    AUO’s maiden Founder’s Day lecture holds on Wednesday

    Nigerian scholar, and professor of History, Toyin Falola is billed to deliver the maiden edition of Founder’s Public Lecture Series of Atiba University Oyo (AUO)..

    According to a statement by the institution, Falola, while responding to the institution’s invitation, said he was honoured to be part of the event.

    “When contacted, he(Falola) said he considers it an honour for the privilege the management of Atiba University, Oyo State, Nigeria, extended to him to deliver a lecture to a team of highly cerebral teachers and students,” the statement said.

    Falola will be speaking on ‘Rethinking Tertiary Education in Nigeria through Private Universities for Sustainable Development.’

    According to the organisers, the programme will be held on Wednesday, March 19, in the university.

    The Founder/President of AUO, Dr. James Adesokan Ojebode and the Vice Chancellor of the institution,  Professor Sunday Olawale Okeniyi are hosts.

    The event will be chaired by the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Salihu Adelabu.

    AUO introduces online distance learning

    Atiba University Oyo (AUO) has launched an Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programme to offer students a flexible and accessible way to learn at their own pace and on their schedule.

    During the launch event, titled ‘Atiba University ODL – Online Distance and Blended Learning Platforms,’ the Vice Chancellor of AUO, Professor Sunday Okeniyi, acknowledged the challenges faced by the federal government in providing quality education to its citizens.

    He noted that the AUO ODL programme aims to alleviate these challenges.

    Okeniyi explained that Open and Distance Learning (ODL) has emerged as a viable solution for improving access to quality education.

    He described ODL as an educational delivery method that utilizes technology and various media to reach learners who cannot attend traditional classroom settings.

    He further said that the ODL programme could be delivered through different mediums, including online platforms, mobile devices, and print materials.

    According to the AUO VC, the benefits of the ODL online programme include increased access to education for individuals in remote or hard-to-reach areas, the flexibility to study at convenient times and places, cost savings as learners avoid transportation and accommodation expenses, and quality education designed to meet the same standards as traditional classroom programs.

    Also speaking at the event, the President of AUO, James Adesokan Ojebode (PhD), emphasized the institution’s belief that education is a fundamental right. He stated, “At Atiba University Oyo, we are committed to providing access to quality education for all at the lowest possible cost as a way of giving back to society.”

    He also reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to maintaining quality assurance and accreditation within the programme.
