When people are asked to describe inventors, they often use one word: genius. As a society, we look upon the inventor with awe, and we fawn over his inventions with curiosity and admiration. We wonder, how did he do that? Where did he find his inspiration?
An invention is the transformation of creative ideas into useful applications by combining resources in new or unusual ways to provide value to society. Inventions ensure that people can adapt to changes or utilise new tools or mechanisms through the creation of better products or services, creating a positive impact on their environment. It is the catalyst for the growth and success of any society.
With one of the world’s largest youth populations, Nigeria (and Africa) is well-placed to develop a powerful digital economy that could have “transformational impact” for the country, according to the World Bank.
This is the opportunity that activist Josiah Akinloye, executive director Mainlogix technology, is looking to leverage by using technology as a tool through which millions of Nigerian youth can be empowered.
Akinloye Josiah journey into the tech world began early. He hails from Ikirun, Osun, Nigeria but pursued his Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, graduating in 2015. he went on to earn a Master’s degree in Biomedical/Medical Engineering from Bells University of Technology in 2022 but completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Nexford University in 2023 and he is a senior member of IEEE, and ForbesBLK.
Akinloye, alongside his company, Mainlogix Technology, a Nigerian-based technology company, launched the first
smart home automation that specializes in integrating various IoT domains, including remote patient monitoring, telemedicine, mobile health, assisted living, and home automation
In April 2016, Akinloye also launched Savycon.com, streamlining service connections in Nigeria and His pioneering robotics projects invention along with the streamlining service connections Helped him to reach a significant milestone by partnering with Amazon’s Alexa for voice control technology
His inventions led to the development of the ability to manage over 100,000 smart devices from different manufacturers through a single platform.Through his invention he has impacted the lives of over 13000 people in Nigeria and created over 2000 jobs.
In 2021, he secured an investment of approximately $300,000 from Canadian International Angel investors and $50000 from Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF)
In 2022, He pioneered domestic robots to address labor shortages and IoT in Nigeria. In 2023, he was listed by two Nigerian major newspapers as 5 must influencer youths making a difference in Nigeria.
