    Arthur Eze expands business

Prince Arthur Eze, a billionaire oil magnate, has demonstrated his deep expertise in the oil and gas value chain, proving himself to be a strategic and shrewd business leader. For aspiring students pursuing a PhD in oil and gas-related fields, a conversation with Prince Eze could be pivotal, as his wealth of experience and insights into the industry go far beyond traditional academic frameworks. His pragmatic and direct approach to business has enabled him to thrive and remain resilient in the competitive market since he began his journey in 1991.

In a significant move to diversify and expand his business interests throughout Africa, Eze’s company, Atlas Oranto Petroleum Limited, has successfully secured four offshore exploration blocks in Liberia. This strategic acquisition represents a crucial opportunity to rejuvenate the West African nation’s oil and gas sector, which has seen limited activity in recent years. The agreement comes at a time when major global energy corporations are showing renewed interest in Liberia’s offshore resources, following TotalEnergies’ acquisition of four offshore blocks earlier this year and ExxonMobil’s successful re-entry into the country in 2023.

Sources close to Liberia’s President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, have confirmed that the production sharing contracts (PSCs) between the Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority and Atlas Oranto are fully valid and binding. The agreements encompass blocks LB-15, LB-16, LB-22, and LB-24.

A source further stated that, “The contracts were signed in Paris and include a $12 million signature bonus, with an expectation of $200 million in planned investments per block.” This infusion of capital and expertise could be instrumental in revitalizing  Liberia’s energy sector, which has been stagnant for over a decade.

Currently, Arthur Eze operates in an impressive 22 countries, including Equatorial Guinea, Senegal, South Sudan, São Tomé and Príncipe, Uganda, and Zambia. In a landmark development in August 2024, Eze made his debut in the South American oil market by signing a prospecting agreement in Venezuela. This was achieved in collaboration with Oil Minister Pedro Tellechea and in the presence of President Nicolás Maduro, marking Atlas Oranto’s strategic entry into the Americas and further underscoring Eze’s ambitions on a global scale.

Enugu APC faults Arthur Eze over claims on Tinubu’s endorsement of Mbah

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has described as misleading and completely baseless the recent statement by Anambra-born businessman Prince Arthur Eze that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed Governor Peter Mbah for a second term in office.

Eze, during the second anniversary of Governor Mbah in Enugu on May 29, said that President Tinubu was happy with the Governor’s performances in Enugu and endorsed him for a second term.

But, in a strong rebuttal at the weekend by the publicity secretary of the party in Enugu State, Mr Titus Ezeagu, the APC dismissed Eze’s claims as “personal opinion driven by self interest rather than political reality.

“Prince Arthur Eze is not a member of the APC. He is neither a spokesperson for President Tinubu nor has he ever played any official role in the President’s campaign or administration,” the statement reads.

The party reiterated that Arthur Eze has no mandate whatsoever to speak on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that Arthur Eze is not a member of the APC.

“Let it be made clear: the president has not made any statement; public or private, endorsing any governor

in any state for a second term, including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State,” it continued.

The APC further advised individuals like Arthur Eze to desist from making pronouncements that could undermine the democratic and electoral process in Enugu State and the country in general.

“We urge Prince Eze to concentrate on his business ventures and allow the democratic process to unfold in accordance with the constitution without resort to spreading cheap propaganda which will put Mr President in bad light nationally and internationally.

“His attempt to prop up Governor Mbah’s anti-people governance using the name of President Tinubu is not only false but a manifest move to once more undermine the democratic process in Enugu and Nigeria in general,” it said.

The party concluded by reaffirming its commitment to building a strong political alternative for the people of Enugu State, emphasizing that endorsement for any second term would come through the electoral process.

“We at APC Enugu State under the able leadership of the high performing Chief Uche Geoffrey Nwakaibie, the Hon Minister of Innovation Science and Technology and leader APC Enugu state shall continue to stand firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope Agenda, and we remain focused in giving Enugu State voters a credible alternative to the current PDP-led mal-administration come 2027,” it concluded.

Arthur Eze hosts SEDC board members, articulates vision, goals for regional transformation

Business mogul, Prince Arthur Eze, OFR, has hosted a grand reception to honour the pioneer members of the Board and Management of the South East Development Commission (SEDC).

The event was marked by traditional Igbo rites, deep reflections on the region’s past and a commitment to an ambitious vision for the future.

The event commenced with the presentation of the Igbo traditional kola nut by Eze, followed by prayers from a traditional ruler and a Clergy.

The prayers emphasised that the South East Development Commission will be an instrument of peace, unity and economic transformation for the region.

Eze recounted the resilience of the Igbo people following the Nigerian Civil War.

He emphasised that for decades, the Igbos struggled without national recognition until the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“At the end of the war, Igbos were given only twenty pounds, yet we survived. President Tinubu has ensured that the Igbo people will no longer cry,” he stated.

He called on Igbos to appreciate Tinubu for his remarkable support and vision for the South East. Prince Eze shared personal stories of hardship and loss during the war, affirming that the establishment of SEDC signifies a new dawn for the region.

“President Tinubu has rekindled the Igbo spirit, the spirit of Dr. Michael Okpara. This marks the beginning of a new era. No matter your political party, we must support him to complete his eight-year tenure.”

Dr. Emeka Wogu, Chairman of the SEDC Board, expressed profound gratitude to Eze for organising the event, which he described as a strong show of support for the commission.

He assured that the SEDC will leverage this momentum to drive meaningful development across the South East region.

The MD/CEO of South East Development Commission, (SEDC) Mark Okoye II, emphasised SEDC’s commitment to rapid and impactful development.

He highlighted that just two days after the board’s inauguration, the Executive Management Team submitted the SEDC Roadmap for approval, demonstrating their urgency and dedication to progress.

He stated that the SEDC is poised to turn the South East into a $200 billion economy within ten years by implementing bold and strategic initiatives.

“We are not here to compete; we are here to support and align with the programs of the state governors,” Okoye assured.

The SEDC Board and Executive Management have embarked on extensive consultations with South East governors to align their development plans with the states’ priorities.

Key insights from these engagements include:

Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru stressed the need for community development and prudent utilization of SEDC funds.

On his part, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah urged the commission to build the South East into a commercial hub centered on trade and industry.

Anambra Governor Charles Soludo called for a strong focus on capital projects that will boost infrastructure and economic productivity.

Also, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State advocated for regional power generation and distribution, as well as targeted sectoral interventions.

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, highlighted the need7 for commercially and socially viable interventions, referring to SEDC as a vital interventionist platform.

Prominent South East stakeholders at the meeting shared insightful observations and advice for SEDC.

On leadership, Nigeria’s major problem has been poor leadership selection based on personal relationships rather than competence. However, SEDC’s leadership has been carefully chosen for their expertise and experience.

On governance, SEDC was advised to adhere strictly to rules and procedures to maintain transparency and credibility.

On regional development, a stakeholder reminded the commission that its focus must be on the ordinary people, traders, artisans, students, small business owners, farmers, and industrialists, who dream of a prosperous future.

On Politics and Collaboration: Another stakeholder warned against unnecessary political interference, urging SEDC to focus on collaboration and regional development.

On Economic Vision, The South East should be a regional common market, leveraging its industrial and entrepreneurial strengths.

On Delivery and Impact, The commission was charged to invest, innovate, implement and inspire in order to truly impact the lives of ordinary people.

A stakeholder described SEDC as a “special-purpose vehicle for rapid development.” With the equitable opportunity now available to the Igbo people, they must seize the moment to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Furthermore, it was noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has given the South East a platform through SEDC to “end the era of traveling abroad in search of opportunities and instead build prosperity at home.”

Senators present at the event collectively thanked Tinubu for assenting to the bill establishing the South East Development Commission (SEDC) and ensuring speedy appointment and inaguration of the members of the SEDC Board.

They also expressed gratitude to Prince Arthur Eze for his generosity in hosting the grand reception.

The event underscored a shared commitment to leveraging the South East Development Commission as a catalyst for economic transformation. With a clear roadmap, strong leadership and the backing of key stakeholders, SEDC is well positioned to unlock the vast potential of the region and usher in an era of prosperity.

He also commended President Tinubu for giving the Southeast a sense of belonging with his laudable pronouncements on developmental projects in the region, especially as it concerns establishing the South East Development Commission, a key initiative that he believes will bring meaningful change to the region.

“We have to thank Tinubu for the South East Development Commission. That commission can solve our infrastructural problem. They have more than N100 Billion to create jobs here.

“Tinubu released the money. He doesn’t care. Other administrations neglected us in the past. That commission will change the lives of Ndigbo. Very soon, youths will start getting jobs.

“Tinubu has no enemies. He doesn’t have boundaries. He doesn’t care to know who you are. Only Tinubu can solve our problems in the Southeast. Most of us here are above 60. So if Tinubu cannot solve the problem, then we are dead,” he said.

The Anambra-born businessman further applauded the president for his belief in Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, saying that that recognition meant everything to the Igbo because Mbah is a performing governor.

“He(President Tinubu) believes in Peter Mbah. He recognised our son. Mbah has wisdom. He’s a man of peace. Peter brought innovation in governance of Enugu State. He will give people like late Michael Okpara and Sam Mbakwe a serious competition as to who will be a better performer.

“I’m happy(in Enugu), that’s why I will continue staying here (in Enugu). I don’t want to go back to any other place. I have security, (but) Mbah provided security and stability, changing the face of the entire state, and making urban development real. He’s spending a lot of money (on development). We thank God that God brought him to save us. He’s making us remember the old Eastern Nigeria, when the likes of Okpara, Azikiwe, Awolowo, held sway in governance.

“As for insecurity, that’s why people love your governor (Enugu State governor). The traditional rulers are happy with him and they’re giving him a lot of support. The IGP recently came here to thank the traditional rulers for their support in the fight against insecurity. That’s why I can be here and move around with nobody harassing anybody,” he said.

He urged other governors in the region to emulate Governor Mbah to end the insecurity in the Southeast.

“If other governors can do what Mbah doing, I believe the Southeast will be a region without insecurity problems,” Eze said.
