APC northern youths back Wike, condemn protests

The APC Northern Youths Forum has passed a vote of confidence in the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Nyesom Wike, praising his performance and describing his leadership as transformative for Abuja.

Speaking at a press conference, the group said the FCT had witnessed remarkable improvements in infrastructure, security and economic activities under Wike’s stewardship, making the nation’s capital safer, more prosperous and more livable.

The Forum said Wike’s delivery on key mandates distinguished him as a results-oriented public office holder who had justified the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

It also commended the minister for his “unwavering loyalty” to President Tinubu, noting that his support for the administration’s reforms and development agenda reflected commitment to national unity and progress.

According to the group, Wike’s leadership style has promoted inclusivity and youth empowerment, creating opportunities for young Nigerians to participate meaningfully in governance and nation-building.

The youths condemned protests being staged against the FCT minister, alleging that those behind them were driven by selfish interests rather than genuine concern for Abuja or the country.

They described the protests as deliberate attempts to distract the minister and derail ongoing development efforts in the FCT, warning that such actions were inimical to national progress.

In a statement signed by its Coordinator, Haruna Bature, the APC Northern Youths Forum reaffirmed its support for Wike and President Tinubu, urging the minister to remain focused on delivering dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

    • Dele Momodu joins ADC in Edo

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin yesterday received the son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Mr. Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In Edo State, the publisher of Ovation magazine, Chief Dele Momodu, yesterday joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Abubakar’s defection gave the APC a major political gain in the preparations for the 2027 general election.

The son of the ex-Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, promised to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Abubakar, popularly known as Abba, formally announced his defection to the APC at the National Assembly, where he was received by Senator Barau alongside other APC leaders from the Northeast.

Party leaders described the move as a significant boost for the APC’s consolidation efforts ahead of the next general election, given Abba’s political network and grassroots organisation.

Announcing his resignation from the PDP, Abba said his decision was informed by his conviction in the leadership style of Senator Barau and the policies of the Tinubu administration.

“My name is Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, but everyone calls me Abba. I am here today to formally announce my exit from my former party and my decision to join the APC,” he said.

Abba pledged to work closely with Senator Barau to actualise President Tinubu’s second-term ambition, directing members and coordinators of his political structure, formerly known as the Haske Atiku Organisation, to immediately align with the APC and support the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“With this development, I will work with Senator Barau to actualise the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. To this effect, I am directing all coordinators of my association to join the APC and work for President Tinubu,” he added.

Welcoming him, the APC National Vice Chairman (Northeast), Mustapha Salihu, described the defection as symbolic and far-reaching.

“Today is one of my happiest days. This is politics without borders. He has seen the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration and decided to align with them,” Salihu said.

The Northeast APC chairman assured the new entrant of equal rights and opportunities within the party.

Barau congratulated Abba for what he called a “bold and principled decision,” stressing that the move was driven by ideology rather than sentiment.

“You didn’t come here because of who your father is. You came because you believe in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his ideology and the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Barau said.

The Deputy Senate President disclosed that Abba, who had been following political developments from the United States, was impressed by the administration’s reforms, which influenced his return home and decision to join the APC.

“He is young, focused and determined to contribute to shaping the future of our country. This is the kind of youth Nigeria needs,” Barau added.

A presidential aide, Alhaji Mahmoud Abdullahi, assured Abba of President Tinubu’s support, describing his defection as a homecoming.

“Just like Atiku, Tinubu is also your father. Your decision is like returning home. You and your coordinators have a future in this party,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Kano State Coordinator of the organisation, Mubarak Musa, said the defection was strategic, adding that all political activities of the group would now be coordinated through Senator Barau.

“We have worked round the clock for our former platform. We will double our efforts and deliver for the APC in 2027,” Musa said, describing Senator Barau as their political father and a key pillar of the party in the North.

The high point of the event was the renaming of Abba’s political organisation from Haske Atiku Organisation to Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation, signalling a full realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.

Also, Atiku described the decision of his son to join the ruling APC as “entirely personal”.

Reacting through his verified X page (formerly Twitter), Atiku said: “The decision of my son, Abba Abubakar, to join the APC is entirely personal.

“In a democracy, such choices are neither unusual nor alarming, even when family and politics intersect.

“As a democrat, I do not coerce my own children in matters of conscience, and I certainly will not coerce Nigerians.

“What truly concerns me is the poor governance of the APC and the severe economic and social hardships it has imposed on our people.

“I remain resolute in working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance and offer Nigerians a credible alternative that brings relief, hope, and progress.”

Also, Momodu said he joined the ADC not because of his political ambition but driven by a desire to contribute to national renewal.

The popular journalist said he planned to work with like-minded Nigerians to rescue and reposition the country.

He denied nursing the ambition to contest for an elective office but expressed his commitment to right the wrongs in the country.

“Today, I stand before my leaders as I humbly reintegrate myself into the democratic process of my state.

“Many people have asked whether I intend to contest for governor or senator, but I tell them clearly that my interest is to promote the welfare and aspirations of our people.

“My decision to pick up the party card today is only the beginning of a journey. My mission is to join hands with citizens of like minds to rescue, recover and reset Nigeria.

“Nigeria must be rescued from the drift towards a one-party state. This task requires the total commitment of the majority of Nigerians who refuse to be enslaved in their own country,” Momodu said.

Reacting to Momodu’s defection, a former governor of Edo State, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said the country’s situation demanded collective action by principled and patriotic citizens.

“Today is unique in the history of the African Democratic Congress because it marks a significant milestone in our quest to reposition Nigeria.

“Chief Dele Momodu is one of the Nigerians who played a key role in keeping the military out of politics. Today, we find ourselves in another existential struggle that will determine the future of this country.

“This is not yet a campaign, but we are warming up—gathering friends, men and women of integrity, and principled minds like Dele Momodu.

“He is not a typical politician. As a media professional, he has long held politicians accountable, and his decision to join us speaks volumes. These are the kind of people Nigeria urgently needs.

“The burden Nigerians have carried since independence has become unbearable, and we must all work together to redeem the country from this needless hardship,” Odigie-Oyegun said.

    APC e-registration: Governor, minister captured

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has kicked off the electronic registration (e-registration) of its members across the country.

In Abia State, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, flagged off the exercise in Umunneochi Local Government Area.

The registration was formally launched at Uhuolugho Hall in Ezi Ngodo Ward, Isuochi Town.

Onyejeocha thanked APC members in Umunneochi for their loyalty and steadfast support for the party over the years.

The minister said the e-registration marked a significant step in strengthening the party’s structure at the grassroots.

She noted that the nationwide e-registration was designed to establish an accurate membership database, deepen internal party democracy, and bring the dividends of democracy closer to the people.

“This e-registration is an opportunity for us to truly know our members and to strengthen our party from the ward level upwards.

“It is also a way of ensuring that governance and party organisation are driven by real data and genuine participation,” she said.

Onyejeocha urged new and existing APC members to register in their wards, stressing that the APC remained an inclusive party for all Nigerians who share the vision of national progress.

“The APC is a big family. It is open to everyone who desires a prosperous nation and believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she stated.

The minister assured APC executives of her commitment to provide all necessary logistics to ensure a smooth and successful registration exercise.

She promised to extend similar support to other parts of Abia State to guarantee a hitch-free e-registration process across the state.

Onyejeocha urged all Abians to participate in the exercise and party stakeholders at all levels to mobilise members to register in large numbers.

The APC Chairman in Umunneochi Local Government Area, Nze Peter Igwe, said the e-registration would help determine the true voting strength of the party in the area and enhance effective planning ahead of future elections.

In Benue State, Governor Hyacinth Alia yesterday registered as the number one member of the APC in the state.

The governor was registered at the Mbadede Ward of his hometown, Ihugh, in Vandeikya Local Government Area.

Addressing party faithful after receiving the printout of his registration by the State Acting Chairman of the party, Benjamin Omale, Governor Alia urged all members of the party to visit their ward headquarters to revalidate their registration.

Omale said those willing to join the APC should also approach the registration areas to become registered party members.

Alia said: “In 2023, you demonstrated to the entire world that Benue is APC. You demonstrated through the ballots that you love me and Mr. President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We have both remained faithful to the promises set out in our policy blueprints.”

The governro, who hailed President Tinubu and the national chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, for the initiative, added: “I, therefore, urge you to come out and use this opportunity to once again demonstrate that you are ready to vote for consolidation.

“My administration will give priority attention to the most registered areas because this is an APC administration.”

He urged all council chairmen and party chairmen in the local governments to give the registration agents all the needed support and to mobilise the people to participate in the exercise.

In Enugu State, the APC membership e-registration programme has gathered momentum.

Prominent party chieftains and other stakeholders rallied members and supporters to embrace the exercise.

At Orba Ward 2 in Udenu Local Government Area, former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi formally registered as a member of the APC during the flag-off in Enugu North Senatorial District.

Speaking after his registration, Ugwuanyi hailed President Tinubu for what he called his administration’s bold economic, social, and security reforms that are yielding positive results across the country.

The former governor hailed the President for infrastructural interventions in the Southeast and Enugu State in particular.

He cited the ongoing reconstruction and dualisation of the Ninth Mile–Markurdi highway and other key road projects as clear indicators of the administration’s commitment to the region.

Ugwuanyi endorsed President Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general election.

The former governor also expressed appreciation to the President for finding him worthy to serve the nation in a diplomatic capacity, noting that Tinubu’s engagement with the Southeast has helped to strengthen national inclusion.

He urged the residents of Enugu State to come out en masse to participate in the e-registration exercise.

Ugwuanyi described it as critical to strengthening the party’s base ahead of future elections.

On the political leadership of the state, Ugwuanyi described the re-election of Peter Mbah as “non-negotiable,” citing his performance in office and the convention of allowing governors a second term to consolidate their programmes.

Also, at the Amaechi Awkunanaw community in Enugu South Local Government Area, former Senate President Ken Nnamani led the flag-off of the APC e-registration for the area.

Nnamani underscored the strategic importance of the exercise, recalling that the APC recorded only 4,776 votes in the state during the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, a stronger party membership base will naturally translate into improved electoral outcomes.

He noted that with a robust membership strength, the party would be better positioned to mobilise voters and significantly increase its vote tally in future elections.

Nnamani also stressed the importance of combining party registration with voter card ownership to maximise political participation.

The former Senate President applauded President Tinubu’s performance under what he called challenging national circumstances, affirming that this was the basis for the growing support for the President in the Southeast.

He also expressed confidence in Governor Mbah’s political influence, particularly in Nkanu land.

He noted that closer collaboration between the Enugu State Government and the federal administration should reflect positively at the polls.

“What Governor Mbah has achieved in about two and a half years, many past governors could not achieve in eight years,” Nnamani said, adding that the enthusiasm displayed by residents towards the e-registration exceeded expectations.

The exercise, coordinated in the state by Chief Flavour Eze, also featured goodwill messages from the member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Paul Nnamchi, and the Chairman of Enugu East Local Government Area, Beloved Dan Anike, both of whom encouraged sustained grassroots mobilisation to ensure the success of the registration drive.

Atiku’s son defects to APC, vows to mobilise for Tinubu’s re-election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) scored a major political gain as Abubakar Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President and 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, dumped the PDP and pledged to work for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Onjeh commends Alia, Omale for APC E-revalidation as members turn out in Orokam

Former Benue South senatorial candidate, Comrade Daniel Onjeh, has commended the leadership of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the ongoing electronic membership revalidation and registration exercise, describing the process as peaceful, well-coordinated, and reflective of renewed unity within the party at the grassroots.

Onjeh spoke while undergoing the e-revalidation exercise at the APC ward headquarters in Adum-Oko, Orokam Ward 2, Council Ward, where a large turnout of party members and residents gathered to witness and participate in the process.

Onjeh, a former President of the National Association of Nigerian Students

(NANS), noted that political parties remain the driving wheels and building blocks of democracy, stressing that the internal organisation, discipline, and inclusiveness of a party often mirror the strength of the wider democratic system.

According to him, reforms aimed at strengthening party structures, particularly within a ruling party, are essential for democratic growth and long-term political stability.

Onjeh, who also served as former Chairman of the Governing Board of the Project Development Institute (PRODA), commended the APC national leadership under the National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, for providing the strategic direction that made the e-revalidation exercise possible nationwide, describing the initiative as a necessary step toward institutional renewal and internal party consolidation.

He also praised Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia, for demonstrating leadership by example through the flag-off of the exercise in Vandeikya Local Government Area and for providing the basic logistical support that ensured its smooth implementation across the state.

He also commended Benue APC leadership under Chief Benjamin Omale for effectively driving the process at the state level.

Onjeh described the exercise so far as commendable, orderly, and professionally handled, noting that it reflected purposeful leadership and sound coordination.

He observed that party officials and personnel trained and deployed for the exercise demonstrated patience and professionalism, contributing significantly to the calm atmosphere recorded at the registration centre.

Onjeh specifically acknowledged Alexandra Ochogwu and Ayegba Fabio Peter, the APC e-registration agents for Orokam Ward 2, for their role in the registration process, noting their diligence and professionalism during the exercise at Orokam Ward 2.

Onjeh further commended APC members and party faithful for their maturity and commitment, noting that the openness of the exercise to all members, regardless of past internal disagreements, showed a clear understanding of the importance of unity and collective progress within the party.

According to him, the exercise has also attracted new entrants and defectors from other political parties, including the People’s Democratic Party. He mentioned that a group led by Idoko Gabriel and Sunnygoodman Agada, alongside several other new members, registered at the Orokam ward headquarters, describing the development as a sign of growing confidence in the APC at the grassroots.

Onjeh also acknowledged and appreciated the presence of key party leaders and stakeholders who came to witness the exercise, including the APC Local Government Chairman for Ogbadibo, Hon. Edwin Apochi, and the Chairman of Chairmen, Godwin Abah, who coordinates the thirteen Council Ward Chairmen of the party in the local government.

He further appreciated Elder Daniel Agbo, the party elder in Orokam Ward, and Abah Okpeke, the party ward leader, commending their steadfastness, guidance, and commitment to keeping the home front stable and united.

Onjeh also expressed appreciation to Akor Joseph Ogidi, who led retired Ogbadibo Local Government staff to the registration centre, describing their presence and participation as a strong show of continued loyalty, civic responsibility, and solidarity with the Alia administration.

He explained that democracy is a process rather than a destination, adding that digital reforms such as the e-revalidation exercise will help tidy up party records, eliminate challenges associated with manual documentation, and enable the party to accurately assess its strength across wards, local governments, and constituencies.

Onjeh called on APC members across Benue State and the country at large to fully embrace the exercise, mobilise others, and take ownership of the party’s growth at the grassroots.

He expressed optimism that the unity, enthusiasm, and turnout witnessed at the Adum-Oko registration centre would translate into stronger party cohesion and improved electoral fortunes in the future.

I want written agreement before I’ll join APC -Kwankwaso

National leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Thursday indicated interest to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Kano governor clarified that he has not rejected the ruling party but was being cautious due to a past experience.

He stated this while addressing NNPP supporters from Rano and Dawakin Tofa local government areas who paid him a loyalty engement visit in his residence in Kano.

He told his guests that his strategic move is to protect them and maintain leverage in negotiations with President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership.

Kwankwaso said his position on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s possible defection has been misunderstood.

“I didn’t say I won’t join APC, but we must first be clearly assured of the future of Kano State government before we join the APC.

“What will be the fate of our lawmakers and other supporters before we agree to defect?

“I will not go to the APC blindly. I must be clearly informed of my role, the direction of the journey, and the fate of our plans for the common people,” he said.

Recalling previous a political alignment, Kwankwaso said his camp had played significant roles in forming the Muhammadu Buhari-led government but were later sidelined.

He emphasised that any defection must be based on clear assurances regarding the protection of his supporters and the Kano State government structures.

According to him, so far, no firm guarantees have been offered to him to safeguard Kwankwasiyya’s interests or ensure fair treatment of its members within any new arrangement.

“Without written assurances, abandoning the NNPP would be premature and risky,” he noted.

JUST IN: Ex-Ondo deputy governor quits PDP over leadership crisis, set to join APC

A former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Ambassador Omolade Oluwateru, has resigned from the crisis-ridden Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Oluwateru, who served as deputy governor to the late Dr Olusegun Agagu, announced his resignation on Thursday during the celebration of his 79th birthday organised by the Asiwaju Mandate Group in Akure, the state capital.

The former Nigerian Ambassador to Uganda said his decision to quit the opposition party was informed by the “lingering leadership crisis” rocking the PDP at both the national and state levels, which he described as a lack of direction, foresight, and internal cohesion.

Oluwateru, who served as deputy governor between 2003 and 2007 and was a former member of the PDP Board of Trustees, specifically accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of worsening the internal crisis within the party.

“I am not leaving politics completely; I am only leaving the PDP. In another one or two weeks, I will let Nigerians know where I am heading politically.

“The problem in the PDP has become so serious that it is no longer manageable. Nyesom Wike has reduced the PDP to nothing, and as a responsible person, I cannot continue in the party.

“I have been in the PDP since 1998. I have never left before, but when the roof of a house is completely blown off, only a few people will remain inside. I have written my resignation letter and submitted it to my ward chairman,” he said.

Reacting, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Engr Ade Adetimehin, described Oluwateru as a man of integrity and a valuable addition to the progressive family and party in the state.

Although the former deputy governor did not formally announce his defection to the APC, Adetimehin expressed confidence that he would join the ruling party.

“Oluwateru is a man of principles and integrity. He is an Omoluabi in the true sense of the word and will add great value to the APC in Ondo state.

“He was the only deputy governor who never rocked the boat. His loyalty to the late Dr Olusegun Agagu speaks volumes. For him to take this decision today shows that he believes in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu and the direction the country is heading,” Adetimehin said.

Also speaking, the Director-General of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, Mr Muyiwa Asagunla, congratulated Oluwateru on behalf of the group and the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, describing him as humble, loyal, and diligent.

Asagunla said the former deputy governor’s life and political career were worthy of emulation, adding that his decision to join the opposition PDP signalled a major collapse in the crisis-ridden party.

“He was twice awarded the most diligent deputy governor during the Agagu administration, with the last award presented by a former acting president.

“He is loyal, humble, and peaceful. There was never any rancour between him and Governor Agagu throughout their tenure. Even at 79, he remains very agile. His decision today marks a significant political shift after staying with the PDP since its formation in 1998,” he said.

Asagunla, however, added that Oluwateru’s exit from the PDP signalled a major blow to the opposition party in Ondo State.

The group later presented gifts to the celebrant on behalf of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, as well as a separate gift from the Minister of Interior, in appreciation of his contributions to public service.

Sources who spoke to the Nation under the condition of anonymity said the decision by Ambassador Oluwateru to leave the PDP is to clear the way for his official defection to the ruling APC in the state.

“His decision to quit PDP is to join his ally and supporters who have all moved to the APC. So, very soon, he would announce his major defection to the ruling APC,” one of the sources said.

The event was attended by leaders and stakeholders of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, including Barrister Corporal Nana Opri, State Secretary; Barrister Ade Pelemo, Director of Legal Matters; and Engineer Babatunde Gbalajobi, Director of Special Duties, among others.

Also present were notable political figures, including Chief Segun Adegoke, a former APC state chairman; Hon Saka Yusuf, former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development; and Mrs Olubunmi Ademosun, former Special Adviser to late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Public and Intergovernmental Relations.

  • Tinubu’s opponents ‘confused’ ahead of 2027 elections, says APC chieftain

Tinubu’s opponents ‘confused’ ahead of 2027 elections, says APC chieftain

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, has said critics of President Bola Tinubu are “confused” because the President is “operating on a different political frequency,” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alawuje dismissed claims that President Tinubu faces any significant electoral threat from opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Nasir El-Rufai, or Peter Obi. He argued that the country deserves “truth over political noise” and leadership defined by strategy, resilience, and long-term vision.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is operating on a different political frequency, and that is precisely why his opponents remain confused,” he said.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Alawuje criticised recent political commentary attributed to media personality Dele Momodu, describing it as “speculative politics disguised as analysis” and asserting that it is outdated and misleading.

He added that suggestions that President Tinubu could be unseated in 2027 on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or through any similar coalition amount to “wrong political novice calculations.”

“None of the mentioned personalities possesses the political weight, structure, or national momentum capable of dislodging President Tinubu in 2027.

“Persisting in this narrative is nothing more than a waste of time, energy, and resources,” Alawuje said.

Alawuje accused some critics of turning attacks on President Tinubu into a commercial enterprise, arguing that criticism now attracts more media attention than objective analysis.

He recalled that Tinubu had warned during the 2023 presidential campaign that insulting or criticizing him had become a business model for certain individuals and platforms.

He further alleged that Dele Momodu’s political assessments were rooted in the past and disconnected from Nigeria’s evolving political realities.

“The Nigeria of today is not operating on recycled assumptions,” Alawuje said. “The 2027 election will be an elephant test, too heavy for Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, given the limits of his political reach, and far too complex for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, considering the entrenched political forces involved.”

Commenting on Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Alawuje suggested that Obi should focus on his private business interests rather than pursuing “political equations that do not add up.”

The APC chieftain maintained that President Tinubu operates on a level beyond that of his critics, which, he said, explains their persistent misunderstanding of his leadership approach.

Highlighting what he described as emerging gains under the Tinubu administration, Alawuje pointed to signs of economic stabilization, including gradual fuel price adjustments after subsidy removal and an improving naira exchange rate.

He also cited the exposure of internal sabotage and what he termed a more mature and strategic diplomatic posture. “Yes, President Tinubu revived many long-abandoned systems simultaneously,” he said. “While critics argue this slowed visible achievements, the truth is that none of these systems can function in isolation.”

Alawuje acknowledged that progress may appear gradual but insisted it is steady and sustainable. He called for constructive criticism rooted in reality rather than what he described as sensational journalism driven by personal relevance and outdated media influence.

APC e-registration gains momentum in Enugu as Ugwuanyi, Nnamani rally support for Tinubu, Mbah

The ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) nationwide membership e-registration programme gathered strong momentum in Enugu State on Wednesday as prominent party leaders and stakeholders rallied members and supporters to embrace the exercise across the state’s senatorial districts.

At Orba Ward 2 in Udenu Local Government Area, former Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, formally registered as a member of the APC during the flag-off for Enugu North Senatorial District.

Speaking after his registration, Ugwuanyi commended Bola Tinubu for what he described as bold economic, social and security reforms that are already yielding positive results across the country.

He particularly lauded the President for infrastructural interventions in the Southeast and Enugu State, citing the ongoing reconstruction and dualisation of the 9th Mile–Markurdi highway and other key road projects as clear indicators of the administration’s commitment to the region. On this basis, Ugwuanyi openly endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in office.

The former Governor also expressed appreciation to the President for finding him worthy to serve the nation in a diplomatic capacity, noting that Tinubu’s engagement with the Southeast has helped to strengthen national inclusion.

He urged residents of Enugu State to come out en masse to participate in the e-registration exercise, describing it as critical to strengthening the party’s base ahead of future elections.

On the political leadership of the state, Ugwuanyi described the re-election of Peter Mbah as “non-negotiable,” citing his performance in office and the convention of allowing governors a second term to consolidate their programmes.

At Amaechi Awkunanaw community in Enugu South Local Government Area, former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, led the flag-off of the APC e-registration for Enugu East Senatorial District.

Nnamani underscored the strategic importance of the exercise, recalling that the APC recorded only 4,776 votes in the state during the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, a stronger party membership base would naturally translate into improved electoral outcomes.

He explained that with a robust membership strength, the party would be better positioned to mobilise voters and significantly increase its vote tally in future elections.

He also stressed the importance of combining party registration with voter card ownership to maximise political participation.

Nnamani praised President Tinubu’s performance under what he described as challenging national circumstances, affirming that this was the basis for the growing support for the President in the Southeast.

He further expressed confidence in Governor Mbah’s political influence, particularly in Nkanu land, noting that closer collaboration between the Enugu State Government and the federal administration should reflect positively at the polls.

“What Governor Mbah has achieved in about two and a half years, many past governors could not achieve in eight years,” Nnamani said, adding that the enthusiasm displayed by residents toward the e-registration exercise exceeded expectations.
