  • Prophet Ogundipe extols mom at 70th birthday

    Deaconess Dorcas Ogundipe’s first son, Prophet Israel Ogundipe, who is the Presiding Shepherd of Celestial Church of Christ Genesis Global, brought a smile to his mother’s at her 70th birthday celebration.

    Held at the Taynet Event Centre, Alakuko, Lagos, Ogundipe revealed that the lessons his mother taught him couldn’t be found anywhere because they were real-life experiences. While wishing her a marvellous 70th birthday, he said he truly appreciated her guidance and love.

    Ogundipe’s speech did nothing but melt the hearts of friends and well-wishers who came out to celebrate Mama Ogundipe. They were also impressed with the bond between the prophet and her mother.

    Deaconess Ogundipe was excited with the gathering of friends, well-wishers and colleagues who held her in high esteem and said beautiful things about her.

    Oyebamiji Sarafa, 39, and Ibrahim Mustapha, 51, who allegedly conspired to steal N130,000 from their friend, Shola Adebayo while sleeping in his hotel room, were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

    The defendants, who are both residents of Ogba area of Lagos State, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Raji Akeem, told the court that the accused persons committed the offences on Dec. 19, 2017 at a hotel situated at Agoshasha Street, Alakuko in Ikeja.

    Akeem alleged that the accused conspired to steal N130,000 belonging to their friend, Adebayo.

    He claimed that the complainant won N130,000 from a lotto game he played and decided to invite two of his friends for celebration in a hotel.

    The prosecutor said that the complainant who had no idea that his friends were planning to steal the money from him, carelessly put the money in a drawer at his hotel room.

    Akeem explained that when Adebayo noticed it was already late, he told his friends to keep the night with him in the hotel and go home the following day.

    The prosecutor alleged that by the time the complainant woke up the following day, his friends had absconded with his money.

    Akeem explained that Adebayo reported the case to the police and the accused were apprehended and taken to the police station for questioning.

    The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 prescribes three years’ imprisonment for stealing while Section 411 stipulates two-year jail term for conspiracy, if found guilty.

    Senior Magistrate T.O. Shomade granted the accused N100, 000 bail each with one surety each in like amount.

    He adjourned the case until Feb. 5 for mention.

  • ‘I often beat her, but she’s my love’

    The middle-aged food vendor, Olakemi, has prayed the Customary Court, Alakuko, a Lagos suburb, to dissolve her relationship with her husband to save her from being beaten to death.

    The woman, who took her husband, Yinka Afolami, a motorcyclist resident in Alakuko, to court for frequently beating her and stealing her money, said: “We did not marry under the native and customary law, but when I was expecting his child, he took me to live with his mother as a couple. Each time there is an argument, he does not settle it amicably; he beats me, leaving scars on my body, claiming that my presence brought evil omen to him because he lost his job at a printing press. “He often steals my money at midnight, but whenever I accuse him, he beats me without pity. After severally warning me not to come close to his house, I left for a church, but I’m still responsible for our child’s upkeep.”

    However, Afolami told the court that he had warned her severally against staying out late but she wouldn’t listen. “That is what caused the beating. I buy food stuffs and cook, but she would eat the food. She is too busy to take proper care of our child. I don’t know about her stolen money, but I still want this marriage because I love her,” he said.

    The court’s President, Chief Godwin Awosola, advised Olakemi to pack out her personal belongings within two weeks and told her husband to refund her stolen money. He adjourned the case till July 17.

    Ayefele, Atorise, others set to storm New Dawn

    GOSPEL musicians are set to storm the ancient town of Alakuko next weekend as Genesis Model International annual harvest, known as Festival of Grace, holds another edition. Leading an array of musicians and prophets are Lanre Teriba and Yinka Ayefele who are expected to grace the church’s programme.

    According to the organisers, the event tagged New Dawn is a prophetic and life-changing programme slated for Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the church’s ultra-modern auditorium in Dalemo-Alakuko, Lagos. The programme, which is to be heralded by a vigil on December 13, the organisers revealed, will also host other gospel artistes like Evangelist Bayo Apata and Evangelist Imole David who affirm their readiness to thrill God’s people in a night of praise and worship.

    Host, Prophet Israel Oladele Ogundipe, enthused: “This year’s event is power-filled with praise songs, transforming messages and miracles. As we are about to enter a new year, it is going to be a new dawn of fruitfulness, progress, divine help, success, favour, opportunities and fulfillment of promise in Jesus name for all participants.”

  • CCC Araromi Adubuleja Parish holds 17th anniversary

    ARAROMI Adubuleja, one of the parishes of the Celestial Church of Christ, Alakuko, Lagos is 17. The congregation celebrates her Annual Adult Harvest today, with a theme “From Zoan into Zion,” after a 3-day revival anchored by Dr. T.T Lawal of CAC Chapel of Solution and Prophet Dele Ogundipe of C.C.C Genesis Parish. A thanksgiving service, tagged Marching into Zion 2013, with a special ministration from the pastor-in-charge, Superior Evangelist S. A. Akinniranye, will round off the celebration.

    According to a statement by the pastor-in-charge, Superior Evangelist S. A. Akinniranye (a.k.a Oba bi Olorun ko si), leaving ZOAN for ZION is like leaving poverty for prosperity and marching from the heart of insignificance to prominence; and this, no doubt, requires great courage and determination, the type of characters displayed by Joshua and Caleb in the wilderness journey and also by David when he confronted Goliath.

    Among other expected anointed men of God to grace the occasion are the provincial head, Most Superior Evangelist Bisi Ojudun, the provincial patron, Most Superior Evangelist P.H. Anthony and Most Superior Evangelist Agbabiaka of CCC Araromi Parish, Iyana-Ipaja-Lagos.
