of Nigeria’s top coaches died.

    “Rest in peace sir, frustrating and sad week for us. Lord have mercy. Onazi tweeted.

    Brown Ideye tweeted: “Shuaibu Amodu dead!! When we are still mourning the death of Keshi,so painful.”

    Leon Balogun further said, “It’s just sad – with Amodu we lost another legend to Nigerian football. May your souls rest in heavenly peace RIPKeshi, RIPAmodu.”

    Monaco left back Elderson Echiejile said he cannot believe another icon was gone forever.

    “Another big loss! This is shocking, I can’t believe it. He was a disciplinarian, father & a mentor. #RIPAmodu #EUE3,” Echiejile tweeted.

    I will be happy to join Leicester – Musa

    Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa is keen on joining Leicester City, if the Premier League champions can reach an agreement with his Russian club, CSKA Moscow.

    Musa, 23, scored 13 goals in 30 games in the Russian league this season and was recently the subject of a bid of around €30 million from the Foxes, according to club’s coach Leonid Slutsky.

    Both clubs are in advanced talks while Musa is holidaying in Nigeria, and the player told ESPN FC he is looking forward to the switch

    “They have been talking since January, but it didn’t happen,” he said. “Now, I’m just waiting for them to finish. If they agree, why not? I’ll be happy to join.”

    Musa has been excused from Nigeria’s friendlies with Mali and Luxembourg to take part in a testimonial game for former Nigeria captain, Joseph Yobo, and he paid tribute to his ex-teammate.

    “Yobo is a great guy,” he added. “And the fact that so many players are here from different generations of Nigerian football, shows the kind of person he is.”

    Russian champions CSKA Moscow on Monday confirmed interests from England for Nigeria international Ahmed Musa, but said nothing has been signed yet.

    Musa has been the subject of interest from English champions Leicester City, with several other clubs also mentioned to be interested in his services.

    “I cannot say yes or no.  It is no secret that Musa was and remains in very serious demand, particularly from the English teams,” africanFootball.com quoted CSKA chief Roman Babayev as saying to championat.

    “Until documents are signed, the transfer is not complete and I will not speak about it.”

    Super Eagles winger, Ahmed Musa, has predicted a tough time for CSKA Moscow in Saturday’s game against rivals Lokomotiv in the Russian Premier League, but is hopeful that the Army Men will get the three points.

    CSKA Moscow heads into the fixture atop the standings with 46 points, while Lokomotiv lies fourth with 42 points.

    “It will be very hard match with top contender. We are preparing very seriously, working in training. We understand that a lot is at stake, and we need three points,” allnigeriasoccer.com quoted Musa as saying to sport-express.ru.

    “We will try to do everything in our power, give all forces and hopefully win.

    Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has been handed a major injury boost with news that CSKA Moscow frontman, Ahmed Musa has resumed full training with the Russian Premier League side after picking up an injury last weekend.

    Musa, 23, is in line to feature in the top division on Saturday against Kuban as he trained without feeling any discomfort today.

    “Ahmed Musa, who was injured in the game with Rostov practiced along with other players (on Tuesday) ,” CSKA Moscow stated on their official webpage.

    The Super Eagles skipper has been involved in 20 games in the Premier League in the ongoing campaign, scoring seven goals.

    Musa is set to add to his international caps in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.

    Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, is eyeing a dream move to English Premier League side, Arsenal amidst interest for his services from Leicester City.

    The CSKA Moscow star admitted that he has been supporting Arsenal for about 17 years and idolizes one of the club’s legends, Nwankwo Kanu.

    “What club? I do not care, but Musa has to play. You know I cannot sit on the bench. Therefore, I will have to go to the Premier League club that will believe in me,” allnigeriasoccer.com quoted Musa as saying to championat.com.

    Director General of CSKA Moscow, Roman Babayev, has said the club will listen to offers for Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, when the transfer market reopens in June.

    CSKA Moscow, allnigeriasoccer.com reports will accept bids in the region of 24 million euros for Musa.

    The club turned down at least two bids from English Premier League side, Leicester City in the winter transfer market because officials were not prepared to sell the winger this season.

    “It is not right to keep the player when he has offers from the Premier League for the right price,” allnigeriasoccer.com quoted Babayev as saying to championat.com.

    “Several English clubs are actively interested in Musa. And not just English sides. Footballer faithfully served CSKA and not to let him go to the best league of the world from our side would be incorrect.”

    The president of CSKA Moscow, Yevgeny Giner, on Friday said bigger clubs than the English Premier League side, Leicester City, will come for Nigeria skipper Ahmed Musa in the summer.

    Leicester tabled an 18 million pounds bid for Musa in January and is reportedly ready to spend more in the summer to get CSKA Moscow star, africanFootball.com reports.

    Manchester United has also been linked with the 23-year-old striker, whose release clause is estimated at 23 million pounds.

    “Musa is a strong forward who can cover three positions and I’m sure that in the summer, there will be bigger clubs coming in for him,” Giner said.

    The CSKA chief also revealed he blocked the Nigeriam star from moving last month because he is crucial to the team’s push for the Russian league title.

    “We talked to Musa and he understood that he needed to finish the season with us because we stand a good chance of becoming champions,” he said.

    Leicester City are preparing a £23million bid for Nigerian attacker Ahmed Musa in the European summer, according to the Mirror.

    Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri tried to lure Musa to the King Power Stadium in the recent January transfer window, but the player’s Russian club CSKA Moscow refused to sell.

    CSKA are currently top of the Russian Premier League and face Dynamo Kiev in the last 16 round of the UEFA Champions League – they believe that allowing Musa to leave would hurt their ambitions for the remainder of the season.

    Musa, who has scored 10 goals across all competitions this season, reminded CSKA of his worth with a goal to help beat Valarenga in a friendly last Wednesday.

    The Russian club is trying to persuade Musa, who signed a new four-year deal last year, that he should remain with them for the duration of his contract and even beyond.

    But the player is understood to have his heart set on a move to the Premier League and has been assured that Ranieri is impressed enough by him to continue his pursuit.

    Leicester had bids of £15million and £18.7million turned down for Musa last month. Stoke and Southampton are also reportedly interested in the Nigerian.

    English Premier League side, Leicester City, has not ended the interest in Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, though the club missed out on his signature during the winter transfer window.

    The Daily Mirror claimed “The Foxes” will make a fresh bid of 30 million euros for the CSKA Moscow striker in the summer after the initial offers of € 20 million and €25 million were rejected by his club last month.

    Leicester City may feature in the UEFA Champions League next season and manager Claudio Ranieri wants to bolster his striking department with the signing of Musa, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

    The former VVV Venlo star was also linked with Manchester United and Southampton last month.

    He has a valid contract with CSKA Moscow until 2019.
