    Sokoto governor: I won’t condone misconduct

    •Gets report of inquire into state management

    Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu Sokoto has been presented with the report of the Justice Muazu Abdulkadir Pindiga (retired) Commission of Inquiry into the activities of the administration of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal between May 29, 2015 and May 29, 2023.

    Receiving the report in Government House, Sokoto yesterday, the governor vowed that his administration will not entertain misconduct by any of his executive members, insisting that the government was elected based on trust, public confidence and service to the people of the state.

    According to him, the Commission of Inquiry under the Chairmanship of Justice Pindiga(rtd) was not directed at promoting an act of vendetta nor targeted at witch-hunting any individual but in the interest of the people of the state and in fulfillment of his administration’s commitment to running a transparent, honest and accountable governance with respect for the yearnings and aspirations of the state.

    “It is not to drive an act of vendetta, settle political scores or target any individual but to dignify the constitutional provisions and to adequately discharge our civil responsibility in the interest of good governance  and genuine concerns raised by the people of the state in line with the constitutional provisions,’’ he said.

    He explained that it was intended to examine certain aspects and activities of the state management to ascertain facts, examine records, testimonies through findings for proper recommendations by the Commission based on evidence.

    “This is not alien. It is anchored within the cold mines of the rule of law and not man and we will treat the document according to due process.

    “A committee of trustees will be constituted to study and come up with a White Paper in line with the principles of justice inorder to shape the development of Sokoto state and for the generation yet unborn”, the governor stressed , thanking and and appreciating members of the commission for what he described as diligent and enormous work done by the Commission to the government of Sokoto State,’’ he said.

    Eid-el -kabir: Sokoto approves early payment of June salary

    In an effort to assist civil servants in observing the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival with ease, Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has directed the early payment of June salary beginning from Monday, June 2.

    According to a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Bawa, the salary payment will cover state and local government workers, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) staff, as well as pensioners across the state.

    This magnanimous gesture, the third of its kind since the inception of the present administration, is aimed at ensuring that civil servants are able to purchase sacrificial animals and adequately prepare for the festival.

    Gov. Sokoto, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for the pilgrimage, urged civil the servants to reciprocate the government’s goodwill through greater dedication and commitment to duty.

    He added: “Since we assumed office, we have undertaken several initiatives to support our workers, including prompt payment of salaries, restoration of cash allocations to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), Sallah gifts, and the payment of backlogs of gratuities and pensions to our retirees.

    He also assured the people of his unwavering resolve to deliver more dividends of democracy to all parts of the state.

    Sokoto gov enjoins scholars on peaceful sermons

    Sokoto State Governor, Dr Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, has called on respected islamic scholars in the state and country to continue to preach peace for a united, and egalitarian Nigerian society.

    He said: “this is one significant aspect of immeasurable importance neglected by the immediate past government which we decided to promote with passion.

    “We will continue to support our religious leaders, enhance the propagation of Islamic knowledge, and ensure that our faith remains at the heart of governance.”

    Governor Sokoto, who pleaded with scholars at the weekend while unveiling more empowerment and social intervention programmes and initiatives to assist and support scholars(Malaman Zaure) and farmers across 91 communities with input, said the state and country needed the support of their fervent prayers for nation stability.

    According to the governor “we are once again distributing cash and food assistance to our esteemed scholars in this sacred month of Ramadan”, which he described as a time of mercy, reflection, and generosity.

    Sokoto said his administration remain committed to supporting the pillars of Islamic knowledge and propagation, particularly the revered Malaman Zaure, noting that they played a vital role in guiding the society towards righteousness.

    This, he said, became imperative to strengthen commitment for their important role of leading congregations hence, the government introduced a monthly allowance for Imams, their deputies, and Muazzims, recognizing their invaluable contributions to islam.
