Archbishop Bassey hails Gov Otu for restoration of Cross River

The Archbishop of Calabar and President of the Cross River State Christian Leaders Forum, Archbishop Josef Bassey, has described Governor Bassey Otu’s administration as “a divine project of restoration, quietly rewriting the story of a battered state.”

In a statement on Monday, Bassey noted that Cross River State, once known for its excellence and beauty, had experienced years of desolation and moral decline.

However, he declared that the tide has turned dramatically under Governor Otu’s administration.

“Two years ago, Cross River stood at the edge of despair. But today, under a leader who walks with God and works with vision, we are witnessing recovery, renewal, and a clear return to our prophetic path,” he said.

Highlighting key achievements, the Archbishop commended Governor Otu’s silent but profound transformation of the state’s infrastructure, agricultural revival, educational reforms, security improvement,  and healthcare development.

He praised the administration for carrying out critical road projects, attracting agricultural investment, and declaring free tuition in all public primary and secondary schools.

The Governor’s commitment to moral and spiritual revival also received glowing acknowledgment. Archbishop Bassey said Governor Otu’s decision to rededicate the state to God and embrace its prophetic destiny is “one of the most important things any leader can do for a generation.”

“He is not just rebuilding structures; he is restoring the soul of the state. Cross River is once again on God’s altar,” the Archbishop affirmed.

Referring to the Governor as a “noiseless, compassionate achiever,” the cleric noted that while many expected loud announcements, Governor Otu chose deliberate action, delivering results without fanfare.

“He met a state in ruins and has, through divine guidance and personal discipline, realigned it with purpose. His leadership is a miracle in motion,” he added.

Looking ahead, Archbishop Bassey assured the governor of the continued prayers and intercessions of the Church while offering a fatherly charge for the journey ahead. He advised Governor Otu to approach the second half of his tenure with even greater urgency and unwavering focus on delivering legacy-defining results.

    > “This is not the time to slow down or be distracted by the politics of the next election cycle. Rather, it is the moment for a bold halftime re-evaluation—a time to take stock, refocus, and, if necessary, cleanse the ranks of non-performing team members,” he counseled.

He encouraged the Governor to deepen his commitment to excellence, embrace visionary innovation, and pursue landmark developmental strides that will not only transform Cross River State but place her as a reference point in the comity of Nigerian states.

“The foundation has been laid. Now, the next two years must be marked by strategic boldness and landmark achievements. The glory days we prophesy are not in the distance—they are here, waiting to be birthed,” the Archbishop stated.

Archbishop Bassey called on all Cross Riverians to unite in prayer and support for the governor as he continues to steer the state into her “greater glory days.”

The statement concluded with a spiritual charge: “We rejoice today, not only because roads are being built and farms are producing, but because righteousness is being restored in our land. Truly, this is the Lord’s doing.”

Governor Otu’s second anniversary celebration is expected to highlight both achievements and his vision for the future, with stakeholders across sectors commending his calm yet impactful style of governance.

President of the Cross River State Christian Leaders Forum, Archbishop Josef Bassey, has launched a nationwide spiritual uprising tagged the Fire Revolution Campaign.

He is mobilising over 100,000 believers across Nigeria in a synchronised warfare prayer operation.

The most recent fire night with the theme: “Breaking the chains of bloodline evil patterns,” witnessed explosive prayer gatherings across all the six geographical regions  of Nigeria and diaspora hubs.

Testimonies of deliverance, healing, and breakthroughs are already pouring in as ancestral yokes and generational limitations are being shattered by fire.

“This is not just a campaign; it’s a prophetic invasion,” Archbishop Bassey declared.

“The time has come to dismantle demonic altars and redeem the prophetic destiny of our families, regions, and nation. Nigeria is rising on the wings of fire.”

The Fire Revolution, which is gaining global attention, is being hailed as a spiritual reawakening and a clarion call to believers nationwide.

On Friday, A territorial strike for Nigeria’s prophetic destiny will be launched, as the  campaign intensifies with a focused theme: “Breaking Territorial Curses and Reclaiming Nigeria’s Destiny.”

From local assemblies to national platforms, believers will converge to:

Uproot satanic strongholds over cities and regions.

Silence ancient voices of bondage afflicting the land.

Declare revival, healing, and reformation over Nigeria.

Enforce prophetic decrees over leadership, economy, and youth awakening.

Bassey urged believers, intercessors, and kingdom leaders are urged to participate, host fire altars and join the prophetic company reclaiming the nation.

Return to the faith of old, Archbishop Bassey charges Christians

The Archbishop of Calabar and Spiritual Leader of God’s Heritage Global Mission, Archbishop Josef Bassey, has called on the body of Christ and church leaders to return to “the old paths where the saints of old walked.”

Describing much of modern Christianity as a departure from the original faith handed down by the Apostles, the Archbishop decried what he termed “a gospel of leisure, pleasure, and comfort”, which he argued are foreign to the spirit, values, and doctrines of true Christianity.

“The Christianity that costs nothing will ultimately produce nothing. We have traded the fellowship of His sufferings for the comforts of convenience. But Jesus said, ‘If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me,’” Archbishop Bassey stated at the weekend.

Citing Philippians 3:10, where Apostle Paul yearns for “the fellowship of His suffering,” and Luke 14:28, where Jesus warns disciples to “count the cost” before following, the Archbishop insisted that the faith was birthed in fire, forged in persecution, and advanced by sacrifice—not by indulgence.

“This generation must remember that we are not called to blend into the culture but to confront it. We are not entertainers; we are envoys. Until the Church reclaims her ancient foundations of prayer, consecration, holiness, and sacrificial living, she cannot expect to transform a nation lost in darkness,” he added.

Bassey emphasised that once the Church rediscovers her identity, she will again shine as the “city set on a hill” and the moral conscience of the nation. He urged pastors and spiritual leaders to lead the return—to tear down altars of compromise and rebuild the platform of truth.

“A revived Church is the only hope for a dying world. We must return—not to legalism, but to authenticity. Not to rituals, but to righteousness. Then, and only then, will the Church again become the nation’s compass,” he stated.
