Popular skit maker and social influencer, Amarachi Amusi aka Ashmusy has said she stopped wearing revealing outfits to fight being seen as a prostititute.

She spoke as a guest on Spill with Phyna podcast

Quoting the phrase ‘You’re addressed the way you dress’, Ashmusy said she had to rebrand herself and stop wearing costumes that revealed her body after being mistaken for a ‘runs girl’.

She said displaying her body in her videos caused people to perceive her as a sort of ‘runs girl’.

According to her: “Before I rebranded a few months ago, I used to wear sexy outfits. As a young girl, one would want to show one’s body. I did not know that I was being perceived as a prostitute.

“Meanwhile, I knew how much I was working behind the camera, running a business, and shooting adverts every day. With all of that, I was able to buy a car and house. It pained me when people insinuated that those things were bought for me by a man.”

Ashmusy said she looked inwards in an attempt to figure out why people regarded her as such, and after watching her videos, she realised it was due to her revealing clothing.

She stated that she felt she was being fun and goofy for her audience, unaware that their minds were elsewhere.

Her words are: “I was later in my quiet zone, thinking about why I was being judged that way, despite all my works that they people were seeing. I then started watching my videos, seeing that most times my body was exposed, with my nipples even showing. I was being goofy, but I did not know that people had been looking at something else. I have realised that if one wants to be seen as a prestigious woman, one has to dress accordingly. One cannot be showing (sensitive) parts of one’s body.”

Women are prize in relationship even in lack, says Ashmusy

Popular media influencer and content creator, Amarachi Amusi, known as Ashmusy, has asserted that women hold the position of prize in relationships, giving them the authority to select their partners.

According to Ashmusy, women have the freedom to choose to date affluent men who possess luxurious cars and homes.

Speaking on an episode of the Spill With Phyna podcast, Ashmusy emphasized that women, being the prize, attract a diverse range of suitors and are entitled to choose the one who best meets their criteria.

She further noted that it is ultimately the decision of women whether to endure or tolerate a financially challenged man if they still desire to marry him out of love.

However, Ashmusy clarified that, personally, given her established status, she has set her standards to select the type of man she desires.

Ashmusy said: “It’s your choice, even if you are small, broke, rich and you want to set a standard that you want to date a man that drives a car or has houses, you have the right to set the standard.

“You are the prize as a woman, so it’s your choice. Being the prize means that they will come for you, you decide who you want. That’s my opinion. If another girl too wants to use love to marry someone that does not have anything at all, it’s still her choice.”

She said: “When I meet a rich man, I don’t look forward to getting money from him or trying to be with him to get money. Not at all. I’m being very honest with you. Because at the end of the day, how much will he give me? Okay, 1 million or 2 million. It will finish instantly.”

It’s unfair my success is linked to a man – Skit maker Ashmusy

Renowned Nigerian skit creator and influencer, Ashmusy, expressed her dismay regarding the tendency to associate a woman’s success with a man.

During a recent interview with Punch Saturday Beats, she highlighted how society hastily links women’s achievements to men, a perspective she finds deeply troubling.

The comedian said: “Linking a woman’s success to men can be annoying and hurtful. That is the reason I want to rebrand myself. It can be hurtful when a young girl works so hard, and all her efforts are linked to a man.

“After I reflected on everything I had been doing so far, from my dressing to my videos, I decided to correct them by changing that narrative. I am still an entertainer and I still have to entertain in some way, but it will be done in a better way.”

“The idea of rebranding myself has been in my head since 2022, but I just wanted to be sure I was ready, and also I wanted to clear all my pending deals. I felt the need to leave that stage for another one.

“Covering up myself (in outfits) is a part of my rebranding. I hated the fact that a man was said to be the source of my success. That narrative was hurtful because I know how hard I work to make every single dime. I will ascribe my success to God, consistency, and hard work.”

Speaking on what about her she’s most proud of, she said: “I have been able to build myself to a certain level in every aspect without having to depend on any man. My family has been supportive too.”

Simi condemns Ashmusy, Nons Miraj over ‘messy’ portrayal of African moms

Singer Simi has voiced her displeasure with skit makers Ashmusy, Nons Miraj, and others for their skewed portrayal of African mothers

The content creators produced a skit in which they visited a restaurant while attired as traditional African mothers.

Dressed in their traditional attire, the skit captured them entering an ‘exotic’ restaurant as friends, displaying some ‘phoney’ mannerisms.

They settled down to eat their meals but did so uncivilly, snapping photos supposedly like African mothers and eventually carting away all the utensils.

Sickened by the video after viewing, Simi, criticised them for depicting African mothers in such a derogatory manner.

She argued that she didn’t know any mother with such a demeanor, tackling them to improve on their content.

Simi tweeted: “That video about African moms where they looked a mess and were eating like dogs made me mad. I don’t know anybody’s mom who acts like that. Y’all get your jokes together.”

Many in the comment section agreed with Simi’s criticisms but some others dismissed it, claiming it was merely a skit.

Men are intimidated by my ‘wealth’, says Ashmusy

Skit maker, Amarachi Amusi aka Ashmusy has said that most men seeking romantic relationships with her get intimidated by ‘wealth’.

She asserted that her higher income compared to ‘these men’, which made them uncomfortable, is among the reasons she remains unmarried.

However, in a podcast conversation hosted by her colleague, Zicsaloma, on “Tell Your Story,” the content creator conveyed her wish to marry a man whose wealth would surpass her own.

She said: “With my status presently, most people [men] I meet, I ask them sometimes like, ‘How much do you earn in a month?’ So that I can compare because I want a man that is bigger than me.

“I want my man to be bigger than me; to be my head. To be way way richer than me like let my money be nothing for him, you know.

“But when I ask them and they tell me, even the ones that are doing good, I’m still doing better based on what I make.

“So in the end, it is still like I’m still on top. Most men I meet are making less than what I make in a month. And it feels bad because I want some that will make more, do you understand?”

Ashmusy also admitted the same applied to many single rich female celebrities and those whose marriages don’t last in response to the host’s question, “Do you think that’s the reason why many ‘rich’ celebrities are not married or don’t last in their marriage?”

“It’s one of the reasons because most men are intimidated by such women and they are scared.

“I mean, me, I’m really still growing. I’m not the biggest I want to be yet but I know how men are scared of coming to me”, replied the brand influencer.
