    Apatira bags Africa Leadership Award

    The Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr Ahmed Apatira, has been honoured with the prestigious Africa Leadership Excellence Award.

    The award recognises his outstanding contributions to leadership and community development was presented to him during Independence Day celebration organised by the council.

    The event featured match-past, choreography and a cultural display.

    Apatira expressed his gratitude for the recognition, calling it a reflection of the council’s efforts to improve the lives of its citizens.

    “I am humbled to receive this prestigious award. It motivates us to continue building a better future for our community,” he said.

    The award highlighted Apatira’s leadership in key areas like education, healthcare, economic growth, infrastructural development and community development.

    His administration has been praised for its forward-thinking initiatives that have positively impacted the LCDA.

    The council boss introduced economic relief palliatives to cushion the effects of the current economic challenges which include; food assistance programmes, free skills acquisition training, and distribution of free GCE forms to indigent students.

    Apatira urged residents to remain patient amidst economic difficulties.

    He assured them of the council’s commitment to a prosperous future.

    “Let us unite for a better Nigeria and show our children we are committed to their future,” he said.

    A Councilor representing Baruwa Ward, Mrs Adebisi Adetayo, lauded and acknowledged the excellent role of the council boss.

     She said: “Apatira is excellent in his role. He is always there for us, and he’s a leader who listens to his poeple. He does not overlook the importance of children,” he said.

    Apatira urges women to be prudent

    The Chairman of Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Dr Ahmed Apatira has urged Nigerian women to be prudent in the management of resources to survive the precarious situation triggered by the current economic downturn in the country.

    The council boss made the appeal today at the Community Women’s Conference 2024, Themed: Surviving Though Times organised by the Department of Women Affairs and Poverty at the Council Secretariat.

    Dr. Apatira said that the conference is aimed at supporting the council in the development of the state and its people by sensitising women to contemporary social issues that affect communities as well as proffering solutions.

    He said: “I am particularly delighted to note the useful and credible intellectual conversations we have had today, and my solemn pledge is to build on the gains of this initiative to continue to serve as the platform to expand the frontiers of the society, thereby positively impacting the home and society at large.

    “A peaceful home is the bedrock of a peaceful society. When we get it right on the home front, society is the ultimate beneficiary. Conversely, when we get it wrong at the level of the family, the larger society will be on the receiving end.”

    The facilitator, Folawe Apanisile, a nurse and social worker, with 37 years of experience, enjoined women to always check your weight, dress well to look good, eat balanced diet, exercise regularly and get enough sleep.

    Apanisile said they should also control your emotions, stop brooding over challenges, make themselves happy and smile always.

    She said the above listed acts would women survive the tough times.

    “They will also to avoid depression or hypertension which would affect their mental state and health if they follow above instructions,” she said.
