    Ajeromi-Ifelodun marks 100 days with mega projects

    Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Chairman, Olalekan Akindipe, has marked his 100 days in office with inauguration of roads, donation of transformers, and empowering some residents.

    He rolled out various people-centered initiative embarked upon by his administration which included cash gifts and food items to 2,500 residents; provision of GCE forms to over 300 students, undergraduates scholarship, and grants for petty traders, amongst others.

    Additionally, a new Waste Compactor, five 500KVA transformers were given to Goriola, Salimonu Bakare, Holly Land, Arumoh and Ajetunmobi/New Creature communities to boost electricity supply and improve quality of life.

     Akindipe said his “first 100 days were about laying foundations and the next phase is about building legacies”.

    Akindipe also presented grants ranging from N50,000 to N500,000 to 2,500 beneficiaries to improve their skills and businesses.

    He said his administration in the last 100 days completed projects such as construction of road and installation of solar lights at Ashibejoye and Taiwo Streets.

    He added that his administration was working on computerisation projects that would equip children within the council with digital skills that meet international standards.

    He added that the council now has a fully functional website that “provides real-time updates on projects, programmes and ways to reach the council directly.”

    He assured residents of his commitment to implementing their demands that were mentioned at the recent stakeholders’ meeting he convened.

    He said: “At our recent stakeholders’ meeting, we listened carefully to your demands, and today, I give you my word that: every priority identified will be actualised before the end of 2026. This is not a promise—it is a commitment backed by action.”

    APC State Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, emphasised the party’s commitment to its promises, highlighting infrastructural achievements within 100 days and progress in sectors like education and health, with more development expected.

    Associations dig solar-powered borehole in Ajeromi-Ifelodun

    A solar-powered borehole water has been inaugurated in Tolu community area of Olodi-Apapa, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government by the Junior Chamber International (JCI), Lagos Coral in partnership with RGS Worldwide Ltd and Nedville Emergency Medical Services (NEMS).

    President JCI Lagos Coral, Efemona Ejeh, described the project as one of the achievements of the organisation in ensuring significant impact in local communities.

    “This is a testament of who we are and what we do. We don’t have to wait for the government or anyone to do it. We can partner with people, government, community stakeholders to solve community challenges,” she said.

    According to her, there are more projects JCI is executing including the entrepreneurship programme.

    Ejeh advised residents to take ownership of the project.

    Managing Director RGS worldwide Limited, Joseph Osazuwa, reiterated the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.

    “We believe we do business in Lagos, and it’s also part of our social corporate responsibility to support our community,” he said.

    According to Osazuwa, access to clean water is essential for sustainable development, and the partnership with JCI will help to address the community’s water needs.

    “Water is life, and without water, we have a lot of diseases. What we are providing is treated water, and it’s solar-driven, so it’s going to make life easy for people,” Osazuwa said.

    Project Chairperson in Tolu Community, Rachael Emeyazia, said that the project was designed after assessing the needs of the community and bringing stakeholders together to implement a solution.

    Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Olamilekan Akindipe, hailed the organisation for the project.

    “This is a great initiative as we all know that we need to support the local government and for a body to erect such a laudable project in our local government, it’s something to be happy about,” he said.

    The Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, Fatai Ayoola, has presented official vehicles to various groups in the council in a move to boost community development, market growth, and staff welfare.

    The local government staff received a brand-new bus to enhancing transportation and productivity. Market leaders were also presented with official buses to facilitate the transportation of goods and services, which is expected to improve trade and economic growth.

    Additionally, the Community Development Committee (CDC) chairman and executives received an official bus to support community activities.

    The council boss noted that this initiative is part of the local government’s efforts to improve the lives of its residents.

    He reiterated the administration’s commitment to empowering residents and improving living standards.

    Adekunle added that this move reinforces the council’s dedication to community empowerment and development.

    Market leaders lauded the gestures noting that this would help improve trade and economic growth.

    CDC executives thanked the local government for enhancing community development and promised to ensure judicious use of the vehicle.

    Ajeromi-Ifelodun clears N580m debt

    The Chairman, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government Area, Fatai Ayoola, has settled the N580m outstanding debt owed by the council.

    Ayoola said the debt was incurred by previous administrations of the council.

    He made this known at the 2025 Stakeholders’ Consultative Forum.

    The council boss said with the payment, the coast is clear for the incoming administration to execute future developmental projects.

    Ayoola expressed hope that the incoming chairman will continue to initiate people-oriented programmes and build on the progress made during his tenure.

    The council boss explained the importance of the completion of ongoing projects before leaving office.

    Community leaders lauded the council boss for clearing the outstanding debt but also highlighted the need for establishment of a primary healthcare centre in Alakoto, construction of Market Street/Market Lane and Omowale road, extension of Ugbewankwo Lane to Tunkarimu, repairs of Coconut bus-stop and Akogun road, provision of trucks for foodstuffs carriage to-and-fro Mile 12 to reduce prices, and a bus for the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Ajeromi-Ifelodun chapter.

    The Community Development Committees (CDC) also sought for increased involvement in government programmes.

    Chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area, Fatai Ayoola has empowered women with items worth N200 million at the Maiden Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Governments Women Summit/Mega Empowerment Programme

    The empowerment, a public-private driven, was facilitated by Wema Bank, Dangote Group, Smart Gas, Ajinomoto Foods, Global Medus Resources, and Venus Processing & Package.

    The empowerment sees women going home with cash between N50,000 and N500,000; 100 deep freezers;1000 units of 3kg gas cylinders; 50 pieces of 2.9kva generating set; 50 pieces of hairdryers; 50 pieces of sewing machines and 5,000 bags of 10kg rice.

    While appreciating the corporate entities who supported the initiative, the council boss beckoned on other corporate bodies to emulate them for the betterment of the society.

    “The Local Government is well appreciative of Wema Bank, Dangote Group, Smart Gas, Ajinomoto Foods, Global Medus Resources, and Venus Processing & Package that have assisted us with their products for onward distribution to the deserving beneficiaries.

    “We also call on other corporate entities to take this initiative and collaborate with us going forward for the betterment of our people”, he said.

    Ayoola appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the grants and items.

    “I am appealing to the beneficiaries to combine the lesson notes of yesterday’s seminars/workshops and make the best use of these grants and items in ways that would contribute to the economic development of our council,” he said.
