  • Non-indigenes in Alimosho vow to deliver 100 percent votes to APC

    The Non-indigenes Forum in Alimosho has vowed to ensure all its members vote for the candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general elections.

    The forum is made up of artisans, community leaders, royal fathers and clergies. It cuts across the six local council development areas in the old Alimosho

    A statement by the Chairman of the Elders Council, Eze Lawrence Eze, who is the Ezendigbo Alimosho, and the chief co-ordinator, Hon. Paul Eze, said it would ensure a landslide victory of APC candidates. It said the decision was taken after an evaluation of the candidates.

    Eze Lawrence urged APC party faithful to put their house in order, mind their local governments, according to him saying ‘your strength or relevance in the party depends on your ability to deliver your local government to the party’. He warned the party leaders to beware of “some of the acclaimed Igbo leaders floating everywhere. They are neither here nor there to avoid the repeat of the 2015”.

    He also advised APC leaders to back the group to deliver on its promise.

    The Seriki Hausa General Alimosho and the deputy chairman elders council of the group, Alhaji Ahmed Haruna, advised the party and the campaign managers of some of the candidates to adopt politics of inclusiveness. He added that some campaign managers were not carrying along. He observed that the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Senator representing his constituency, Senator Solomon Olamilekan, visited Alimosho without acknowledging leaders of non-indigenes.

    The forum announced its proposed rally to showcase its strength and to campaign for APC. All APC candidates in the old Alimosho will be adopted at the rally.

    ALIMOSHO FESTIVAL is a yearly event organized by Okun Alimosho, a group of youths, led by just – Joe Ade Ola,  who seek to improve the face of Alimosho through the  use of Art, Music and Culture in a love provocative manner.

    The essence is to discover, promote and celebrate the rich art, talents, vocations, skills, businesses and cultural heritage in Alimosho as this will involve the 6 LCDAs coming together.

    The group would be engaging over 200 thousand participants in love provoking competition, traditional and modern demonstrations, promotions of excellent Business, inventions and brands, which will invariably culminate into the economic growth in Alimosho and its environment.

    It is a two month programme managed by 2600 Ambassadors / staff / CBMs / Adhoc staffs / volunteers which are expected to reach over 1 million people, the festival will run from November to December Starting with the opening Ceremony which will kick off on the 9th Of November 2018

    The following are the different areas of the competition;

    Football, Boxing, Basketball, , Suwe, Draft, Ayoo, Tenten, DJ, Singing, Cooking, Dancing, Modeling, Painting, Fashion design, Comedy, Hair-styling, Make Over, Business Proposal.

    And other Activities  that would go on like Opening Ceremony, hip-hop nights, fuji night, Jazz night, Highlife, Alimosho Carol Concert, Cinema, Asa day, Alimosho Youth Alive, Public Islamic Lecture, Award Night/Closing Ceremony.

    This Festival intends to;

    Beautify Alimosho and make it the citadel of Art & Music

    To unite citizens and make them a true Nigerian

    To awake and preserve our dying culture

    To Bridge the gulf between all forms of religion

    To portray music and art personnel as models of our society

     

  • 40,000 residents to benefit from free health mission

    Over 40,000 residents of Alimosho will benefit from a five-day free health mission which commenced yesterday at the Ipaja Mini stadium in Alimosho.

    The health mission which is a yearly affair is put together by the Prince of Hope Turns to Reality Foundation, an initiative of a member of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Adebisi Yusuff.

    Yusuff said the number of beneficiaries has kept increasing over the years, “like last year, we attended to about 30,000 people with over 300 undergoing surgery. We expect over 40,000 people this year because past beneficiaries have given the programme wider publicity.”

    Yusuff said residents and non-residents of Alimosho with various ailments will be attended to and that free surgery would be performed on those with health challenges like: Hernia, Lumpectomy, Ganglion, Keloid among others, while free glasses will be given out including tests and treatment for other ailments like diabetes, typhoid, HBP etc.

    The lawmaker also said that apart from local medical personnel, there are also 25 medical personnel from the United States (US) on ground as part of the medical team.

  • Alimosho still Tinubu’s country, says Adeola

    Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content , Senator Solomon Adeola has said  the foundation for the present development in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state was laid by the administration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Lagos State governor.

    Adeola’s  Media Adviser Chief Kayode Odunaro said this led to the most populous council in Nigeria being called “Tinubu’s Country”.

    Hailing Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the giant strides he has made through infrastructural growth in Alimosho LGA and five Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), Adeola who re[resents Lagos West in the Senate , said Tinubu’s foundation for development of Alimosho as well as other areas of the mega city of Lagos is now being taken to another level of linkage with neighbouring state of Ogun.

    He described the new development as “a commendable step for desire economic integration of the Southwest”.

    The senator urged constituents to see the recently commissioned 21 roads and two bridges executed by Ambode as their own share of democracy dividends.

    He stressed that they should refrain from activities that would degrade the infrastructure like blocking drainages or making bon fires on roads.

    “These infrastructures were constructed to last for many years. Beyond easing traffic congestion problem, the roads are meant to boost real estate and other economic activities in these densely populated parts of Lagos State,” he said.

    Alimosho APC leaders denounce alleged division

    Leaders of  All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alimosho Federal Constituency in Lagos State came out yesterday in large numbers  to denounce rumour of division in their fold.

    Amid singing and dancing at a news conference at the Lagos West Senatorial Office of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also known as Yayi, in Ikeja,, the leaders said the reports of division were figments of imagination of a section of the social media.

    The party leaders affirmed their loyalty to Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State  and  Governor Rauf Aregbesola  of Osun State and others.

    They used  the opportunity  to endorse Ambode  for a second term in office.

    Speaking for the group,the APC Organising Secretary  in the state ,Abdullahi Enilolomo said the party leaders were surprised by the social media reports that the APC members in the constituency were in disarray.

    To show the true position of things in the party, he called out those who were aggrieved in the party to come out, but nobody came out.

    Enilolobo, thereafter, started calling out the party leaders, who were members of the APC key organs in the constituency and they all came out to indicate they backed the party leaders’ position.

    Their representatives were also called out to address the gathering and they in turn affirmed that APC was united in the constituency.

  • Club donates to school

    Lions Clubs of Egbeda and Lagos Valiant have donated writing materials and text books to pupils of State Senior High School, Alimosho, Lagos State.

    President of Lions Club of Egbeda Adekunle Akinremi, emphasised the need to support education and increase literacy level among youths.

    ‘It is very interesting to be part of humanitarian service because you voluntarily donate from your heart. We are giving back to the pupils to better their lives and encourage them .Though education is expensive, but it is necessary.

    “With the little we can give as human beings, let us remember people who cannot afford some things. Not all parents can afford sending a child to school, but some are schooling on government scholarship. However, we cannot put everything on the government, citizens have to support the less-privileged or people in need,”Akinremi said at the school premises, venue of the event.

    Principal of the school, Oladoyin Tajudeen, lauded members of the club for their gesture. He implored pupils to pay attention to their studies

    “I feel great whenever an organisation identified with education because education is the only legacy we can give to our children. However, pupils should also pay attention to their studies and become successful in order to give back to the society,’’ he said.

    Lagos Valiant Lions Club Project Director, Lion Agboola Taiwo, enjoined individuals to take part in humanitarian activities to make life easier for everyone. He said: “The synergy we add together to contribute to the less privilege will go a long way in making so many people happy . If we always decide to contribute little amount for humanitarian activity the world would be a very better place to live.”

    ‘How we’ll curb kidnapping at Alimosho’

    The police yesterday said it had improved surveillance and deployed more resources to Ijegun, Igando and Ijedodo, all in Alimosho Local Government Area (LGA) to contain cases of kidnapping and cultism.

    Acting Police Commissioner in Lagos Imohimi Edgal stated this during a town hall meeting with stakeholders of Area M Command held at Ikotun.

    Edgal said the command was aware that dislodged militants from Ikorodu creeks infiltrated the areas through the creeks, adding that it had to take practical steps to sweep off the criminals before they could regroup.

    According to him, a lot of suspects have been arrested and would be paraded in the coming days.

    Edgal said: “From our crime statistics of recent, kidnapping is on the decline. That is to show our strategy is working. When most of those kidnappers and militants were dislodged from Ikorodu and environs, we got intelligence report that they were moving to this place (Alimosho).

    “That was why more resources were pushed to these areas. Now, we have more consultation and more partnership in fighting the crime. We have been making a lot of progress because we are getting more information from the public.”a

    THE chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) in the forthcoming council election in Lagos State, in Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area, Mrs Morenikeji Williams has praised a former chairman of the council area, Hon Jimoh Ajao, for his sterling leadership qualities. Williams made the remarks when she led other party members and supporters on a walk from the Ikotun secretariat of the LCDA to Alimosho council secretariat.

    She explained that the rally was conceived to appreciate the leadership role of Hon Ajao The walk which also had in attendance a member representing Alimosho constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Bisi Yussuf, was well attended by all APC candidates in the forthcoming council poll.

    Williams said: “I don’t believe in celebrating people after their death, that is why we are celebrating one of our leaders here in Alimosho, in the person of Hon Jimoh Ajao. It was Hon. Jimoh that showcased us before other leaders started to assist us, and if there is anybody that let people to know me, definitely it is Hon Jimoh, who made me his deputy when he was the chairman of this local government.

    Ambode endorses Alimosho economic summit

    Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has endorsed the maiden Alimosho Economic Summit.
    The summit is being organised by Alimosho Mail in conjunction with Vintage Press Limited, publishers of The Nation.
    The event, with the theme: Exploring Real Investment Opportunities for Economic and Developmental Rebirth, is in line with the governor’s plans to have different areas of Lagos State deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
    The event will hold on May 15 at the prestigious De Santos Hotel in Akowonjo.
    It is expected to bring together public and private sectors as well as corporate titans.
    Participants are expected to explore the dynamic nature of Alimosho.
    A statement by the organisers reads: “Alimosho is capable of contributing over 40 per cent of the proposed N1 trillion budget of the state in the next two years, considering the massive infrastructural development being carried out by the present administration, which is unprecedented in the 50 years of Lagos State.

    Lagos warns residents under high tension cables to vacate

    Lagos State Government has warned residents and traders living or plying their trade under high tension cables across the state to vacate such places.

    Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force SP. Olayinka Saheed Egbeyemi gave this warning yesterday while speaking with the press during the demolition of illegal structures and over 350 illegal shops constructed under high tension cables at Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun Modern Market, Isheri – Olofin under Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area in Alimosho.

    Egbeyemi confirmed that residents and traders of these illegal structures and shops/shanties were served adequate statutory notices before the demolition exercise.

    The demolition exercise was jointly carried out by Lagos State Task Force, Lagos State Building Control Agency and Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

    While confirming that the residents and traders were allowed to remove their goods and properties, Egbeyemi said the exercise was carried out by the government in order to protect lives and properties of people living in the State.

    The Assistant General Secretary of Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun Modern Market Alfa Yisa Mudashiru in his reactyion to the demolition, however said that they have been selling and living inside the market for over 35 years. Adding that they developed the illegal markets in conjunction with officials of Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area.

    He also confirmed that they were served adequate notices and that both the ‘Baba Oloja’, Mr. Salami Alao and ‘Iya Oloja’, Alhaja Irat Adebayo were lobbing government officials for a stay of execution before today.

    The leader of the Hausa Community at the market Alahaji Aliyu Galadima  said the market was divided among the three ethnic groups namely Yoruba, Hausa and Igbo.

    Galadima stated that immediately notices were served, he and his other ethnic group leaders quickly informed residents and traders of the market about the intention of the government.

    He however commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for his zero tolerance on safety standard measures across the State.

    Egbeyemi disclosed that other areas where illegal structures and shops were constructed under high tension cables have been adequately served with demolition notices.

    “With time the machinery of government would move to demolish such illegal structures within other local governments and local council development areas in the State”, he said.

    Each shop is said to have been sold out rightly between N1.5m to N3m or a monthly rent of N5,000 by a developer ‘Jasiours Enterprises’ who got the property from two sons of the monarch of Isheri, Oba Wahab Ayinde Balogun; the names of the two sons are, Mr. Samson Wahab Balogun, a.k.a Oba and Idris Wahab Balogun, a.k.a Oluomo who claimed to be owners of the land.

    One Mr. Paul Akuagbe and his wife, Mrs Florence Akuagbe disclosed that they just paid the developer N30 million last Monday for out right purchase of 10 shops.

    The affected residents and traders are therefore  calling on the government to help them recover their money running into millions of naira from the developer.
