Ara set to drop first album in 25years

Known for her talking drum playing prowess, Aralola Olumuyiwa popularly known as Ara is set to drop her first album of her over twenty five years’ musical career.

Titled Ara De, the 20-tracker album comprises indigenous themes spiced with elements of contemporary Nigerian musical artistry and messages that connect with range of social realities that define present day Nigerian society. Skillfully blended with contemporary western sound elements, its overall indigenous sound appeal, conspicuous and captivating, underscores Ara’s Afrocentric passion.

Although she will be forever grateful to the label that gave her the platform she has now, Ara however revealed that her previous record label hindered her from dropping an album since she got signed on the label.

“Twenty five years down the lane I met my former record label boss whom I thought was the best thing that would ever happen to me. He gave me a platform that I will forever be grateful for but I was locked up from the entire world, I wasn’t allowed to make friends even my own family members couldn’t reach me because I was brain washed and by the time I realized what was happening to me and I decided to run my life was threatened.

“I was with that management for seven years and I have recorded in several countries including Paris, US, and Ghana but all efforts to bring out an album proved abortive.

“So this is the first one and I can tell you it’s been a battle both spiritual and physical and I thank God this album is going to be released at last, Ara concluded.

With Ara De, Ara is giving her entertainment career a new lease of life. The album which has vocal appearances by 2Baba and Fuji sensation Pasuma, is expected to drop before the end of second quarter of the year with production credits from ace music producers Puffy T, Ty mix, and Wole Oni.

WANDE COAL TREATS FANS WITH ALBUM PROMO

HIP hop artiste, Wande Coal, is not leaving the promotion of Wanted, his latest album to chance. Wanted, which dropped on October 26, is the singer’s sophomore album after five years since dropping Mushin 2 Mo’ Hits.

In a promo titled NdaniTV Wanted Contest, Wande Coal, using his Twitter account, urged his fans to take and post a picture of themselves with a copy of the album to stand a chance of winning either a Segway Board or an Ndani Goodie Bag.

Released last Thursday under Black Diamond label, which Wande Coal also owns, the 18-track album, according to the singer, was named ‘Wanted’ because people had been asking for it and it was highly anticipated by fans.

“This album cut across all demographics,” Wande Coal said.

“I feel this album is my own creativity and personal growth. I have been planning to work with 2Face and on this album I worked with Tubaba. I worked with eight producers on this album. I believe it’s a great album”.

Asked about why it took so long to release his second album, Wande Coal attributed it to the dissolution Mo’ Hits in 2011.

“I was left alone to choose and I moved with Don Jazzy without no contract because of love,” he said.

“As an artiste I felt it was okay to go with a producer. We started working on the album but we didn’t agree on contract so I had to move on. And that means I had to start all over again writing new songs and get new producers.”

Wande Coal was first officially signed Mo ‘Hit in 2010 even though he met his former bosses Don Jazzy and D’banj in 2006.

You have the most amazing voice in the game, the most talented nigga ever.  Congratulations on this new album I’m certain it would be nothing less than perfection, anticipating the finest tunes as always and more blessings.”

Like most of Nigeria’s celebrated musicians, Wande Coal started singing in the teenage choir at his church. He got his break in the Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer. He continued improving on his vocals skills and got signed to Don Jazzy’s Mo’hits records in 2006.

  • Why I’m dropping my album online, by Mode 9

Why I’m dropping my album online, by Mode 9

That piracy is the bane of the Nigerian entertainment industry has never been in doubt, but the ills of this practice, which has been described as heinous, needs to be felt to be understood.

This is the case with Babatunde Olusegun Adewale, popularly known by his stage name, Mode 9. Speaking to The Nation, the popular rhymester said that he did not make a dime from his last album, titled Above Ground Level.

“You give your CDs to the Alaba guys to market for you, and even though you see your CDs all over the place, whenever you call them to ask for your money, they tell you, e no sell. Should you decide to visit them at their shops, they will show you the CDs you gave them to sell, claiming, e no sell, all this in spite of evidence to the contrary. They simply copy the CDs, and sell their own copies, leaving the original copies unsold”, he said.

The talented rapper however went on to say, “CDs are on their way out anyway. Digital music is the future, and so I have decided to release my forthcoming album online. It will only be available online via downloads for the enjoyment, and convenience of my fans.

“This is why COSON’s mantra, Let the Music Pay is apt. Pirates continue to rip off Nigerian entertainers, who more often than not have nothing to show for their creative works. Many entertainers sink their energies, and hard earned money into creating songs and movies, only to end up having nothing to show for their efforts.”
