The objective of the agreement is leveraging the close collaboration between the two parties to increase capacity and to provide enhanced landside and barge connections to benefit both customers and shipping lines.

The Chief Executive Officer of the APM Terminals, Keith Svendsen said, while signing the agreement that, “the Nigerian market has shown solid growth throughout 2025 and APM Terminals strongly believes in the development of the market in the years ahead.”

Therefore, “it is important that we take the necessary steps to develop and realise the potential of the terminal, while also looking at the future potential to invest and modernise further in Lagos. Osun LG poll: APC, APM criticise OSIEC boss over alleged relocation of voting materials

…claim untrue, we deployed non-sensitive materials — OSIEC chair

The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) have criticised the chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Hashim Abioye, for allegedly relocating voting materials for the Local Government poll to Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, on Wednesday.

Jamiu Olawumi, an ex-aide to Adegboyega Oyetola, representing the APC, stated, “We have it on good authority that all the voting materials for the illegal council election fixed for February 22, 2025, have been moved to Government House.”

“The action of the OSIEC chairman confirmed that Osun State has shifted from democracy to dictatorship governance. The popular practice is to move the sensitive materials to either the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the Police Station.”

“This also confirmed that Abioye who was former Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke on legal matters was sent to ruin democracy at our councils.”

He held that taking the material to government houses confirmed that the election would be rigged on Saturday, “the material will be thumbprint before Saturday, the election is illegal, we have taken over all the councils.”

Also, APM through its state chairman, Hon Adewale Adebayo said, “Moving sensitive materials to the government house this afternoon has justified our earlier claims that Abioye cannot conduct a free and fair elections.

“This action is an insult to all the residents of Osun State. I want to urge the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to boycott this illegal election, hence they are culpable.”

However, the OSIEC chairman, Abioye denied all the allegations, noting that they only deployed non-sensitive materials to where they were needed before Saturday’s election.

He said: “We did not move any material to Government House. Nothing of such, we only deployed non-sensitive materials to where they are needed.”

Its Managing Director at Apapa terminals, Steen Knudsen disclosed that the terminal succeeded in a 14 per cent reduction in port stay of vessels, giving shipping lines more time in their rotations for lifting more cargoes or saving fuel.

“I am very happy about our results, underlining the big potential we have, to develop our operations in Nigeria even further. We are proud to be a player in supporting the economic growth of this magnificent country and support job and export opportunities. The terminal also succeeded in a 14 per cent reduction in port stay of vessel, giving shipping lines more time in their rotations for lifting more cargo or saving fuel.

Finally, the terminal constructed new yard blocks and Customs’ examination ground. This was initiated to cater for additional export cargo as well as more efficient custom clearance of import cargo.

  • APM’s challenge of Shettima’s nomination a waste of court’s time – Tinubu, Shettima

APM’s challenge of Shettima’s nomination a waste of court’s time – Tinubu, Shettima

President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima have argued that the case by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) challenging Shettima’s nomination to contest the last presidential election was a mere waste of the time of the court.

The APM had, in its petition before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC), claimed that Shettima violated the province of the Electoral Act on the grounds that he allegedly had double nominations as candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Borno Central Senatorial District and as vice presidential candidate.

It prayed the court to among others, void the joint presidential ticket of Tinubu and Shettima, claiming that the Vice President’s allegedly irregular nomination has affected the competence of the joint ticket.

In its judgment on September 6, the PEPC dismissed the petition for being without merit and held among others, that the issue of nomination was not only an internal affair of a party, it was a pre-election issue over which it lacked jurisdiction.

The PEPC also held that APM, not being a member of the APC, the party on whose platform both Tinubu and Shettima contested the election, lacked the locus standi to query Shettima’s nomination.

It further held that the question raised by the APM in its petition, about whether or not Shettima had double nominations, was resolved by the Supreme Court in SC/CV/502/2023 – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) v. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) & 3 others in a judgment delivered on May 26, 2023.

Tinubu and Shettima, in their joint respondents’ brief filed in APM’s appeal before the Supreme Court, urged the apex court to affirm the decision by the PEPC, which relied on the apex court’s September 26 judgment in the case by the PDP against INEC and 3 others.

The joint respondents’ brief was filed by their team of lawyers, led by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN).

They noted that: “Exhibit XI is the judgment of this honourable court earlier referred to in this brief and it emanated from the case in FHC/ABJ/CS/1734/2022.

“The said matter challenged the qualification of the 3rd respondent (Tinubu) to contest the presidential election on account of the claim that his associate (the 4th respondent – Shettima) was invalidly nominated, as according to the plaintiff, the 4th respondent had double nominations in presumed contravention of the provision of section 35 of the

    Electoral Act, 2022.

“The position failed all through to the Supreme Court, where this court made very instructive pronouncements on the subject matter of the complaint.

“Instructively, the petition leading to this appeal before this honourable court (APM’s petition), is only but a rehash of the case as contained in FHC/ABJ/CS/1734/2022, which culminated in the judgment in Exhibit XI.”

Tinubu and Shettima, listed as the 3rd and 4th respondents in the appeal, argued that, as against the appellant’s claim, the Vice President was validly nominated as he lawfully withdrew from his earlier nomination as a senatorial candidate.

“As eloquently expressed in the decision of this honourable court above reproduced, it is extremely immaterial that the withdrawal was communicated to INEC on 15th July 2022, insofar as the said communication occurs not later than 90 days before the election.

“The appellant’s misconception, of course, proceeded from the premise that the withdrawal was incomplete until the same is communicated to INEC.

“Having, therefore, established in consonance with the Electoral Act and the prevailing decision of this court that the appellant is grossly wrong in its hypothesis, it invariably follows that the 4th respondent’s subsequent nomination as a vice-presidential candidate by the 3rd respondent on or about 14th July 2022, does not suffer from any factual or legal impediment or malady, whatsoever.

“Same is in strict adherence with the provision of section 142(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), and we urge the court to so hold.”

Tinubu and Shettima faulted the case presented before the Supreme Court by the appellant, which they noted was a departure from what they argued before the PEPC.

“From the afore-quoted lines of the appellant’s brief, its confusion, with respect, has been brought into the fore, as it mixes pleadings with facts and vice-versa, by wrongly assuming that amorphous pleadings will translate to evidence.

“The entire brief itself is a departure from the appellant’s presentation at the lower court. Yet, the position of our law remains that an appeal is a continuation of trial.”

They added: “At the risk of sounding repetitive, this appeal ought not to have been filed at all.

“Assuming the petition at the lower court was filed out of human error or inadvertence, prudence demanded its immediate withdrawal after sighting the judgment of the Supreme Court which settled the sole issue contained herein, assuming any triable issue is therein contained.

“Further, after the judgment of the lower court, which was very benevolent to the appellant, a higher degree of prudence demanded that this appeal should not have been filed, even under compulsion.

“Applying the language of Okoro, JSC, in PDP v. INEC supra, the appellant has only succeeded in wasting the scarce precious judicial time of this honourable court.

“On the strength of the foregoing, we respectfully urge this honourable court to dismiss the appeal as lacking in merit and substance.

“Additionally, and as earlier demonstrated in this brief, this appeal constitutes a crass abuse of the processes of this honourable court, and we urge the court to also dismiss the appeal on this score.”

In further praying for the court to affirm the decision of the PEPC, Tinubu and Shettima gave a summary of the evidence led by the appellant which informed why the lower court rejected the petition.

“The appellant (as petitioner before the lower court) called a single witness, Aisha Abubakar, who dealt very catastrophic blows to the petitioner’s/appellant’s case, through her evidence.

‘Under cross-examination, this witness admitted that not being a staff of INEC, she was not in a place to know when the notice of substitution was submitted for the Borno Central Senatorial District election.

“This point exposes the witness’ limited or total lack of knowledge of the facts of the case she claimed to be making, and by the decision of this court in Emoga v. State (1997) 9 NWLR (Pt. 519) 25 at 34, it impacted on her overall credibility and further demonstrated why the lower court rightly did not take her depositions seriously.

“In any event, she also confirmed that she is only the Assistant Welfare Officer of the appellant and not a member of the APC, which again, exposes the meddlesomeness in the appellant’s charade before the court.

“Interestingly, she admitted knowledge of the decision of the Supreme Court in SC/CV/501/2023 – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) v. Independent National Electoral Commission & 3 others, delivered on 26th May, 2023, which was tendered through her and admitted as Exhibit XI.

“Not done yet, the witness also read very critical portions of the said Exhibit XI, which made very damaging remarks about the appeal, and by extension, the petition, which for all intents and purposes, is a rehash of the case which led to that appeal.

“Flowing from the foregoing, the lower court had no other option or alternative than to dismiss the very frivolous petition.

“But, in doing so, the lower court still painstakingly and meticulously considered the entire petition, holding that it was lacking in merit and substance, and concluding that it was bound by the decision of this court afore-stated.”

  • Ogun: Tribunal directs INEC to grant Akinlade, APM access to election materials

THE Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, yesterday directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant the candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Adekunle Akinlade and his party, access to the documents used for conduct of March 9 governorship election.

Justice Chinwe Onyeabor-led three-man panel gave the order at its inaugural sitting, following a motion ex parte brought before it by Akinlade and APM.

The governorship candidate and APM are challenging the victory of Prince Dapo Abiodun and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), designated as second and third respondents in the petition.

In arguing the application, counsel for the petitioners, Mamman Osuman, SAN, who appeared with Ahmed Raji, SAN, told the tribunal that the order being sought was necessary to allow the applicants access to the electoral documents used during the election “with a view to maintaining the petition already filed before the tribunal”.

Osuman argued further that the application was filed pursuant to Section 151, sub-section 1 and 2 of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended).

  • Ogun APC, APM and rancorous campaigns

Correspondent Musa Odoshimokhe examines the flexing of muscles between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the recent rancorous rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, and how to prevent violence at the governorship poll.

The last may not have been heard about the disrupted presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State last week.

Ogun State is one of the strongholds of the APC. Apart from being contiguous to Lagos, it has produced leading lights who are prominent stalwarts of the ruling party.

The rally was meant to be an APC affair. But, members of the Allied Progressives Movement (APM) invaded the Moshood Abiola Stadium, venue of the campaign, to disrupt it.

According to observers, what actually played out could be described as a brazen display of arrogance by APM leaders,  who started beating the drum of war, to the constenation of President Muhammadu Buhari nd other APC leaders.

The APM supporters who invaded the rally are supporters of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Ogun Central District. The governor is backing the APM candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, for governor.

The event was slated for 2pm. But, APM chieftains had perfected plans to steal the show, despite their diminishing profile.

On arrival at the stadium, Amosun was stunned to see supporters of his arch-rival and APC governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun, neatly clad in different customised attires, bearing the inscription of”Dapo Abiodun for Governor.”

Abiodun and other APC leaders had successfully mobilised their supporters. They were waving brooms and banners, dancing and rejoicing.

APC chieftans alleged that Amosun directed his aides and security agents to remove Abiodun’s campaign materials from within and outside the stadium.

The  governor was also said to be displeased with the protocol arrangement, which was hijacked by security agents who had accompanied the president.

The security agents from Abuja arrested three hoodlums, who were brandishing dangerous weapons, including axe, short knife and assorted charms, during the screening at the gate.

Soldiers, policemen, men of the Department of State Service (DSD) and the  Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) tried to restore order.

An aggrieved Amosun complained that hi supporters were prevented from entering the stadium. Chiding security men, he said: “Don’t create confusions in Ogun State. I am talking to you, the security operatives, especially the DSS and Police operatives from Abuja. Please, stop using teargas on our people. Please, don’t do it again.

“President Muhammadu Buhari is safe here in Ogun State. He is our father. To all of you here, we are going to open the gates to allow our people to come on. We don’t want stampede. So, security operates, I am putting you on notice. Please, help us to help you. I am begging you to stop it. Our people are suffering outside there.”

Following the directive that security men should allow his supporters to ender the stadium, APM supporters invaded the main bowl.

After entering the stadium, hell was let loose. APM supporters supporters started  chasing out Abiodun’s supporters with sticks.  Many of them sustained injuries .  Although APC leaders complained to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police , Alhaji Ahmed Iliyasu, his deputies, it was difficult to restore order.

No sooner had the street urchins received the APM governorship candidate’s flag than they begun to harrass Abiodun’s supporters.

The main bowl became an APM rally, with the opposition members preventing APC supporters from welcoming President Buhari, APC National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and other leaders.

Also, the musicians on stage started singing inciting songs to mock Abiodun and his supporters.

The master of ceremony was Mrs Abike Dabiri. The opening prayers were said by  an APM chieftain,  Chief Sarafa Isola, former Minister for Mines, and Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, a supporter of the governor. Although the APC chairman, Chief Yemi Sunmonu, was at the rally, the suspended chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, delivered the goodwill message.

Adebiyi declined to recognise the presence of Abiodun, Oshiomhole, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Aremo   Olusegun Osoba, and Chief Kemi Nelson. But, he recognised Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), Asiwaju Tinubu, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, Chief Akande,  Governors  Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Dr Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), and Senator Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo State).

Amosun did not campaign for Abiodun. He urged the people to vote for President Buhari. He said: “We are going to vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the interest of our love for him and our respect for him. Looters are out again to loot our treasury. They are liars. We are going to fight and defeat them with our PVCs.

“This is the home of President Muhammadu Buhari. But, other elections will be resolved when it is time.”

However, Aregbesola cautioned the APM members and urged APC members to be wary of hypocrites.

He said: “We are here for peace. Those carrying posters and banners of another party other than the APC are hypocrites.

“On saturday, March 2, which is a date for both the governorship and State House of Assembly, let us vote for the broom, which is the symbol of the APC.”

But, the admonition did not go down well with the Ogun governor.  He frowned at Aregbesola’s interference in Ogun’s affairs.

There was commotion when Oshiomhole wanted too address thedivided crowd and present the APC flag to Abiodun. As he took the the microphone, it was switched off from the “mixer machine”and he couldn’t talk. A section of the crowd started chanting  “Ole” (thief). Oshiomhole skipped his speech and handed the flag to Abiodun. It was at that stage that one of the APM members hurled an empty plastic at the podium, where the ppresident and other party leaders were standing.

While calming frayed nerves, Amosun urged APM supporters to desisit from doing anything that will embarrass the president.

He said in Yoruba: “We have told them that they (APC chieftains in Ogun) are not up to five percent.

Ti a ba nberu aja, alaja ro wipe oun l’anberu” (if we are afraid of a dog it doesn’t mean we are afraid of its owner).Let us swallow our pride Why disgracing me here? Please, don’t disgrace us here.”

Also, the Director-General (DG), Buhari/Osinbajo Presidential Campaign Organisation,  Amaechi, said the APC leders were in Abeokuta to campaign for the re-election of President Buhari and the election of Abiodun as the next governor of Ogun State.

He said: “We are all here completely for the APC elections. The event of today is completely for all our candidates from the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and to the House of Assembly.

“It is important to vote for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and the election of Abiodun as governor. Let us not make any mistake. Otherwise, we (APC) will lose it.”

  • APC raises alarm over Amosun move to outsmarts Abiodun during Buhari’s visit

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state is alleged to have perfected a game of subterfuge and intrigues ahead of tomorrow’s All Progressives Congress(APC) presidential rally, not only to conceal his steady support for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to President Muhammadu Buhari, but also to take the shine off Prince Adedapo Abiodun, the APC governorship candidate in the state during the rally.

Buses, hitherto, branded with APM emblem, logo and images of governorship candidate and Deputy, and being used for campaign tours since, were hurriedly brought into the Presidential lodge, GRA, Abeokuta, for rebranding to conform with the APC looks, it was learnt, ostensibly to ferry members of APM from across the the state  to the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, venue of the planned presidential rally on Monday.
It was also learnt that Amosun had perfected arrangement to pass members of APM off as that of APC and its supporters by dressing in the same attires the governorship candidate of the party, Abiodun and his supporters, had planned to adorn for the rally.
The essence, it was alleged, is to enable APM members have unfettered and undetected access to the stadium, where they would be expected to do the biddings of the Governor who, it was alleged further, is bent on clandestinely undermine the chances of Abiodun to pave way for his preferred candidate, Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, of the APM to emerge victorious come March 2.
And in the last one week, campaign materials of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) – its various billboards, flexes and signposts bearing the pictures of the governorship candidate Akinladeand running mate were taken down and removed to pave way for replacement with those of APC, President Muhammadu Buhari and Amosun or the President and Vice, Yemi Osinbajo.
The development is evidential along the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway and some places in Oke – Ilewo area of the state capital where APM billboards, lampposts and other campaign materials hoisted along the way had disappeared and been replaced with that of APC.
It is being said that Amosun might have given instruction for the removal of the APM billboards and campaign materials, especially in routes likely to be passed by the President and his entourage, as an indication that he is withdrawing support for Akinlade and APM on alleged order of the President but sources close to the APM camp said it was a smokescreen.
The source added that Amosun is solidly behind Akinlade and APM.
The governor has consistently  vowed never to support any governorship candidate other than the APM flag bearer, his preferred  gubernatorial candidate, Akinlade, who lost the APC ticket to Prince Dapo Abiodun in separate primaries.
The Nation, however, gathered that the Ogun APC, its supporters and candidates for the elections were also ready and determined to scuttle any alleged anti – APC, Anti – Abiodun moves of the Governor and his collaborators.
Already, the has raised an alarm, alleging  that Governor Amosun was sponsoring APM members to cause violence in Ogun during and after the presidential rally.
In a statement on Sunday by Tunde Oladunjoye, the Publicity Secretary, Ogun APC Caretaker Committee, he stated that the planned violence  is meant  to embarrass the President and attack APC members at the rally.
Oladunjoye stated further that the plot  have actually been on in the last one month, and is only being perfected with the planned rally, stressing that the Governor is mobilizing people who had received instruction  to boo the President when he hands over the party  flag to the APC governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
He stated: “It has become necessary to alert the general public, especially the security agencies, that the members of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), being sponsored by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, are planning to disrupt and cause mayhem and bloodshed at the Presidential Rally slated for the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta, tomorrow, Monday.
“Intelligence reports at our disposal reveal that leaders of the surrogate party have been circulating messages to their members to attend the APC Presidential Rally in specific uniforms and campaign materials, in such a way that they will be identified and saved from attacks that will be unleashed on APC members as soon as the flag is presented to the APC candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
“The plan to embarrass the President and attack our members at the rally  have actually been on for about a month, and it is only being perfected now. Governor Amosun is mobilizing people who have been instructed to boo the President when he hands over the flag to the APC governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
“To prepare grounds for this machination, some hoodlums were empowered to paint some of the  signages of APM with black paints with the evil intention of ascribing the act to APC members. This was the same thing Amosun did in 2003 and heaped the blame on Aremo Olusegun Osoba.
“Violent uproars will also be sponsored in some local government councils and development areas with a plan to suspend their Chairmen who have been tagged as loyalists of Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Nine of these Chairmen have been removed from the Whatsapp  group of the Ogun State Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), while some of them already had their salaries and allowances put on hold. In fact, their suspension have been held back because of the visit of Mr. President.

  • Akinlade accuses Amosun of leaving Ogun hopeless for next administration

Governor Ibikunle Amosun preferred governorship candidate, Hon. Abdulkabir Akinlade on Friday couldn’t help indicting his godfather of being unable to uplift residents of Ogun state significantly.

The governor, he said, was leaving the state hopeless for the next administration.

He lamented all he saw during his campaign tour of 211wards out of the 236 wards in the state was “hopelessness of people.”

Akinlade, who is the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) gubernatorial candidate, a party largely enjoying steady support from Amosun at the expense of the the All Progressives Congress (APC), described the people’s situation as that of “hopelessness.”

The House of Representatives member representing Yewa South and Ipokia Federal Constituency made the comment while fielding questions at the just- concluded BBC Yoruba gubernatorial debate at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library(OOPL), Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The APM candidate, who was aide to Amosun on Revenue matters during his first term in office, made the comment in Yoruba to the consternation of the audience at the debate considering his affinity with Amosun and his administration in the last seven years and eight months.

“I have covered 211 wards in Ogun state and have seen the hopelessness of people,” Akinlade said.

Another gubernatorial candidate at the debate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka of the African Democratic Congress(ADC) lauded Akinlade for speaking the truth.

Isiaka noted that on his part, he has covered the whole 236 wards about four times since 2011 and was conversant with the hopelessness of the people in the state.

This, he said, formed his quest for the governorship seat come March 2 to enable him change the narrative of the people’s situation.
