A lot of Nigerians are talented, but they don’t have that platform. If you look at something about Aquila Records, you’ll discover that all the artistes are fresh. They are artistes that I discovered myself and it’s not easy to actually groom an artiste from zero to becoming a superstar. But with all we’ve had in three years, I give thanks to God Almighty who has helped us achieve all we’ve been able to achieve so far.”

  • AQUILA RECORDS UNVEILS NEW ACT, BEEZY

ONE of Nigeria’s foremost record labels, Aquila Records, has unveiled yet another, a Nigerian-Irish singer, Abiodun Usman Azeez, Beezy.

Introducing the artiste last Wednesday, the CEO of the label, Shina Peller said that he caught his attention from an ordinary post on Instagram.

“I particularly admired the way he was able to turn an ordinary freestyle into an extraordinary content. When it comes to signing an artiste for the label, talent is the only thing we look out for. We look for people that actually pay attention to details. Looking at Beezy, I was sure that he was somebody that I should not just put aside,” he said.

Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Beezy moved to Dublin, Ireland at a young age. While residing in Dublin, he studied and achieved a dual degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Management while also entrenching himself in music, and making a name for himself within the Dublin community.

The young artiste moved back to his homeland Nigeria in May 2017, in order to take his career to the next level and build his audience with the people he loves.

In search of musical support, Beezy wrote a freestyle detailing his experiences in the industry. This freestyle caught Peller’s attention. Impressed by the artiste’s effort, he reposted the video on his Instagram handle and asked if he should be signed to the label. Within hours the post received thousands of comments, including comments from Nollywood superstar Toyin Abraham and Fuji icon Pasuma, all asking that Peller signs him.

We’ve been composing, recording and developing his sound all these while and he has put in so much work in the past few months. I would best my last money on this artiste dropping hits back to back,” Peller said.

On why his label decided to pitch their tent with the artiste, Peller said that Airboy is a very talented person who hasn’t let anyone down.
