  • Kumuyi urges clerics, nation to build solid foundation

General Superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry Pastor William Kumuyi has stressed the needs to build a solid foundation by ministers of God and the nation at large.

He spoke on Wednesday at the first edition of the Minsters Development Networking summit organised by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) in conjunction with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Lagos.

It held at Deeper Life Bible Church headquarters in Gbagada Lagos Sate.

Kumuyi said a solid foundation is needed in every institution, be it government, private or the church.

“Your future is guaranteed when you build your life on a solid foundation. Build your life and ministry; build your faith to build your work with God, the fullness is in the word of God, take the shield of faith to quench fiery dart of the devil against your life,” he stated.

He noted that success in ministry is determined by the foundation we build.

“There must be a foundation for your Christian life and for your ministry, else it will be destroyed.

“You need a strong foundation; you should not operate a diminishing, deceptive or displaced foundation because it will not safe your building, it will rather make the building collapse. You have to put your foundation on spiritual check to know if it is still standing.

“There is a restoration for a foundation, be steadfast, be focused on what God has called you to do and on your life. Be strong in faith, faith comes by hearing the word of God.

“Limited hearing will yield limited faith, increased hearing will yield increase in faith, undiluted heating will bring undiluted faith and if you are full of hearing, you will be full in faith,” he said.

CAN Chairman Lagos, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, said the foundation of Nigeria is rotten, noting that there is the need to have a new beginning.

“This nation has a rotten foundation; a foundation of corruption. Foundation is so important and it is because the foundation of this nation is rotten that we have all kinds of politicians.”

Nigeria will be great again – CAN

The Chairman, Lagos State Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, on Sunday said Nigeria would be great again, urging the people not to relent in their prayers.

Bamgbola spoke at the closing ceremony of the annual Greater Grace Conference of the Olivet Bible Church with the theme `Boundless’, at its headquarters in Festac Town, Lagos.

He said that the current challenges Nigeria was facing would soon be over because God is interested in the country.

“God will restore the lost glory and virtues of the country. This nation shall rise again; not too long, but very soon.

“We must pray more, and we will have victory; it shall be recorded in the comity of nations that Nigeria has risen,’’ he said.

The Senior Pastor of the Church, Pastor Owen Nlekwuwa, spoke in similar vein, saying the glory and dignity of Nigeria would soon be restored.

“The dignity and honour that God has created this nation for will soon rise again and all its challenges shall be surmounted.

“But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He that gives you the power to get wealth.

“God is concerned about the well-being of the people of this nation; it is His will that we enjoy supernatural abundance,” he said.

The cleric urged Nigerians to always pray for their leaders, with a view to building a great nation devoid of corruption and lawlessness.

“No one has the sole capacity and ability to solve all the problems of this country; it is our collective and civic responsibility to work for the growth of our nation,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the five-day conference began on May 10.

It was organised to inspire people to go for their best dreams, regardless of resistance and circumstances in challenging times.
  • Lagos CAN seeks support for anti-corruption war

Lagos State Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Apostle Alexander Bamgbola has appealed to Christians to support the government in its fight against corruption.

He spoke last week with reporters ahead of a three-day prayer and fasting scheduled by the body for May 10-12 at the Christ Chapel, Alausa, Lagos.

Bamgbola said the nation will only advance when Nigerians join hands with the current administration to expose and destroy corruption.

According to him: “It should be clear to all Nigerians now after fifty years, that if we do not destroy this demon, it will destroy Nigeria.”

Bamgbola said Nigerians can be involved in efforts to rid the society of corruption by taking deliberate and personal decision to steer clear of all appearances of the evils of corruption.

He said the fasting and prayer session is organised to tackle the spiritual roots of corruption in the nation, calling on Christians to converge on Chapel of Christ The Light on May 12 for rigorous prayers.

He also called on the federal government to resuscitate the Nigeria Inter-Religion Council (NIREC) established by the Constitution to solidify interpersonal relationships among Christians and Muslims.

“We must never forget that Nigeria is a truly religious nation in all our efforts in building it as a project. The absolute majority is composed of Christians and Muslims who have lived together in peace and harmony for over a century.

“Hence it should clear, that no ruler or political leader can successfully rule a nation like Nigeria without regular and continuous consultation with the religious leaders of the Land,” he pointed out

  • Bamgbola launches new ministry at 70

Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Lagos state chapter, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, last Sunday joined the club of octogenarians.

To mark the milestone, the former Bank chief launched the Global Youth for Christ Movement, his pet project.

Bamgbola said he received the mandate for the ministry from God after completing a leadership training in America in 2003.

God, he claimed, however told him then to wait till a ripe time to launch the initiative.

He said the inter-denominational group is aimed at equipping youths for Christ and fire them to evangelise Africa for Christ.

Bamgbola retired voluntarily in 1993 as founder and chairman of defunct Victory Merchant Bank because he “could no longer stomach the corruption in the banking system.”

Citing Abraham who was called to leave his father’s house at 100, and Moses who became the leader of Israel at 90, Bamgbola said, he, at 70 is “still young”.

He vowed to devote all his human and material resources to promotion of the new project.

Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) Lagos chapter, Bishop Sola Ore, described the celebrator as a consummate leader with an uncommon integrity, honesty, humility and dignity.

His life, according to Ore, is worthy of emulation.
