Tinubu does not need Makinde to win Oyo in 2027, Oladele knocks Alabi

The media office of the Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland and Oyo APC guber aspirant, Oloye Saheed Oladele, has carpeted Oloye Akin Alabi, the Honourable member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, over a statement he made recently.

In a viral video, Oloye Akin Alabi, while making a speech during an event at a gathering of the Egbeda League of Imams and Alfas, suggested that Oyo people would reenact the pattern of voting APC at the federal level and PDP in Oyo State as was done in 2023, in 2027.

Oloye Oladele frowned at the statement made by the third term seeking Federal Rep, at a time when efforts are being made to unite and strengthen Oyo APC.

He bemoaned that his unguarded utterances at the event have dampened the spirits of the party faithful more.

“At a time true party members are healing from the wounds of the losses of the 2023 guber election and the recent Ibadan North bye election to the PDP, the Honourable chose to hurt their feelings further by bringing back the bitter experience of the circumstances that led to the avoidable losses of the elections.

Oloye Oladele, through his media office, said the Egbeda/Ona-Ara Rep is free to join Governor Seyi Makinde to be able to secure the House of Representatives ticket from the PDP for his third tenure, stating that Oyo APC would not miss him one bit.

Oloye Oladele reiterated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would not need Governor Seyi Makinde to win Oyo State in the next presidential election in 2027.

According to the Baàmẹ̀kọ́ of Ibadanland, “All President Tinubu needs to do is to put forward as APC governorship candidate a marketable person and a unifier who will be fair to all and sundry irrespective of region. Once Asiwaju is able to get this right, 2027 presidential and governorship elections will be a smoothsail for APC in Oyo State.”

The Media Office took a swipe at the PDP, which he said has lost popularity among Oyo people because its government has plunged the state into generational debt burdens and sold off the masses’ treasured ancestral lands.

Oladele advised the Honourable to retract his statement and apologise to Oyo APC and its teeming members.

Death can’t severe our relationship, Akin Alabi assures late Olubadan’s family

Akin Alabi, the representative for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has revealed that he had developed a close relationship with the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, saying that he is committed to maintaining ties with the family the late monarch left behind.

Alabi, who is also the Ajiwogbo family compound head (Mogaji) in the Ibadan traditional system made this remark during his condolence visit to the Alarere residence of the late prominent monarch.

Alabi and his large entourage, among other sympathizers who visited on Wednesday, March 20, were received by the three widows of the late Oba Balogun, including Oloris Olayinka, Olufunmilayo and Khalimat.

The lawmaker described himself as part and parcel of the family said the incident, as sad and devastating as it might be would not cut him off from the family of the late Oba.

He said: “It is natural that guest traffic to this place would thin out very soon, but I want to assure you that I won’t be part of those that would abandon this place. It does not mean that we won’t be going to the next appropriate places, no, we would ensure you are not abandoned.

“What’s even more, this place is part of my constituency and I would not have any justifiable reason to neglect any part of my constituency.

“In a nutshell, this place is my home and I will forever cherish my relationship with our departed great hero. There’s not much to say for now than to plead with all to take heart and be consoled with the good and enduring legacies left behind by our baba”.

In a related development, one of the registered political parties in the country, the Action Alliance (AA) has described the late Oba Balogun as a dedicated, loyal and committed Ibadan to the core and that it was not a surprise that God gave him the grace and privilege to rule over the city, however short the reign might be.

The political party led by its Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Dr. Samuel Adeyemi commented on the condolence visit made to the Alarere residence of the late Olubadan.

Dr. Adeyemi, who went down memory lane said but for the singular efforts of the late Oba Balogun in 2011, the gubernatorial electoral victory of the late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi might have become a mirage, saying, “It was our late father, who prevailed on our party from pressing forward on our litigation on the year’s gubernatorial election over the exclusion by INEC our party logo on the gubernatorial election ballot paper.

“Being a lawyer myself, I don’t know how the former governor would have been able to scuttle our petition at the Election Petition Tribunal because exclusion of any eligible political party on the ballot paper is automatic re-run and the opposition party at the national level was waiting in the wings to assist our party, but our revered father stood his ground and prevailed on us.

“Ibadan has lost a great and highly consummate, compassionate and quintessential leader of immeasurable value. A peace-loving and highly cerebral monarch, the late Olubadan left enduring legacies which should be enough consolation for all the bereaved”, the AA boss asserted.

She expressed gladness at the good name and deeds left behind by the late Oba, describing the legacies as unquantifiable in terms of any tangible value, adding, “we are not afraid to face the future in the absence of our husband because, what he left behind for us, the children and the entire family is beyond measure in terms of goodwill”.

Olori Olayinka saluted the Alabi for recalling the political sagacity of her husband and more importantly his passion and commitment to Ibadan cause which the struggle made reference to epitomized, noting that “we are not surprised by the testimony because we know him and what he stood for at any point in time”.

The lawmaker said: “It is my pleasure to welcome all members to this inaugural meeting of the House Committee on Works. You have been carefully, selected by the leadership of the House, to represent each of the States in this committee.

“As you are all aware, Order Twenty (B), Rule 109 of the Standing Orders of the House, established the House Committee on Works with jurisdiction as oversight of construction and maintenance of Federal roads and bridges.

“Oversight of survey and mapping; Oversight of roads research; Oversight of Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation, (OSGOF); Oversight of Council for the Registration of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN); Oversight of Surveyors Council of Nigeria, (SURCON); Oversight of Federal School of Survey, Oyo State; Oversight of Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Survey, (RECTAS); Oversight of the Ministry responsible for works and its parastatals, save those assigned to other committees, and Annual budget estimates.

“That is why we need to swing into action immediately. Though the last government carried out some initiatives, policies and interventions on road infrastructure, we need to review some of these ideas and determine their work-ability or effectiveness in addressing our general concerns.”

The committee chairman also said in the last administration, the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund, (PIDF) managed by the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority, (NSIA) and the Highway Management Development Initiative, (HDMI) under the guidance of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission, (ICRC) were among several initiatives employed to improve road infrastructure.
