    Hosts Nigeria dominate Armwrestling Championships in  Abuja

    History was made over the weekend at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja as Nigeria emerged overall champion of the 14th  African Armwrestling Championship and 7th  Para Armwrestling Championship.

     The event marked a significant celebration of strength, unity, and athletic excellence across the continent.

    Team Nigeria topped the medal table with a commanding performance—securing 28 gold, 35 silver, and 38 bronze medals. Benin Republic followed closely with 23 gold, 30 silver, and 11 bronze, while Ghana finished third with 21 gold, 20 silver, and 9 bronze.

    With participation from over 20 African nations, this edition was one of the most competitive and widely attended armwrestling tournaments in the continent’s history. For the first time, the Para Armwrestling Championship ran concurrently, drawing large crowds and expanding the reach of the sport.
