  • PDP are jesters, says Ondo APC

THE All Progressives Congres (APC) in Ondo State has described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as desperate to win the elections. It, however, said vituperations and vain grandstanding will not win any election for the party.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, said: “The APC is worried that while the postponement avail political parties the opportunity to refine their campaigns, the PDP wailers had been attacking the well-cultured and disciplined APC and its leaders.

“We note that while they keep harping on the so-called “bad eggs” from their party to the APC, they quickly forget that majority of “the rotten eggs” have since returned to the PDP, and are the leading lights in the party as at today.

“The APC believes that it takes jesters to either destroy membership cards or describe the umbrella in unprintable names in a moment, but queue to be accommodated under the same umbrella in another breath.

“We made bold to say that the crude agitators in the PDP in Ondo State are disconnected from reality and are swimming in delusions. The disabled party does not have the political strength to garner 20 per cent of the votes in Ondo State on Saturday.

“The APC appeals to its adherents to ignore provocative actions and utterances from degraded party, but be focused on electoral victory during the elections.

“We assure the people that neither President Muhammadu Buhari nor Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu will ever contemplate mismanaging your resources, rather they will utilise same for the benefits of all.”

  • PDP lied over ‘purported’ APC members defection in Ondo

The Ondo state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday faulted the claim by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)  that it received about 10,000 of its members in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

It described the notion as porous and cheap propaganda, stressing that the claim had helped to amplify what has already been known that the party has no regards for figures, besides it’s inelastic capacity for distortion of glaring facts.

A statement by the party’s spokesman, Alex Kalejaye said “The APC in Ondo State wishes to place on records that a fraction of those who followed Chief Olusola Oke to the party early this year actually returned to where they always belong. They were less than 50 in number.

“The ruling party deeply appreciates the courage and will of the bulk of the group for believing in the APC, and resisting the indescribable efforts aimed at inducing them financially.

“What happened in Okitipupa was a political jamboree by the Ondo State PDP, designed to justify the huge financial investment of its national leaders, who stormed Akure, the Ondo State capital last Thursday, and led by Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State.

“It was therefore necessary for the State chapter to rent some idle youths that have no electoral values to present a seemingly huge crowd for further patronage.

The  statement stressed that Ondo APC was unperturbed about the hollow and rootless antics that will expire in February.

It said “We remain committed to our determination to deliver the State for our party during the general elections.

The party will continue to work for the good people of Ondo State and and showcase what we have been able to do, even at the national level, rather than orchestrated propaganda.

“This government has no place for deception and empty promises that will not improve the living conditions and welfare of the people.

The statement assured the citizenry that the present Akeredolu’s government would implement all the projects intended, and flagged off, while payment of workers’ salaries and wages would be sustained.

  • Ondo APC: We are still intact

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state has criticized the report that notable aspirants were planning to defect from the party.

The party in a statement by its spokesman, Alex Kalejaye said the reaction was imperative to erase the erroneous impression, and assure party faithful that the State chapter is still intact, and has resolved to handle whatever grievances that might have arisen from the primaries, within its fold.

Among prominent names that have been penciled down for defection are Lucky Ayedatiwa and Dr. Tunji Abayomi, a senatorial hopeful from Ondo North.

The former is the Ondo State representative on the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, and senatorial aspirant from Ondo South.

The statement said” There is no iota of truth in such permutation, and imaginative analysis. Hon. Ayedatiwa, for example, has said repeatedly that he would never leave the APC for any other party.

“Like Ayedatiwa, most aspirants, from the senatorial, the House of Representatives, to the State House of Assembly, have put the primaries behind them and are currently preoccupied with how the party would triumph during the general elections.

The party, however, said it is not under any illusions that there is need to reach some members that might have picked offence at the party decisions, with a view to pacifying them, to enhance the party’s chances in 2019.

The leadership of the party, as well as the State Working Committee(SWC) according to him is not leaving any stone unturned in its quest for higher degree of understanding and accommodation in the State chapter.

  • ‘Ondo, Ekiti political, cultural ties remain solid’

The cultural and political affinity between Ondo and Ekiti States will always be fortified.

The Ondo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ade Adetimehin made the observation at the weekend when he received a delegation of APC leaders from Ekiti State, who were on a thank-you visit, and led by the State Chairman, Chief Jide Awe.

According to a statement by the party’s spokesman, Alex Kalejaye ,the chairman noted that the support and efforts of Ondo State APC in Ekiti, during the campaigns, were informed by what the State chapter benefited from Ekiti, particularly,  the governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, in the past.

He said “In 2012, Fayemi was at the forefront of our governorship campaigns here in Ondo State. Though we lost that election but he was not deterred. Again in 2016, he presented himself a pillar to lean on till we emerged victorious”

Speaking earlier, Chief Awe, thanked leaders and all organs of the party in Ondo State, for what he termed massive support and encouragement given to them during their electioneering campaigns.

Awe said that though the Ekiti office was still basking in the euphoria of the electoral victory, the leaders considered it expedient to offer timely appreciation.

Awe said: “We are full of appreciation to the leaders and every member of APC in Ondo State for their support and encouragement. It is difficult to go to individuals for this, we are therefore using this corporate office as a means of contact to all members.

“It will be needless counting the number of ways through which you rendered assistance for us to get victory at the just concluded gubernatorial polls in our State.”

  • Prove your innocence, APC urges detained Ondo PDP Chieftains

The Ondo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday advised the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its sympathizers to encourage the detained PDP’s Chairman, Clement Faboyede, and his co-traveler, Tokunbo Modupe, to prove their innocence before a competent court of law, instead of resorting to blackmail of a system that means well.

Publicity Secretary of APC, in the State, Alex Kalejaye, said the resolve of the PDP to turn attack on the APC, instead of planning how to defend one of its principals betrays the weakness of its defense, if any.

Kalejaye reacted to a statement credited to the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ayo Fadaka, to the effect that the duo had done nothing fraudulent.

Fadaka was quoted as saying” we wish to state categorically that the APC is merely abusing the privileges of power to prosecute the PDP endlessly, this we consider pedestrian and cheap”,

The APC spokesman said he would have ignored the attack for its pettiness, “but the need to guide people’s mind against pollution makes this reaction a necessity”.

He argued that the PDP as a party has a duty to commend the current administration for succeeding where the former failed in its 16 years of reckless and crude financial allocations and sharing, saying the APC is on a rescue mission.

Kalejaye said: “The PDP does not reserve the right under the law to tell the good people of Nigeria whether an individual is a criminal or not; nor when an act is deemed to be criminally  fraudulent. That is why the court is there.

“If the former PDP chairman is accused of financial crime, one would have expected his party to urge him to defend himself and prove his innocence, if he is convinced, instead of raising needless alarm”.

He expressed surprise that a faithful of the PDP could be talking about abuse of power when “every political observer could vividly recall the brutish approach to, and deployment  of power under former president Olusegun Obasanjo.”

The APC spokesman warned that the APC would not be deterred by blackmail of whatever coloration in its quest to recover the taxpayer’s money that was mindlessly starched away, irrespective of party affiliations.

The three charges pressed against Messers Faboyede and Modupe border on conspiracy and money laundering.

Faboyede was being accused of making N500m cash payment to the Ondo State Election Committee of the PDP.
