    NPFL:  Hotshot  Yusuf shoots down leaders Remo Stars

    The leading scorer in the NPFL Anas Yusuf scored the goal for Nasarawa United to stop leaders Remo Stars in one  of the week  26 matches played yesterday , while Enugu Rangers climbed to third place after a 3-0 home win over Sunshine Stars.

    CHAN Eagles striker Yusuf hit target after 25 minutes and that proved to be the winning goal against Remo Stars in Lafia. He has now netted 14 goals this season.

    Remo Stars remain top of the standings, but the gap at the top has been narrowed after Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw at Enyimba and Enugu Rangers thumped Sunshine Stars 3-0.

    Shooting Stars are second on 42 points, nine points adrift of Remo Stars, while Rangers now have 41 points to move to third position.

    Lobi Stars remain rooted at the bottom of the table after they fell 2-0 at home against Niger Tornadoes, while Plateau United and Kano Pillars won at home and Kwara United and Heartland were held at home.

    NPFL leading scorer Yusuf leads 35 call-ups to CHAN

    The leading scorer in the NPFL Anas Yusuf of Nasarawa United has been called up with 34 other players to the CHAN Eagles training camp ahead of a final playoff against arch-rivals Ghana.

    Anas Yusuf has netted eight goals including two hat-tricks thus far this season.

    The camp will open in Abuja on Tuesday, October 29.

    Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen also called to camp Remo Stars’ wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Kano Pillars’ forward Zikifilu Rabiu and Enugu Rangers’ attacking midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye among a list of 35 players of Super Eagles B for the 2025 African Nations Championship qualifying fixture against Ghana.

    The first leg of the fixture, which is a reminder of the qualification series for the last edition of the competition, which Ghana edged on penalty shootout, is billed for the weekend of 20th – 22nd December, with the return leg a week later.
