    Mr. Latin, others mourn veteran actor Ayobami Olabiyi

    The President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Mr. Latin, is mourning the death of veteran actor Mudashiru Olabiyi Ayobami.

    The Nation reported that Olabiyi died on October 16, 2024 after a brief illness in Oyo state.

    In a post on his Instagram page, Mr. Latin described Olabiyi’s death as a tremendous loss to the industry, praising his dedication, leadership, and contributions to their organisation.

    He encouraged the public to support Olabiyi’s family during this difficult time and offer their thoughts and prayers.

    “It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our esteemed National Secretary, Alhaji Mudashiru Olabiyi, who departed from us today, 16th of October, 2024. This is a tremendous loss not only to our association but also to the entire creative community. His dedication, leadership, and contributions have left an indelible mark on our organization, and his absence will be deeply felt.

    “During this difficult time, I encourage all to keep His family in their thoughts and prayers. Let us come together as a community to offer our support and strength to one another. May he rest in perfect peace”, he wrote.

    Several Yoruba stars, including Seyi Edun, Faithia Williams, and Doyin Amid, paid their respects to the late veteran in the comments section.

    Olabiyi’s death adds to the list of Yoruba actors who have passed away this year, including Sisi Quadri and Dayo Adewunmi.

    The film industry has experienced a series of losses in recent months, with the passing of veteran actors Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Zulu Adigwe, and young actors Junior Pope and Jumoke Aderounmu.

    Nollywood Actor Ayobami Olabiyi ‘Bobo B’ dies

    Popular Nollywood actor, Otunba Ayobami Olabiyi (aka Bobo B), is dead.

    He reportedly passed away in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, after a brief illness.

    Olabiyi was a former Governor of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) in Oyo State and its National Secretary until his death.

    The Nation learnt that the thespian, who was supposed to be on a movie set in Oyo last month, could not make it due to his deteriorating health.

    He was admitted at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan where he passed on.

    The governor of TAMPAN in Oyo State, Bose Akinola, announced Olabiyi’s death yesterday.

    Her statement reads: “I have a directive of the Oyo State TAMPAN governor, her Excellency Yeye Bose Akinola to announce the death of our TAMPAN National General Secretary, Chief (Alhaji) Musadshir Ayobami Olabiyi ‘Bobo B’. May God give his family and the entire TAMPAN members globally the fortitude to bear the loss… Amen.”

    The late Olabiyi was a teacher for 16 and retired in 1993 before joining the movie industry.

    He played diverse roles in films and TV series, including Adarugudu (2020), Eewa (2022), Asife (2016), Alakada (2009), Aye Jobele (2004), and Ago Kan Oru (2003).

    In a tribute, another colleague, Abidemi Temitayo, wrote: “I remembered what happened vividly the night I took that second slide with you after shooting… We were both on set of the movie when the director was giving us our lines. Say Y was the director then; he asked us to do CR. I said there was no need for it. The director was like ‘will you’? Bobo B then replied: ‘Bidemi is sure of herself. Kii se omode actor now (he’s not a kid of an actor).’

    “We all laughed and we shot the movie. There was no tape 2 or more. We then took a picture – the three of us and then with the crew before leaving. But today, that same jovial man is no more. Hearing about your death is so shocking.

    “Alhaji Mudashir Ayobami Olabiyi. This is so sad… Rest well, Bobo B. The industry will surely miss you; even the world at large.”
