    Aiyedatiwa presents N384b budget proposal

Ondo State Acting Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has presented a budget proposal of N384,533,000,000 for 2024 fiscal year.

This was against the N275,979,184,000.00 budgeted for the 2023 fiscal year.

Tagged: ‘Budget of Economic Resilience’, Aiyedatiwa said the budget contained reasonable increase in the personnel estimates to cover the imminent wage increase for workers.

According to the Ondo 2024 budget proposal, the infrastructural development sector has the highest allocation of N95,482,176,340.36, which represented 24.8 per cent,  while the education sector got N47,729,164,261.85, representing 12.4 per cent.

Aiyedatiwa said granting highest allocation to infrastructural development was to stimulate the economy in 2024.

“The current national and global economic realities point to reason why we must consciously and programmatically re-arrange our fiscal priorities to target the growth drivers of our economy, so as to quickly fix and reflate the economy, to keep it afloat.

“We are aware of the negative impacts of fuel subsidy removal and floating exchange rate on the people.  All these are put into consideration while projecting for expenditure in this budget.”

Aiyedatiwa sought the continuous partnership of the citizens to make the state run smoothly in line with the mindset of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

“The challenges that lie ahead in the incoming year dictate that we should all work together, as we seek to create an enduring economy for our dear state, knowing that whatsoever we do today will be referenced tomorrow.”

Speaker Olajidi Olamide said the Assembly would pass the budget before December 31.

He said the accelerated passing of the budget was because it was expected to begin operation in January 2024.

APC chieftain cautions Aiyedatiwa against reshuffling cabinet

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state, Sola Ajisafe, has cautioned the acting governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, against reshuffling the cabinet to favour his supporters in the government.

Ajisafe said he has uncovered plans by Aiyedatiwa to undermine Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who is on medical vacation.

The APC chieftain stated that there were plans by Aiyedatiwa to redeploy the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Princess Oladunni Odu to the Ministry of Commerce while the commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa would be posted to the Ministry of Culture and tourism.

Speaking in a radio programme in Akure, Ajisafe said any act to reshuffle the cabinet by Aiyedatiwa was contrary to the 1999 constitution and a breach of the agreement reached with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the peace meeting held in Abuja.

He said: “Section 190 of the Constitution did not give the Deputy Governor the power to reshuffle the cabinet. The section gives the Acting Governor to right to act on behalf of the governor not to override the decisions of the governor. There can’t be two governors at the same time.

“Recent actions and the protest by non-state actors demanding the resignation of Akeredolu showed that Aiyedaiwa wanted to succeed his boss through any means.

“The first time President Tinubu summoned the gladiators to Abuja, there was no effort on the part of the Acting Governor as the leader of the state to reconcile all warring factions.

“When they returned from Abuja the second term and Aiyedatiwa was made the Acting Governor, these people said Akeredolu was incapacitated and that he should relinquish the seat.

“Section 189 of the constitution talked about permanent incapacitation, not as freely being used by these people. These are the people who are pushing an agenda capable of rocking the boat of progress in Ondo state.”

Aiyedatiwa could not be reached for comments as he has yet to name his official spokesman.

  • Challenges before Aiyedatiwa

    Challenges before Aiyedatiwa

This is not the first time Lucky Aiyedatiwa would be performing the function of a governor in acting capacity. Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has always transmitted power to him whenever he was going on annual vacation. It was a system that flowed with the ‘one administration’ mantra of Akeredolu.

However, the manner some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and supporters of Aiyedatiwa celebrated his new role as Acting Governor confirmed a crack in the ruling party.

The relationship between Aiyedatiwa and Akeredolu hit the rock when the governor travelled to Ibadan to take ‘some rest.’ Aiyedatiwa was accused of plotting to unseat Akeredolu after he failed to see him when he took some files to Ibadan. He was alleged to have shared positions to his allies for support. Akeredolu eventually began medical leave and handed power to Aiyedatiwa.

Reports in some national dailies and social media accused some cabal of frustrating Aiyedatiwa’s performance as Acting Governor although Aiyedatiwa was also accused of not issuing any directive that was not obeyed. During Akeredolu’s three months medical leave, the State Executive Council met only once.

The return of Akeredolu in September widened the gulf in the relationship as the Ondo Assembly made moves to impeach Aiyedatiwa. The frosty relationship collapsed governance in the state even as allegations of forgery of Akeredolu’s signature was raised. It was the intervention of President Bola Tinubu amidst public outcry that has doused tension in the state.

The question on the lips of many political observers is whether there is any new role for Aiyedatiwa now as Acting Governor other than what he has been doing in his previous outing whenever Akeredolu embarked on vacation.

To some, the belief that Akeredolu might not make it back alive would empower Aiyedatiwa to take drastic measures that would entrench him in power ahead of next year’s governorship primary. Some analysts are of the opinion that Aiyedatiwa can now curb the powers of the cabal and take far reaching decisions if he could not reach his boss for guidance.

Several social engagements of Aiyedatiwa’s supporters showed thet want him to assert his authority and shove Akeredolu’s men aside. Many non-political actors who supported him during his battles against impeachment, want him to not only assert himself but provide good governance.

According to human rights lawyer and activist, Tope Temokun, “If Ayedatiwa wants to please individuals  and refuse to appreciate the enormous powers the constitution has donated to him and fail to exercise his full powers to set the state on the path of good governance and refuse to have a mind of his own, he will end up in disgrace because the people will rise up against him and no one will save him.”

Convener of the Ondo Liberation Initiative (OLI) Alabi Johnson, said Aiyedatiwa used to depend on his boss in his previous outing as Acting Governor but that he is now independent.

“Acting Governor is a Governor. He can hire and fire. He can do whatever a Governor does in other states. Our agitation was for things to be normal. We are watching him. We want him to do things that will touch the lives of the people.”

A university lecturer, Dr. Gbenga Abimbola, said there used to be mutual trust between Aiyedatiwa and his boss in previous times when the Governor embarked on vacation. He said incidents of the last three months has caused lots of distrust.

“They have no option than to work with Aiyedatiwa. Aiyedatiwa might have learnt a lot of lessons from his previous outing as Acting Governor. He is going to be a better Acting Governor. He can take decisions to the effect that it is to the interest of the state.

“He cannot work in isolation. He will consult his boss if he has access. The law allows him to take certain decisions. He is exercising the office of the governor on behalf of Akeredolu so he can take far reaching decisions.”

A chietain of the APC who pleaded anonymity said the actions of Aiyedatiwa was to enable him check the books to ensure the proper thing was done as regards local government fund.

“Many people are feeling that they froze the account for them to check all the papers to ensure the proper thing was done.

“People felt that that cabal was having a field day with the allocation of the local counils. At this time  we need money to celebrate Christmas but it it good the proper thing is done.”

Fear gripped political appointees in the state over the next action of Aiyedatiwa when Caretaker Chairmen of the local councils received a message that purportedly emanated from Aiyedatiwa’s office asking them to stop further expenditure from the councils’ account.

The newly created LCDAs were reportedly asked not to open new accounts. A message to the local councils reads,  “Distinguished HOLGAs, Your Excellency the Acting Governor of Ondo state had directed that all spending/ expenditure from local government account should be suspended, no signing of cheques, no change of signatories,no withdrawal of any sort until further directive.

“Please adhere strictly to instruction and be guided.”

A Caretaker Chairman who confirmed receiving the message said the development was worrisome and a ploy to go after those that managed affairs of the councils in the last three months.

The Caretaker Chairman who pleaded anonymity said Aiyedatiwa made the move to assert authority in line with his vision as well as cut a niche for himself.

“Yes, he has blocked account of the local government. He is doing it to make the Caretaker Chairmen fall in line ahead of the party primary next year. He believes the local government fund has been diverted.

“Tactically, he is trying to assert his own authority to make things work in his favour. He blocked accoount of local government which is the grassroot. He is doing to make the Caretaker Chairmen fall in line with him.

“He believes  the local government funds have been diverted. I think it is a ploy to indict his contenders at the primary so that they would not contest against him.

“The first challenge is that Tinubu has told him not to witch hunt and do anything that will not go down well with party members. We know he has the reason to do what he is doing.

“What we are seeing is that he is working against what Akeredolu stood for. He cannot bring vengeance to governance.”

A letter addressed to members of the State Executive Council and top government functionaries further heightened tension. The official said cabinet members had worked together as a team whenever Akeredolu transmitted power to Aiyedatiwa

The letter signed by Omojuwa Olusegun reads,   “The Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has directed me to inform all Members of the State Executive Council and Top Government Functionaries that the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor would be responsible for the preparation and signing of his official engagements for the time being.

“The Chief of Protocol would take charge of this responsibility as soon as Mr. Governor resumes from his medical vacation.”

To many APC members, this directive by Aiyedatiwa was to enable him secure loyalty and consolidate himself in power. Another source said Aiyedatiwa was not happy that he was not consulted nor asked to nominate any of the Caretaker Committee including in his Ilaje local government area.

A close ally of Aiyedatiwa said the move was to consolidate his hold on power ahead of the governorship primary scheduled for April next year. A top government functionaries said the steps taken by Aiyedatiwa was being viewed as going after those that might contested the primary against him.

Ondo Commissioner in the Oil and Gas Producing Areas Commission (OSOPADEC) Kehinde Akinrotoye, said many supporters of Aiyedatiwa were already penciled to be sacked ahead of the governorship primary.

“He is fully in charge now and in control of this state. This issue of cabal is no more.”

Another APC chieftain, Kunle Segun Odidi, said Aiyedatiwa will not derail from the vision of Akeredolu but would add more value towards the goods of the state.

On the Caretaker Chairmen, he said, “The swearing in conducted for the Caretaker Committee was illegal. There is a court order that said the Committee should not be inaugurated. You cannot build something on nothing. If Aiyedatiwa is a product of the rule of law he should follow the law. I do not expect him to be doing something ultra vires.

“I know by the provision of the Constitution, once a power if transmitted, he posses all powers snd rights and privileges of the Governor. I did not see any challenge. It is expected  to support the Acting Governor until the substantive Governor resume. He should be supported. It is for the system and not for Aiyedatiwa. Ondo State belongs to all of us. We must look beyond sentiments. He is expected to follow the mission and vision of the Governor. I do not see Aiyedatiwa derailing from Akeredolu but adding more value towards the goods of the state.”

Aiyedatiwa free to make changes, says commissioner

Ondo State Government has said Acting Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was prepared to make necessary change that would guarantee effective running of the Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration.

It said reports of freezing of local government accounts and suspension if Akeredolu’s Chief of Protocol were false and misleading.

Supporters of Aiyedatiwa had celebrated the freezing of local government account as an action taken to check the cabal in Akeredolu’s exco.

Caretaker Committee chairmen had received a message from the office of the acting governor asking them to stop all expenditure and not to open new accounts.

The message said: “Distinguished HOLGAs, Your Excellency the Acting Governor of Ondo State had directed that all spending/ expenditure from local government account should be suspended, no signing of cheques, no change of signatories, no withdrawal of any sort until further directive.

“Please adhere strictly to instruction and be guided.”

Deputy Chief of Staff,  Omojuwa Olusegun, in a letter to members of the State Executive Council and top government functionaries, said Aiyedatiwa has directed him to take responsibility  for the preparation and signing of his official engagements.

According to the letter, “the Acting Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has directed me to inform all members of the State Executive Council and top government functionaries that the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor would be responsible for the preparation and signing of his official engagements for the time being.

“The Chief of Protocol will take charge of this responsibility as soon as Mr. Governor resumes from his medical vacation.”

Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, in a statement, said there was no time the Acting Governor or any functionary of the state put a freeze on local government accounts or order any closure.

The commissioner said necessary complimentary civil servants have been deployed to the LCDA(s) and that the state government was committed to proper functioning of the 33 LCDA(s) and the existing 18 local governments to enhance development at the grassroots.

She said the circular by Omojuwa was misrepresented to the effect that the Chief of Protocol (CoP) to the Governor, Mr. Bola Alabi, has been placed on suspension.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. The Chief of Protocol to Mr Governor has not been placed on suspension by the Ag. Governor or by any person.

“It should be noted that the schedule for the preparation of Mr. Governor’s Engagements is less than two per cent of the CoP’s responsibilities.

“Usually, suspension from duty would have warranted removal of salary and privileges, which does not happen in this case. As we speak, Mr. Bola Alabi is busy with Mr. Governor. Nevertheless, His Excellency, the Ag. Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, is prepared, where necessary, to make changes that will guarantee the effective running of the administration.”

  • At last, Ondo’s Aiyedatiwa gets his wish

At last, Ondo’s Aiyedatiwa gets his wish

After many months of stonewalling by supporters of ailing Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu and pushfulness by the ambitious and impatient deputy governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the political imbroglio that had stymied development in the state has been finally put to some rest. It is not the kind of solution stakeholders longed for, nor the kind of truce that would conduce to long-running peace in both the state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling party, but everyone involved in the crisis since it began early this year will for now heave a tentative sigh of relief. Whether he likes it or not, the governor is for now out of the immediate picture. He will stay fairly numbed on hospital beds in Germany or any other place he chooses. But for the ambitious deputy governor, who will now act as governor in line with his desire, he will call the shots as extravagantly as his fiery nature is accustomed. To the chagrin of the Akeredolu crowd, the new acting governor has the constitution fully and unsentimentally on his side.

The story of Ondo State since Mr Akeredolu fell ill early this year has been a very uninspiring one – not for him, of course, but for his deputy. The governor had had a culture of transmitting power to Mr Aiyedatiwa whenever he left for extended periods, and had done so when his ordeal with health challenges became public. But things quickly soured and his last medical trip abroad was cut short in September reportedly to checkmate the ambition, irreverence and iconoclasm of his deputy. But hobbled by failing health, the governor was clearly and humiliatingly unable to mount the kind of challenge to his deputy he would have loved to muster. It was at that point that his longsuffering cabinet and animated legislators came to his defence by denouncing Mr Aiyedatiwa and describing him as culturally uncouth and even fetishistic. It was not clear how they came to the latter conclusion, but being naturally superstitious, they had little trouble in psychoanalysing the rampaging deputy governor’s methods and motivations.

Once the die was cast in September, the state legislature moved against the deputy governor, tried to inveigle the courts to do their bidding, and hoped they could make a short work of the entire process in impeaching him. They did not count on a finicky judiciary, nor waited to form an opinion on how they would proceed should the intransigent Mr Aiyedatiwa stand pat. In the event, their quarry stood like an aurochs, met them measure for countermeasure, scorned their legislative and judicial efforts, and survived long enough to hurl his own stones and boulders at their unprotected heads. President Bola Tinubu tried to break the stalemate, but the animosity had festered for far too long in those dangerous few months that the deputy governor became emboldened enough to unleash a fearsome undertow of plots against his enemies. The legislature was transfixed.

Finally, either because he had stayed away too long from his hospital bed in Germany or because his deputy governor’s bitter rivalry had put too much pressure on his organs, the governor, while still hibernating in Ibadan, Oyo State, had begun to decline in health precipitously. The deputy governor sensed he would outlast the governor and he turned on the screw a little bit more. The governor’s minders finally knew the game was up and capitulated. If they didn’t evacuate him to Germany quickly enough, all hope would be lost, for already questions were being asked as to the integrity of his signatures on official documents, not to say rumours about his health. If they waited a little more, rumours about his death would begin to circulate. They thus threw in the towel, got him to transmit power by any means – and no questions would be asked about whether the signature was his or not – and the legislature accented to the deputy governor’s leadership in acting capacity. That was all Mr Aiyedatiwa wanted anyway.

It is unknown whether nature would requite the deputy governor’s effrontery. Should that happen, Mr Akeredolu would return at an appropriate moment to scupper his deputy’s ambition. If not, the immoderate acting governor will probably bludgeon the cabinet, seduce the party to his side or neutralise its apparatchiks, amputate or decapitate those who might wish to contest against him next year in the governorship primary, and prepare himself for an epic showdown with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He may be uncouth and witless, but he knows enough to understand that just as it happened in Kogi State in the last APC governorship primary, all he needs to do is present his party with a fait accompli, and neither the Ondo APC nor the unphilosophical big guns in the APC in Abuja would have any option but to endorse him. Sadly, in whatever way it is considered, Ondo State, like Kogi State, will next year sail between Scylla and Charybdis. Their more predictable governor is ailing, with little hope of recovery on time enough to relieve them of their great moral burden, and they may be forced to endorse and even embrace wholeheartedly the political pantomime in the State House if they are not to be skinned alive and eviscerated by the more ruthless PDP.

Ondo has tragically come to a pretty pass. Yes, it may not be on the tragicomic scale of Rivers State, where the boisterous ex-governor Nyesom Wike also endorsed the astonishing misfit Siminalayi Fubara, but Mr Akeredolu’s poor judgement in selecting a deputy and casting him as his successor is also being requited very badly. At his resumption of office as acting governor last Thursday, Mr Aiyedatiwa, as ruefully as his little talent could carry him, said: “It is in this regard that we admit with all sense of responsibility that the intrigues that ensued due to Mr. Governor’s health challenges were indeed avoidable distractions. We ought to have done better to keep giving Ondo State the seamless and solid governance which Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had established in the state in the last six-and-a-half years. I cannot but specially appreciate the third arm of government, the Judiciary through the honourable Chief Judge, for its courage, commitment and dedication to protecting democracy and the constitution of the nation.”

Ignore Mr Aiyedatiwa’s triumphalism. What he didn’t say is that he was the progenitor of the intrigues. His cynical praise of the judiciary was triggered by the extremely cautious state’s chief judge who was too finicky to decide one way or the other whether to accede to the legislature’s objective of impeaching the unruly Mr Aiyedatiwa. Historians have always wondered what the world would look like had Adolf Hitler been killed during the Munich putsch of 1923, or if Gen Hindenburg had not appointed him as Chancellor in 1933, or if, after everything had seemed to fail, the plot anchored by Col Claus von Stauffenberg in 1944 had succeeded in blasting off the Fuhrer at Wolf’s Lair in Poland during World War II. What if Mr Aiyedatiwa had been impeached?

Political appointees in Ondo State, particularly the newly appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen of the 18 local governments and the 33 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), have been gripped by fear  as Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa  consolidates  his hold on power.

He has already directed the LG bosses to stop all expenditure until further notice.

The Caretaker Committee Chairmen were appointed by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who is currently on medical leave.

Ayedatiwa, The Nation gathered, had sent a  text message to the Caretaker  Committee Chairmen  saying  “ all spending/ expenditure from local government account should be suspended, no signing of cheques, no change of signatories, no withdrawal of any sort until further directive. Please adhere strictly to instruction and be guided.”

A senior government official who spoke on condition of anonymity said the acting governor took the action in conformity  with a subsisting court order on the swearing-in of the caretaker chairmen.

“The caretaker chairmen can’t sign any document for now because there is a court order on the issue of the local governments, so if they sign any document now, that would be a contempt of court,” the official said.

“As at now, they have not been given any confirmation or directive to attend to any official matter. It is until the court order is vacated that they can function officially. The acting governor didn’t freeze the council’s account, it’s not true.”

However, another source said Aiyedatiwa could  sack the Caretaker Chairmen on the basis of the court order which stopped their inauguration by the state government.

The court injunction was  secured by the Ondo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

However, the LG bosses were asked to assume duties on the ground  that they had been sworn-in during screening by the State House of Assembly.

A source said Aiyedatiwa was not happy that he was not consulted or asked to make an input during the process that led to the emergence of the appointees.

A close ally of Aiyedatiwa said the acting governor needed to consolidate his hold on power  ahead of the April governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A Caretaker Chairman who confirmed the freezing of expenditure by the LGs  said it might affect workers’ celebration this yuletide season.

He described the development as worrisome.

“Yes, he has blocked the accounts of the local governments,” the source said.

“He (Ayedatiwa)  is doing it to make the Caretaker Chairmen fall in line ahead of the party primaries next year.”

The restriction on the expenditure of the LGs   order came on the heels of the suspension of Mr.Bola Alabi,  Chief of Protocol to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, by the acting governor.

Alabi was immediately replaced by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Olusegun Omojuwa who is now responsible for the preparation and signing of his official engagements for the time being.

Ayedatiwa took over the administration of the state following the medical leave of Governor Akeredolu.

A university lecturer, Dr. Gbenga Abimbola, said Ayedatiwa cannot work in isolation and should “consult his boss if he has access.”

He said: “The law allows him to take certain decisions. He is exercising the office of the Governor on behalf of Akeredolu, so he can take far reaching decisions.”

A chieftain of the APC who pleaded anonymity said Aiyedatiwa only wanted  to ensure financial discipline by the Lgs.

“The people felt that that cabal was having a field day with the LG funds.Although we need money to celebrate Christmas, it is better that  the proper thing is done first.”

There is tension among the newly appointed caretaker chairmen in the 18 local government areas and 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) that they might be sacked by the acting governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

The fear aroused following the freezing of the accounts of the local councils by Aiyedatiwa.

The acting governor also told the newly created LCDA not to open new accounts.

A letter to the local councils reads:  “Distinguished HOLGAs, Your Excellency the acting governor of Ondo state had directed that all spending/expenditure from local government account should be suspended, no signing of cheques, no change of signatories, no withdrawal of any sort until further directive.

“Please adhere strictly to instruction and be guided.”

I’m for peace, Aiyedatiwa declares after resumption

Ondo State Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa yesterday identified peace and unity as key ingredients for significant and accelerated development in the Sunshine State as envisioned and being pursued by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.

Aiyedatiwa, who made the peace call in a broadcast, said what transpired in the Sunshine State in the past few months was beyond human comprehension.

He, however, described what happened in the past as a temporary delay in the democratic journey, saying: “As a government, we have recovered.”

Assuming duty yesterday as acting governor, Aiyedatiwa said it was a painful thing when nature sets in to hinder human performance.

Akeredolu in a letter transmitted to the House of Assembly on Tuesday said Aiyedatiwa will oversee governance in acting capacity. The governor is billed to return abroad for medical attention. He is likely to travel this weekend, it was learnt.

Aiyedatiwa appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje and Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, among others, for their patriotism and for being part of the peace process to guarantee continued sustenance of the state in the comity of states.

He said: “We must acknowledge that the key to the well-being of a man is in the hands of God. It is not for us as humans to question God but to pray for His mercies upon our lives.

“It is in this regard that we admit with all sense of responsibility that the intrigues that ensued due to Mr. Governor’s health challenges were indeed avoidable distractions.

“We ought to have done better to keep giving Ondo State the seamless and solid governance which Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had established in the state in the last six-and-a-half years.

“I cannot but specially appreciate the third arm of government, the Judiciary through the honourable Chief Judge, for its courage, commitment and dedication to protecting democracy and the constitution of the nation.

“It is on record that we all sailed through the unnecessary and avoidable weather together. We won together. We are all one large family.

“We are one great people with one focus: to make our state greater than it is today. At a personal level, I am confident that our democracy would be further enriched by the hard lessons learnt from this episode.

“Yesterday is already behind us. This is the time to carry aloft, with love and affection for one another, the laudable vision and mission of the governor for the state.

“I appeal to every member of the government of Ondo state for your genuine support, cooperation and dedication,” Aiyedatiwa said.

He also urged members of the state executive council to “at this time, come together and support him to deliver the dividends of democracy as trustees of the people with whom common humanity is shared.

“Also of paramount importance is the expectation of our people that we continue to deliver on the mandate given to Mr. Governor and my humble self.

“We must return quickly to the path of accelerated progress that has eluded the state in the last few months.

”We must rise far above the intrigues and instability of the past and roll up our sleeves in service of the people. We are nothing but trustees of the people with whom we share a common humanity. We must and we will exercise with utmost discretion the privileges conferred on us by the great people of Ondo State.”

The acting governor further appealed to the people of the state to continue to pray for Akeredolu’s quick recovery.
