  • #BBNaija: Lolu, Khloe, Anto evicted

Lolu, Khloe and Anto on Sunday  made their exit from the Big Brother Naija Reality TV Show.

This occurred immediately after the housemates lost their wager with Miracle to blame for the loss.

Biggie had instructed the housemates to pick one out of 10 random boxes but avoid the one with any monetary prize attached to it.

Miracle was the one who defaulted in this challenge, winning #200,000 and costing the whole housemates a loss of this week’s wager.

Housemates lost their wager but were mandated by Biggie to keep whatever was in the briefcase for themselves.

Unfortunately, as the housemates made to leave, Ebuka told the trio of Cee-C, Khloe and Anto to stay behind, leaving the rest five housemates to go wait in the lounge.

Biggie finally evicted three housemates in quick succession as Anto and Khloe were the first to be evicted, followed by Lolu who was seated amongst Miracle, Tobi, Alex and Nina in the Lounge.

Cee-C ended up being saved from eviction by a narrow miss.

An emotional Alex begged Lolu for a second hug as Lolu went through the door.

  • #BBNaija: I give up on Miracle- Nina

Nina, Big Brother Housemate has stated that she has given up on Miracle.
Alex who initially approached Nina to make peace with Miracle advised her “to swallow her anger.”
Alex, playing the role of intermediary of patching old love back to together
However, Nina vowed not to talk to Miracle at all
“I thought I was at fault. I called him my everything and my boyfriend is watching me. He doesn’t have a girlfriend, but I have a boyfriend.
“I will never talk to him ever again. I will follow him on Instagram and it will be like we never met,” Nina said.
Alex finally encouraged Nina to make peace with Miracle for good but decided to play Alex as a bridge to link Miracle back to her.
Miracle struggled with the idea at first, telling Alex and Tobi that he was hurt but has moved on.
He refused to make conversation until Alex and Tobi pleaded with him to.
“Avoid unnecessary arguments with her and just sorted the issues as they come,” Alex urged.

  • BBNaija: Let me host a season of BBN Show- Alex begs Biggie

Latest Head of House, Alex has asked Biggie, a huge favour.

This evening in her diary session, Alex begged Biggie to let her host one edition of the Big Brother Naija TV reality show, even if it is just once.

She asked the favour, willfully, hoping Biggie to oblige her.

“Biggie I have one favour to ask. Please let me host a season of Big Brother even if it is in ten years time,” She pleaded.

Biggie ended the session on a positive note. Not quick to make a promise but hopefully to consider the request.

  • Organisers BBNaija Double Wahala `resets’ game

Big Brother aka ‘Biggie, owner of the Big Brother Naija house on Sunday, dissolved all the strikes assigned to housemates in a bid to reset the game.

This means that Cee-C, Lolu and Tobi who had two strikes each for flouting the house rules, now have clean slates to continue in the game.

The News men report that Biggie introduced the twist during his `historic’ meeting with the housemates before Sunday’s live show.

With dramatic lighting and ninjas flanking the ‘throne’, housemates were asked to line up and queried on their experiences in the house thus far.

After announcing that evictions would not take place as planned, ‘Biggie’ gave the housemates a choice to exit the game.

They were asked to pick an envelope containing an undisclosed sum of money if they wanted to leave the game at that moment.

Although Rico Swavey and Alex looked like they were going to pick the offer, all the housemates declined.

‘Biggie’ generously announced that all strikes were forgiven and housemates can restart the game on a clean account causing Cee-C, Tobi and Lolu to leap for joy.

According to information on the show’s official website, the twists were introduced to create a level playing ground as two evicted housemates were brought back to the house on Sunday.

It read: “All of this was a symbolic moment in order for Biggie to reset the game in order for things to move forward in a new light.

“It is going to be a whole new game with Anto and Khloe coming back. This is going to shift the vibe in the House and definitely spice things up.”

It should be recalled that the decision to give disqualified housemates the chance to be voted back to the house alongside honourably evicted housemates, caused uproar on social media.

The News men reports that some viewers advocated for the cancellation of the strikes of Cee-C, Tobi and Lolu if any disqualified housemates are given a chance to return to the game.

Cee-C and Lolu had earned double strikes due to provocation which led to Lolu getting injured when the two housemates had a disagreement when they were paired together.

Tobi’s strikes were earned when he was accused of conspiring with other housemates to put Cee-C up for possible eviction.

However, Khloe and Anto are back to the house, having snuck in at 3am on Monday to mixed reactions from the housemates.

Currently, 11 housemates are competing for prizes worth N45 million.

  • BBNaija: Khloe and Leo make fun of Alex

Recently evicted Big Brother Naija Double Wahala housemate Leo and disqualified housemate Khloe have been spotted making fun of Alex  in a recent video making rounds online.

It was a bad moment for Alex on Sunday as she had an emotional outburst when  her Ex-strategic partner Leo was evicted.

In the clip, Khole could be seen  mimicking Alex the way she was crying when Leo and his strategic partner Ifu Ennada left the house while Leo laughs on at the background.

Though the duo were quick to denying this, fans find it hard to believe.

Most people think it is inappropriate for them to make fun of Alex in that manner.

  • #BBNaija: Tobi, Miracle, Teddy A, others up for eviction

Eight housemates are up for possible eviction , following the dissolution of the `strategic partnership’ by Big Brother.

The housemates up for eviction on Sunday, March 18, include Anto, Cee C, Lolu, Bambam, Tobi, Alex, Teddy A and Miracle.

However all the nominated housemates except Bambam and Cee C received two nominations each during the diary session on Monday night.

Immediate past Head of House (HoH), Bambam, turned out to be the least popular housemate after she received the highest number of votes with Lolu, Tobi, Alex and Nina all nominating her.

Controversial housemate Cee C, received the second highest number of nominations after Rico Swarvey, Alex and Miracle seemed to be displeased with her recent accusations towards Tobi.

Miracle revealed his reason for nominating Cee C in the diary room.

He said; “I nominated Cee C because she made unfair accusations towards Tobi”.

Meanwhile, Alex seems to have taken the eviction of her love interest to heart after crying nonstop all through the day.

Leo’s eviction from the Big Brother house seem to have come at her detriment because fellow housemate Anto, deemed her profuse wailing as immature and worthy of being up for eviction.

“I nominated Alex because she might not be mature enough to handle the N25 million after last night,” Anto said.

High point of Monday activities in the house was the twist in the nomination process.

Big Brother, known for twisting and changing the principle of the game, altered the HoH privileges for the first time in BBNaija “Double Wahala.”

Instead of the typical save and replace and immunity from nominations, the HoH had to rely on a “chance card” that will reveal either options.

Current queen of the house, Nina expressed her disappointment in not getting the full privileges previous HoH’s acquired.

“I am happy to be HoH, but I am sad that I didn’t get all the HoH privileges,” Nina added.

The result of the nominations saw more than three third of the housemates closer to losing the grand prize.

However Nina’s “chance card” revealed that she was immune from nominations making herself and Rico Swarvey the only housemates guaranteed safety for at least another week.

  • BBNaija: Alex breaks down as Leo is shown exit door (See Video)

Big Brother Housemate, Alex broke down into tears last night as the pair Lifu was finally shown the exit door.
Lifu which consists of both Leo and Ifu Ennada are now the fourth pair to be evicted from the house. Following the eviction of Pritto, Vandee, and K-square.
Alex who fell into uncontrollably fits of emotions, kept crying as she held onto Leo, refusing to let him go into the elevator.
Despite the stern warning of Biggie giving Leo 10 more seconds to leave the house; it took the intervention of other housemates to beg an emotional Alex to let go.
Tobi and other housemates took turns in reminding her that the parting was only temporal as both Leo and Alex will be reunited again.
Speaking after the eviction to Ebuka during the live show, Ifu was very excited to be evicted. She stated that her eviction was the will of the God.

Leo responding to his love for Alex, said he had someone else outside the house.
“I never led her on and I was very honest.”

    On moving forward, Ifu said:
I am milking out every opportunity I get outside the house. We won the Pepsi challenge and the Heritage Bank challenge as well. I am looking forward to bigger things and attending those meetings and any other meetings that come up.
Leo who was more than happy to return to work with his new found fame said:
“I am looking forward to going to London, thanks to Pepsi.”
  • BBNaija: Cee-C survives eviction

    BBNaija: Cee-C survives eviction

Last week recorded the most controversial eviction nominees in the Big Brother Naija (BBN) house, when Tobi used his veto power as Head of House to put up his romantically-linked, albeit ‘troublesome’ partner Cee-C and her pair Lolu for possible eviction in place of the originally-nominated pair Rico and Bambam (BAMCO).

This was just as Alex refused to save Leo, saying, “He needs a haircut” (as those up for eviction are usually made to look good).

It was these shocking revelations that made this week’s eviction the most anticipated, and alas! Cee-C was saved, along Lolu, while Angel and Ahneeka (GELAH) got the boot.

Leo and Ifu Anneda (LIFU) retained their place back in the house. Thus, this week is pregnant of how the game between the perceived betrayed (Alex and Cee-C) by their partners will play out.

The three pairs that got fans voting all week include Cee-C and Lolu (CEELO), Leo and Ifu Anneda (LIFU) and Angel and Ahneeka (GELAH).

Shortly before announcing the results, Ebuka prodded Cee-C who seemed to have put Tobi’s action behind her.

Asked why she finds herself coming back to Tobi despite series of “I’m done with him” remark, she said: “I like Tobi a lot, as a person, yeah. I think he is very interesting. I believe in his potential and everything.”

Dr Sid opened the show singing his hit ‘Surulere’, a song that featured Don Jazzy to the excitement of the studio guests.

Dressed by D29 Concept, show host Ebuka Uchendu Obi revealed that next week eviction will end the pairing technique.

Las week, The Nation predicted three reasons why Cee-C may not be evicted this week, saying: “…one of her staying power may come from votes from fans of Lolu, her partner who stands to be evicted with her. The other probability is that having been put up by Tobi, her tears that night, especially as she tried to explain her good intentions might have melted some hearts that will most likely join her fans, friends and family members to vote aggressively to keep her in the house. Also, if one considers the drama that has ensued from her relapsing relationship with Tobi, fans of the show would want the entertainment to continue, whether or not they like her personality.”

  • BBNaija: Alex is plus one today

BBNaija: Alex is plus one today

Big Brother Housemate, Alex has added a new age today.
Her giddiness happened to coincide with her argument with Leo, when he explained in very clear terms that he wanted no more “strings” between them.
She wanted to sleep in his bed and enjoy some coziness but Leo preferred to have nothing of the sort.
He sent her out and when she refused to leave; he changed position, replacing where he would normally keep his head with his feet.
“I have told you times without number that I don’t want more than this little thing we have,” Leo was quoted, in his discussion with Alex.
He tried to reason with her that their pairing was just a game and nothing more with no extra strings attached.
Only to find out moments later that housemates were counting down to her birthday. Hence their now recently found midnight insomnia.
Tobi led the birthday chorus as housemates sang for a very emotional Alex who kept crying all through the joyous moment.
This was after lights out and Alex was given hugs in turn by housemates who happily wished her a lovely year ahead.
  • Alex Ekwueme

At a time like this, Ndigbo, would say: ka madu n’akwa onye ozo, ka ona akwa owe ya. This roughly translates: ‘as one is mourning the dead, so he is mourning oneself’. The burial rites of Dr Alexander Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme (1932 – 2017), Ide Aguata, who died last November, naturally heralds deluge of eulogies from far and near for Ekwueme was a star. As William Shakespeare wrote, in Julius Caesar: ‘When beggars die there are no comets seen; The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes’.

Yes, Ekwueme was a prince, an exceptional prince, indeed; but he remained connected to the lowly. He had friends among the high and mighty and the economically dispossessed across the country. One of his greatest legacies remains his scholarship programme, mostly to study abroad. A programme he started before he ventured into politics. Ekwueme loved education and was a genius who earned degrees in diverse fields as architecture, law, philosophy, sociology and history.

In spite of his numerous laurels, Ekwueme remained very humble. That humility enabled him to serve under a less academically accomplished President Shehu Shagari as Nigeria’s vice president from 1979 to 1983 without fuss. Materially and mentally wealthier than his principal, he never disrespected him or projected his stardom to undermine him – a trait which our present intellectually sagacious vice president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo shares. Indeed, I was moved by Osinbajo’s eulogy at the funeral of Dr Ekwueme which underscored the importance of that noble asset.

Perhaps, it is that trait that threw up Ekwueme, first as gubernatorial aspirant in the old Anambra State and later a vice presidential candidate and vice president to Shagari just like Osinbajo in the present dispensation. As Ekwueme recalled in an interview, he was pressured at a reception in his honour after his doctorate degree to come home and vie for the governorship candidacy of National Party of Nigeria (NPN), which he lost to Chief C. C. Onoh, Okaa Omee Ngwo. But when NPN zoned the vice presidency to the old Anambra and Imo states, his compatriots choose him, in absentia.

Clearly effusive, Ekwueme is not like most of his compatriots who hire trumpeters to remain relevant. After the Shagari regime was toppled, he suffered an undue long detention in and out of prison; yet he never made an issue about it. Many in his shoes, would have tried to blackmail the country, at every turn, after the Uwaifo investigative panel came out with the report that he did not enrich himself, as a vice president. Nothing but his sense of proportion stopped him from constantly reminding Nigerians that having been wrongly detained and denied ascendency to the presidency, following the 1983 coup, it was his turn to be president, at every political circle.

So, though he was very learned, he was never bombastic, or tried to impress, cheaply. Unlike many other politicians, he didn’t make a din of his intellectual contributions, like the six geo-political zones, which will serve the country better, if entrenched into our constitution. The need to restructure Nigeria along the six geo-political zones, which he championed at the 1994/95 constitutional conference, has continued to reverberate as the solution to the myriad of problems holding Nigeria by the jugular and trying to strangulate her.

He also proposed rotational presidency, and a vice president from the six geo-political zones, which many taunted as below our democracy. Yet, when President Umaru Yar’Adua passed on, while on the throne, the entire country was almost brought to fracture, just because, the section of the country where Yar’Adua came from, could not contemplate the presidency leaving that zone, without enjoying two terms. The same scenario reared its ugly head, when President Muhammadu Buhari fell ill last year.

With degrees in sciences and arts, Ekwueme was a pragmatic politician, but not a coward. After suffering detention for years in the hands of the military following the sacking of democracy in 1983, he stayed away from politics for better part of the former military President Ibrahim Babangida’s transition brinkmanship. While Babangida was playing on the intelligence of the political class, with an unwinding transition programme, Ekwueme stayed away. But when Sani Abacha, who snatched power from the interim Head of State, Chief Earnest Shonekan, tried to transmute to civilian president, through treachery and deceit, Ekwueme threw in his hat to save Nigeria.

Despite the grave risk in confronting Abacha’s brutish dictatorship, Ekwueme led a group of eminent Nigerians to call for return to democracy. This group which metamorphosed into the G-34, later birthed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). While he laboured to build the party, it was not his lot to win the presidential candidacy of the party. At the 1998 Jos convention, after he lost to Obasanjo, he delivered a well-mannered speech congratulating the winner and pledging to work for the success of the party.

True to his promise, he raised funds for the election campaign of Obasanjo, and worked for the party’s success at the polls. Unfortunately, once Obasanjo emerged President, Ekwueme’s importance began to dim. Many in his shoes would have worn their misfortune like uniform, but not Ekwueme, who took it in his chin and exhibited his cultured manners. He never left the party, nor sponsored an alternative platform, to put pressure on the party.

He never avariciously threatened the party, nor engaged in such mendacity as campaign of calumny against its leadership, whether at the federal or state level. While his influence in the party loomed large in Anambra State, where he hails from, he was never openly in a fight over who would gain one position or favour. Unlike some of his contemporaries, he was not always in the trenches over who will be governor, or who will occupy one office or the other. While he had his preferences, or even candidates, it was not a do-or-die affair, for him.

No doubt, Ekwueme’s departure has created a vacuum in the leadership hierarchy of Ndigbo. While his presence did not electrify, like Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, the Owelle of Onitsha; nor elicit worship, like Chief Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Ikemba Nnewi; Alex Ekwueme, Ide Aguata, laid his sagacious intellect and cheerful leadership skills, to serve Ndigbo, just as he did for his country. At the critical junctures of Nigeria history, he stood taller than other tall trees. He was a single Iroko that was a forest. He never wavered nor sold a cause, for pieces of silver.

Now that Ekwueme has joined his ancestors, it will serve Ndigbo, to relearn his skills and immerse in his style. Nigeria, also needs to heed the wise counsels of the avatar, if she desires to depart from the gory of death and hatred. As Ekwueme said: “Nigeria should become a nation rather than a country. Ghana is a country. The type of massacre of people from certain groups that takes place from time to time in Nigeria won’t happen in Ghana….”
