The film, ‘Power of 1’ would have its London premiere on August 23 at Odeon Greenwich.

In an interview granted to an online publication last year, 2Baba’s manager, Efe Omorogbe, had said the movie, a mixture of facts and fiction, details 2Baba’s incursion into political agitation in Nigeria.

“I work with the 2Baba foundation and we started in 2011 to get into the political space and by 2014, we had some organisations joined us and we launched ‘Vote not Fight’ and the reason was simple,” he said.

“(There) were so many predictions about the 2015 to be violent and we sat and said, yes there might be these predictions but what can we do to stop or reduce it to the barest minimum and we designed a campaign called ‘Vote not Fight, Election no be war’ and we engaged youths for months on end.

“We went from place to place using 2baba’s star power and resources of these other organisations to engage young people and showing them clearly reasons why violence is not an option for 2015 election and by the time it was the election, we had covered over 744 local governments and the election was relatively peaceful. This made it clear that we could get it done. So, we’ve been working on sensitising the youths making them understand why their votes count and why they need to make it count by a singular decision.

“And in January 24, 2017, 2Baba posted something on Instagram supporting the cries of the masses and it was like matches and petrol and we saw drama unfolding before our very eyes, it was very close to something we might not be able to handle so he pulled the plug to primarily douse the tension and reduce the possibility of violence where people will get hurt.”

“Until we as a people want better for ourselves & our unborn generation, we would continue our rigmarole from frying pan to fire, Nigeria is sitting on a keg of gun powder, we CANNOT afford another civil war, trust me when I say we are on the brink of it. I’m sick & tired of the disparity btw things as they are & as they ought to be, I’m tired of lying, I’m tired of covering up under the guise of Patriotism, the honest truth is NIGERIA IS NOT WORKING, its 2019 we still cannot boast of steady power supply, a feat bigger countries with less resources have conquered, & moved unto greater things like self driving cars, electric cars, space programs, & we are still here groping in the dark, inventing new dance moves like Zanku & Shoki, I weep for my pple. Everything Baba Fela sang about decades ago, is still happening like he sang it yesterday, we are still “suffering & smiling.”

“Dear Nigerian Youth, if you sell your vote in this upcoming election, you are part of the problem! If you support a candidate simply because he is from your geopolitical zone, or the same religion as you, shame on you!

“Let us take cue from Aunty Oby & put the country first! Put our unborn generation first! Put our collective wellbeing first! Abi are you not tired?

“Thank you mama, you have truly led by example, posterity would never forget you.

  • Stop comparing Hollywood with Nollywood, says Alexx Ekubo

Stop comparing Hollywood with Nollywood, says Alexx Ekubo

For many who believe that the Nigerian motion picture industry is not doing well in terms of picture quality, sound and other elements expected to be seen in a movie, Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo urges them to stop comparing Hollywood with Nollywood.

He bared his mind on his timeline, stating that Hollywood blockbuster movies have large budget, which enable them to produce what we see.

    “Stop pointless criticism,” he said.

“It doesn’t help anyone or the industry, we are not where we want to be, but we are certainly not where we used to be, don’t “command” use your Avengers or Superman taste to judge our struggling Nollywood, those Hollywood blockbusters have outrageous budgets, ranging from 80million – 800million dollars, so please bear with us, we are doing the best we can.”

He said further that celebrities are also human and are prone to make certain mistakes in life, like other people on the street: “Please we entertainers are just as human as you, we fart, sleep, eat, love, make mistakes, hurt and feel pain like you do, Don’t bother yourself with anybody’s “wrong choices”, it’s hard enough for them already, commenting maliciously will only make matters worse, if you really care just say a silent prayer and move on.”

The Nigerian actor and model was first runner-up at the 2010 Mr. Nigeria contest.
