Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach, Fatai Amoo has said the win against Nasarawa United is a sure sign that the side will avoid relegation in the on-going top-flight.

“The impact of our victory against Nasarawa United is that it has brought great hope of survival to our camp once again. If we had lost or drawn the match the hope would have diminished greatly but now the hope is alive that we will beat the drop at the end of the day.

“Looking at where we are at the moment there is still a lot to play for in the remaining matches on the calendar. We cannot say we have been impressive on the road, our poor form on the road is the explanation to where we are right now. We have three matches more to determine our fate so we must take it upon ourselves to do the needful in order to bring our dream to reality.

“Against Nasarawa United we were not clinical in the first half but we came into the second half more daring and we were able to get the winning goals. What we need  is to be more daring especially in the remaining two matches on the road at El Kanemi Warriors and Niger Tornadoes to ensure we get some points in the matches.

“Of course, we must avoid any form of gambling with the remaining home match against Akwa United once we achieve the set target, then our position in the top-flight will be guaranteed. For now nothing has been won completely, the battle is still on and we must fight till our goal is achieved,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.

Amoo blames draw on poor finishing

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach Fatai Amoo has said poor finishing robbed his side of the desired result against Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.

“It’s squarely poor finishing not inexperience that resulted in the draw as the players who missed the chances at goal are experienced. We created several chances at goal but due credit must go to the opponents’ back men, they performed well in the game.

“Well, if you ask me I will say the draw is a disappointing result but I’m happy that I got a point instead of forfeiting all three points to the opponents. I’m not daunted as I know with time everything will work perfectly well,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.

The Oluyole Warriors were held to 1-1 draw by the Olukoya Boys in Wednesday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 4 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The Lagos outfit scored the opener off the foot of Sikiru Olatunbosun while Abayomi Adebayo scored quite late into the game from the penalty spot to even scores for the Ibadan landlords. Amoo said the result did not meet his pre-match expectation but happy not to have ceded all three points to MFM FC.

The point against MFM FC brings 3SC’s points tally to four from a possible 12 in the four-week old top-flight.

3SC head coach, Fatai Folorunsho Amoo has stated that his boys gave a good account of themselves despite losing to Kano Pillars last Sunday in the NPFL Match Day Three tie in Kano.
The Oluyole Warriors surprised their hosts when they shot ahead in the 41st minute of the tie through Adigun Adewale but they were undone by the two goals of Adamu Mohammed which came in the 47th and 90th minutes of the tie.
But Amoo told SportingLife that besides little mistakes made by his defenders which resulted in the two goals they conceded, they would have left Kano with at least a point and he has charged his wards to prepare their minds ahead of the Wednesday duel with MFM in Ibadan.
He said the Olukoya Boys are a very tough side and that with the match being another local derby they must prepare harder to get the three points at stake.

    Amoo relishes win against Lobi

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach, Fatai Amoo has said he is quite pleased with his side’s performance against Lobi Stars.

The Oluyole Warriors benched the Pride of Benue 2-0 in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 1 clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasimgba, Ibadan.

Afolabi Waheed’s brilliant goal in the 22nd minute and substitute, Sunday Faleye’s 66th goal proved adequate to hand the Ibadan landlords the  three points at stake in the hard fought clash.

Amoo said his youngsters acquitted themselves handsomely but insisted it is not yet celebration time.

“The players gave their very best in the encounter against a difficult side, Lobi Stars winning with two unreplied goals.

“However, we cannot say we have arrived or start celebrating but I know we will continue to get better as the season progresses.

“Lobi Stars are experienced and matured side equally gave good account of themselves, too in the encounter.

“I think my players took good advantage of the early chance to score the match opener then got the icing on the cake if not the match would have been difficult for them to finish on high.

“We are happy starting our campaign brilliantly we will take it further in subsequent matches,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will be the guests of Sunshine Stars in mid-week matchday 2 clash at the Akure Township Stadium.

“I’m excited and happy to return to 3SC though I always feel at home anywhere I find myself in the land. The challenges are there at 3SC just like any other sides but the challenges are surmountable.

Amoo excited as Nigeria U-23 pip Brazil 1-0

The interim head coach of the Nigeria U-23 team, Fatai Amoo has said the display of his boys against host Brazil has justified their emergence as the African champions, and shown that they really can win gold at the Olympics in Rio come August this year.

Speaking after the Dream Team defeated Brazil by a lone goal, Coach Amoo admitted that his boys struggled to contain the hosts in the first half as they launched their attack from the left wing, but the team was able to redress that in the second half.

“The first half was very difficult for us, but then it is expected, having in mind that we scored an early goal and as such it was expected they would come all out against us to get the equalizer, but I must give my boys a lot of credit for holding their own.

“The boys did a great job, if you recall that 80 per cent of the boys we brought here were just meeting one another for the first time, and we needed to see all of them in match situation. I’m happy we have seen them and this is hopiing that as we play more friendlies, we would discover more players that will compete for jerseys before the Olympics proper.

“No doubt, our goalkeeper (Emmanuel Daniel) kept us in the game with a number of great saves before he was substituted.

Even the substitute (Yusuf Mohammed) also did his bit. All in all, some players like Ezekiel Imoh and Sodiq Popoola were outstanding and I am happy for the team.”

Brazil, who are yet to win Olympics football gold, created the better chances, but they either failed to put them away or goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel and his defence were resolute in keeping them out.

Ubong Ekpai fired the match winner for Nigeria off a rebound after just four minutes, when Imoh, who was a thorn in the flesh of the Brazilians went past his marker and his resultant pull out saw Popoola hitting a shot that rebounded for Ekpai to score.

Thereafter, Brazil threw everything at Nigeria, coming close in the 19th minute through Felipe Anderson and on 27 minutes, when Alisson’s angled header crashed against the crossbar.

Turkey-based Nigeria defender Musa Mohammed was booked in the 16th minute, for stamping on a Brazilian midfielder. For the second half, Brazil made three changes, throwing in Wallace, Clayton and Wendell.

  • Nigeria,Cote d’Ivoire friendly: Amoo warns Eagles to play safe

Nigeria’s Dream Team VI assistant coach, Fatai Amoo has called for caution during the Super Eagles B team pre-CHAN clash against Elephants of Ivory Coast.

The West African rivals will play a warm-up match today in Pretoria, South Africa in continuation of their preparations for the fourth African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Kigali, Rwanda.

The Nigerians played two warm-up matches last week against the PSL side, University of Pretoria and the Angolan opposite, Palancas Negras.

Amoo said the fact that the kickoff of the biennial championship is almost at hand calls for absolute carefulness in the side’s approach to the Ivorian friendly tie. “I think the Super Eagles’ last friendly match against Ivory Coast prior to departure to the championship venue in Kigali, Rwanda on Friday is a game they must be careful so as not to cop further injury. If permitted I should tag the warm-up match a ‘careful or cautious game.

“I think safety of the players must be uppermost not result so that they can get to the championship 100% fit as well as chance going far in the competition.

“We (Dream Team VI) suffered doses of injuries in friendly matches going to the African Olympic qualifying championship in Senegal so CHAN Eagles must avoid such reoccurrence,” said the former Super Eagles assistant coach to supersport.com.

Nigeria are in Group C with Niger, Guinea and Tunisia and will kick start its title campaign on  January 18 against neighbours, Niger at the Stade Regional Nyamirambo in Kigali, Rwanda.

ALL AFRICA GAMES: Amoo likes Dream team glory

Nigeria’s Under-23 Olympic team assistant coach, Fatai Amoo has said his side have high chances of success at the upcoming All Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo despite glaring challenges.

The Dream Team VI will open its medal account clash against the West African foes, Senegal on September 04.

Amoo said though the side will sorely miss key players due to injuries and non-availability they must dig deep to kickoff the campaign brightly against Senegal.

“We have 50/50 chances of success at the Games just like the other members of the group.

“Of course, we know the importance of the first game and the importance of starting a campaign on a good note.

“Senegal are force to be reckoned with in the continent especially given their performance at the World Cup coupled with the fact that they will be hosting the Caf Olympic qualifying championship later in the year.

“We do not want to make excuses but the reality is that we may not have a seizable number of our players who started the process as well as imbibed the team’s chemistry and philosophy.

“After our qualifier in Congo some of them went out to seek greener pastures elsewhere and not yet back.

“Though the exercise is positive for the country for players to go out to enhance their potentials to come to play for the mainstream side,Super Eagles.

“However,it has a hurting effect on their team as they have geared perfectly with the rest of teammates.

“The All Africa Games do not have rooms to replace a registered players for the championship so we are condemned to make use of what we have at hand.

“Thank God we have not lost the whole players, at least, we have 75% of the players intact.

“Two other very strong members, Usman Mohammed and Chima Akas are with the Super Eagles.

“We will sorely miss their services so these and more are the stark realities we are faced and must confront squarely in Brazzaville, Congo.

“Besides,if Egypt were not replaced it will make the group’s qualification tickets tricky and tougher.

“These are challenges we must overcome in order to claim our rightful spot in the Games ” said the former Super Eagles assistant coach to supersport.com.

The Nigerians other group’s members include now withdrawn North African side, Egypt, Ghana and Senegal.

  • Goal scoring major headache of Dream Team- Amoo

Goal scoring major headache of Dream Team- Amoo

First Assistant Coach of Dream Team VI Fatai Amoo has disclosed that the only grey area the technical crew of the team led by Samson Siasia is seriously working on is how the team’s strikers would be able to convert the numerous begging chances created in every single match they have played.

The Nigeria’s U- 23 national team has a date with Congo in the first leg of the final round of CAF U-23 Championship qualifier against visiting Claude Leroy’s tutored Congo’s U- 23 national team slated for Port Harcourt on July 19.

The former Assistant Coach of the Super Eagles told SportingLife that the team has really progressed and has matured compared with when they started but the grey area still remains conversion of numerous chances that the team creates in every single match played. He said that there was need to reduce the rate of missed chances because this could cost any team but was quick to assure that these lapses would be corrected before the July 19, 2015 match day against visiting Congo in Port Harcourt.

“We have been training very hard for the Congo match and we have been pushing the players real hard to play the way the Chief Coach wants so that we can achieve a convincing victory against the Congolese team come July 18, 2015. The Port Harcourt Camp has been very conducive for the team and also good for our plans to get the needed victory that day.

“There is no any day in training that we don’t work on goal scoring. That has been a serious problem because if you want to look at chances created in all the matches the team has played and the goals scored you will see that we cannot really draw a line of comparison that our goal scoring has been as good as we want it to be. Every time we are always on goal scoring exercises including when the players has to shoot, we also work on crosses and others.”

The Dream Team VI continued to win every test game they have played as they followed it up with another emphatic 3-1 victory against hard fighting Freestan football Club of Lagos played at the practicing pitch of the Adokiye Amesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt on Saturday.

The Samson Siasia coached Dream Team VI opened scoring in the 19th minute through Godwin Saviour, while the second goal was scored by defender Stanley Amuzie in the 34th minute and Taiwo Awoniyi who replaced Junior Ajayi at the beginning of the second scored the third goal in the 73rd minute of the game. The first half had ended 2-1 in favour of Dream Team VI while Freestan scored their only goal in the first half.
