    Soun installs new Araba of Ogbomosoland, harps on religious harmony

    The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, has installed a new Araba of Ogbomosoland, Dr. Alao Opeyemi Makinde, urging him to prioritize religious harmony, peace, and unity for the development of the town.

    The monarch urged the new chief to make traditional religion appealing to the youth while fostering harmony among different faiths.

    Speaking in his palace during the coronation conducted by the Asiwaju Awo Ile Ogbomoso, Chief Olayiwola Akanmu, the monarch called on the new Araba to do everything to make their religion attractive to people, especially the younger generation.

    He said: “Seek peace with other religions. You don’t need to fight or abuse people who don’t share your religious ideology. Also, don’t misuse your office.”

    In his remark, the Araba of Ibadan, Ifagbola Olalere, praised the Soun’s efforts in promoting culture and tradition and assured the new Araba of his support in performing his duties.

    Also, Dr. Oladejo Akanni, emphasized the importance of using the position to foster unity and respect, urging the new Araba to view his role as a privilege and avoid oppressing others.

    Earlier in the day, scores of Muslim faithful gathered at the palace for a special prayer session marking the first coronation anniversary of Oba Olaoye.
