  • ‘Aregbesola’s achievements in eight years outstanding’

    The Osun State Commissioner of Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives, Ismaila Adekunle Jayeoba-Alagbada, yesterday said the Rauf Aregbesola administration disbursed N4.5 billion to 27,352 beneficiaries under the combined scheme sponsored by the state government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), tagged: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund (CBN-MSME Development Fund).

    He said the state government, through its microcredit agency, undertook another ground-breaking step towards tackling MSME financing.

    The commissioner said the agency implemented a digital transformation project for improving efficiency, raising standards of people-centred service delivery, adopting global risk management and improving operational transparency.

    He said the state government focused on SME in order to keep the vital segment of the economy active to grow into a formal sector.

    Jayeoba-Alagbada said the government established Osun Micro-Credit Agency and structured it to effectively and efficiently render micro credit delivery services to small scale business operators.

    The sectors covered in the disbursement of micro-credit include commerce, agriculture, manufacturing, education, health, hotel and hospitality as well as other businesses operated by the artisans, the commissioner said.

    He added that the beneficiaries of the soft loans are spread across all the local government areas of the state.

    According to him, the Aregbesola administration provided the initial N100 million disbursable fund while the CBN added N2 billion.

    From statistics indicating beneficiaries and the sums allocated, commerce and agriculture took the lion share.

    Commerce has 12,531 beneficiaries with N2 billion disbursed, while Agriculture disbursed N1.58 billion to 9,796 beneficiaries.

    Other sectors include Manufacturing, which shared N472 million to 2,661 beneficiaries; 1,886 artisans also got N472 million; the Education sector got N53.57 million for 248 beneficiaries; Health got N59.72 million for 223 beneficiaries, while Hotel and Hospitality got N7.29 million for seven beneficiaries.

    Jayeoba-Alagbada listed some programmes focused with the intervention fund to include: Quick Impact Intervention Programme (QIIP) in agriculture; Cocoyam Off-taker Empowerment; Textile Dealers Empowerment, Transporter Empowerment and Cooperative Sector Restructuring and Growth.

    According to him, through effective and efficient credit administration and management, the initial fund released to the agency by the government and CBN had been revolved severally and had now grown to N4.5 billion.

    Scoring the Aregbesola’s administration high across sectors, the commissioner rated the administration as the best in the history of the state.

    He added that it recorded monumental achievements in commerce, industries, cooperatives and the promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

     

     

     

     

     

  • Oyetola to consolidate on Aregbesola’s achievements

    •APC candidate meets with Osun group

    The Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the September 22 election, Mr. Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, at the weekend met with members of a leading socio-political group in the state, the Osun Positive Force (OPF.)

    He assured them of running an all-inclusive government, if elected into office.

    Addressing the group at the Government House Annex at Okefia in Osogbo, the state capital, the APC candidate said he would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

    Oyetola, who is also the Chief of Staff to the Governor, expressed gratitude to members of the  OPF and the APC during the party’s recent primary.

    Assuring not to disappoint them, the APC candidate said he is in the best position to continue and sustain the giant strides of the current administration in the state.

    He said he carefully picked the name, Ileri-Oluwa (God’s Own Project) as his campaign slogan to reflect the “Supremacy of God”.

    Oyetola called for the people’s support in the forthcoming poll.

    The APC candidate, who hailed Aregbesola for transforming the state in the last eight years, said he was fulfilled working with the governor.

    He described Aregbesola as a great man and a most resourceful, consummate and creative governor in the history of Osun State.

    He said: “I seek your hand in partnership as the flag bearer of our party. I want to build on the giant strides already made by the current administration of Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola. Having been a privileged member of the team that has brought the current transformation to our state in the last seven and a half years, I know what the issues are. I know what our people need is an agenda of continuity and revitalisation that will deepen the current gains in infrastructural development.”

    He urged those who had not collected their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs), including OPF members, to collect them and educate others around them to do so.

    The founder of the group, who also doubles as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, praised God for giving Oyetola to the party.

    He said: “We are happy because God answered our prayers. The last time we met here, less than two weeks ago, all of us collectively resolved to support Alhaji Oyetola as the flag bearer of our great party, the APC.

    “By His grace, God assisted us to perform excellently well to the extent that the margin between our aspirant and other aspirants is so wide than the distance between East and West. We give thanks to God.

    “We also give thanks to God for the success of our party’s direct primary. All logistics problem was surmounted without any security incident in the 332 wards. This is also commendable for our party and for members and leaders of OPF.

    “We also thank God that of all the aspirants, majority of them, have come back to accept the verdict of the party. They have pledged their support for the party. All those aspirants: we thank them and we pray that God will be with them as they continue to support the effort of the party.”

    He urged members of the OPF to canvass for Oyetola to make him and the APC win the September 22 governorship election.

  • ‘I will build on Aregbesola’s achievements’

    Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant Chief Bola Olaniyi has promised to consolidate on the legacies of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, if elected as his successor.

    Olaniyi urged the people to vote for the APC to ensure that the on-going projects are completed.

    He said the state needed a dynamic leader capable of delivering on the mandate, noting that Aregbesola has taken governance to a greater height in Osun.

    The aspirant explained that his desire to serve Osun was a long time ambition, assuring that he would be committed to infrastructure development.

    He said: “My ambition right from time is to serve the people of Osun in governorship position. The state has passed through leaders who were self serving, but I believe that people like me could improve on what Aregbesola is doing.

    “Osun mostly consists of farmers who need someone who will provide the enabling environment for them to grow the economy, particularly at a time resources from the federal government are dwindling.

    An  Islamic organisation in Nigeria, Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen, has lauded Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his achievements in the last six years.
    Speaking at the group’s yearly conference in Iwo, the Founder and National President, of the organization, Sheik Daood Molasan, said that the Aregbesola administration has demonstrated good faith with the people and added meaning to governance.
    The islamic cleric, who described education as a veritable tool to success, commended the state government under the leadership of Governor Aregbesola for being determined to develop education.
    He said the state has done a lot in giving a new face to education sector, saying this “has really helped to development basic and high education.”
    “We are not politicians but we appreciate all what Governor Aregbesola has been doing to liberate our state and develop our economy. Osun government has done so much in education and other sectors as its impacts in all these can never be left unrecognised.”
    He, therefore, called on muslims who are financially endowed to spend their wealth for the propagation of Islam, saying “man is created by God majorly to serve Him with all his endowments.”
    Sheik Molasan said the purpose of the conference is to guide muslims to the path of righteousness, warn them against forbidden acts as being commanded by Allah and His Messengers.
    Governor Aregbesola who was represented at the event by the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Salam, described knowledge as a quintessential mechanism to survival.
    He said: “it is high time for everyone to seek and pay whatever price to enhance the acquisition of western knowledge.”
    The Governor who titled his speech, “Towards an Inclusive Good Youruba and Good Muslim,” enjoined religious leaders on the need to dwell more on scientific knowledge, which according to him has redefined the world.
    According to him, it is only those with sophisticated religious and western knowledge combined would seamlessly scape through the worldly emerging circumstances. END
