  • Apostolic Faith concert holds today

    The Apostolic Faith Mission Headquarters for West and Central Africa (WECA) will today hold its Easter Concert in commemoration of the church’s Annual Easter Retreat at WECA headquarters, Anthony Village, off Ikorodu Road, Lagos State.

    The 4-day Easter retreat started from April 18-22 and is taking place at various branches all over Lagos State. The theme of the programme is Calvary the Gateway to Power.

    A statement issued by the Head Public Relation of Apostolic Faith Church, Kayode Adeleye, said that 2019 Easter commemoration is designed in special way with many spiritual activities lined up.

    He said that the retreat is packed full of soul-inspiring music and activities that will be a blessing to all attendees.

    “The concerts will feature Symphony Orchestra, classical and sacred music from the masters. The concert, as usual, is expected to draw the presence of crème-de-la-creame of the society.

    “Easter is a time of sober reflection of the death of Christ on the cross to redeem men from death, so we need to place the required attention to this purpose.

  • Apostolic Faith holds convention 

    The Apostolic Faith Church, West and Central Africa District, has concluded plans to hold its annual camp meeting holding from August 5 to 26 at the Apostolic Faith Camp Ground Faith City, Atan-Agbara Road,  Igbesa, Ogun State.

    The event, tagged A Life Without Blemish, will bring together thousands of Christians  across Africa.

    It will feature Bible teachings, prayers, business and marital seminar, youth services, French service, films shows and musical concerts.

    Speaking at a press conference organsied by the church in Lagos, the District Superintendent of the West and Central Africa of Apostolic Faith Church, Rev Emmanuel Adebayo, said that the camp meeting would signal another season of spiritual refreshing, healing and divine blessing.

    He noted that “the programme underscores the very essence of our faith, doctrinal teachings, core spiritual values and practices. Our goal and that of every member of this church is not only focused on serving God in spirit and in truth, but also on living a life that is pleasing unto Him”.

    He posited that “no amount of social and psychological orientation and indoctrination can transform a sinful heart that is inherently filled with massive debris or huge depth of wickedness and indiscipline. In the same vein, no quantum or morality or good deeds in whatever guise or measure will substitute for righteousness and holiness that flow from God”.

    Adebayo said: “The depth of corruption and indecencies we are experiencing in our nation today points in one direction-the need for holiness and God in every sphere of our socio-political and economic circle”.

  • Apostolic Faith preaches peace

    The District Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith Church for West and Central Africa (WECA), Rev. Bayo Adeniran, has emphasised the needs for Christians to work for global peace.

    Peace, he said, is the essence of the faith, urging Christians to be peacemakers wherever they find themselves.

    He spoke last Sunday at the Easter concert of the church in Lagos with the theme Gains of Calvary.

    Adeniran pointed out Calvary settles the captivity of men as Jesus, the prince of peace has vanquished Lucifer, thereby giving hopes to all mankind.

    “Easter not only celebrates the healing of mankind but it also offers hope. Therefore I charged every Nigerian to live in peace and harmony irrespective of religious and tribal sentiments, because that is what Easter is all about.

    “Jesus Christ brings peace into the world and as we celebrate His resurrection, we must not lose sight of the true essence of his death for our transgressions,” he stressed.

    Adeniran added that the Easter Concert is a platform for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ who brought salvation to mankind, noting music is a universal language that speaks to the minds.

    He said the concert was to remind the people the second coming of Jesus Christ and stress the need for people to live Godly lives.

    Also speaking at the concert, Nigeria’s former Ambassador to Australia, Ayo Olukanmi, said Easter celebration not only reminds Christians of their faith but must also translate to gains for the country because of the peace it preaches and foster.

    “Orchestra Choir of the Apostolic Faith Church has ministered to our hearts with beautiful renditions, bringing peace to our minds and reminding us of the true essence of Easter.

    “We should also go out there and preach similar peace and at the end, Nigeria will benefit and we will all make the country a better place to live in.”

    For about two hours, the orchestra choir treated guests to the best of golden tunes accompanied by soul-lifting sounds from various instruments meant to highlight the essence and reason for the season.

    The orchestra, described as the largest in Africa, played different sophisticated music with instruments like pipe organ, grand piano, saxophones, flutes, harps, trumpets, violins, violas, tubas, cello, double bass, and many others.

    Some of the songs rendered include Jesus Joy of Man’s desiring; Christ Is Risen; He Bought My Soul at Calvary; The Trumpet Shall Sound.

    Others were: At Calvary; Lead Me To Calvary; Burdens Are Lifted At Calvary; Calvary Covers It All; He Set Me Free and Calvary Offers New Hope.

  • Apostolic Faith holds Easter retreat

    The Apostolic Faith is holding an Easter Concert, as part of series of activities to mark its annual Easter Retreat.

    The church Easter Retreat with the theme:  ‘The Victory and Blessings of Calvary’ begins tomorrow through to Easter Monday.

    A statement signed by Kayode Adeleye, the church Information Officer, said the event holding at the Apostolic Faith Camp Ground, Anthony Village, Lagos, will also hold simultaneously in the five zonal headquarters of the church located at Oke-Aro, Agbado, Sango, Ota and Igbesa, all in Ogun State, as well as Abesan-Ipaja and Ikorodu in Lagos State respectively.

    The statement stated further: “The high point of the programme would feature full orchestra on Sunday. Other activities of the retreat will include Bible study sessions, plays, and film show. “There will also be intercessions on behalf of our dear country Nigeria and enjoyment of the blessings which the blood of Jesus brought to mankind.”

    “We are expecting high profile individuals in private and public sectors as well as some foreign diplomats.”

    Youths urged to serve God

    It was an awesome worship experience last weekend at the 2013 Youth Concert of the Apostolic Faith Church.

    The concert tagged “the fruitfulness of the righteous” held at the church’s camp city in Igbesa, Ogun State.

    The orchestra choir made up of youths drawn across the country delighted the audience with the violin.

    The District Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith West and Central Africa, Rev Emmanuel Adeniran, urged the church as well as families to manage youths effectively so they don’t derail or fall into trauma.

    He said trauma can be engaged at the family, religious level and governmental level.

    Emphasising the role of the church in curbing the situation, he urged all stakeholders to brace up to the responsibility of providing youths with spiritual, psychological, educational and economic resources to cope with their challenges.

    According to him: “I want to say that all stakeholders should not leave the responsibility to the government alone. The press, teachers, and the parents have a role to play by creating the right environment around so that we eliminate trauma amongst the youth.”

    He urged youths to make use of their God- given talents in singing and playing of instruments.

  • ‘Sacrifice vital for nation-building’

    Nigerians have been urged to sacrifice and invest their lives to make the country better.

    The District Superintendent of the Apostolic Faith, West and Central Africa, Rev Adebayo Adeniran, made this call last Sunday at the annual Easter concert of the church with the theme “I gave my life for you”.

    He called on leaders to rid themselves of sin and corruption, stating they were called to eradicate suffering from the nation.

    According to him: “A nation rid of corruption is what befits us. Only righteousness exalts a nation and only God can free us.

    “So we must turn to God as a corporate entity and avoid corruption which is a reproach to us and God. Thus, Easter is the most important feast of Christendom.”

    There was a drama presentation of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and orchestra music by the 2000 man choir on classical Beethoven; Geo Bernard; W.A. Mozart; Joe Paterson.

    Present at the concert were former Head of State, Chief Ernest Shonekan and former Governor of Lagos, Brig Gen Mobolaji Johnson (rtd), among others.
