    Ayra Starr is new Rihanna – David Guetta

    French disc jockey and record producer, David Guetta, has likened Nigeria’s Ayra Starr to the new version of Barbadian-American superstar, Rihanna.

    The Frenchman said Ayra Starr’s music is unique and has the potential to attract a global audience.

    Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, via Skype, Guetta said: “When people speak about Ayra Starr in the industry, a lot of us see her as the new Rihanna. Because she comes with a vibe that is very specific because of where she’s coming from. But she has the potential of crossing over into different cultures.

    “Since we recorded, she has had even more hits. It’s crazy. I’m French. I was in Paris and everyone was talking about her. I was shocked like, ‘This is amazing. An African artist that’s killing it in Europe, killing it in the U.S., it’s not every day. Last time I saw it was working with Akon.’”

    David Guetta recently worked with Ayra Starr and American rapper Lil Durk on his latest song, ‘Big Fu.’

    The “Rush” crooner was nominated for her song in the category of Best African Music Performance and she is up against fellow Nigerian artists Davido, Burna Boy and Olamide.

    The ‘Rhythm & Blues” crooner, who disclosed this via her Instagram story recently, said she was grateful for her progress.

    She said she would often sing for customers who patronise her business.

    A total of 122 songs have been submitted for consideration for nomination in the newly created “Best African Performance” category at the 66th Grammys.

    American music statistics company Chart Data disclosed this Thursday morning.

    “122 songs were submitted for Best African Performance consideration at this year’s #GRAMMYs.

    “2024 will mark the first show the award will be presented,” Chart Data wrote via X.

    I can’t wait for Burna Boy’s album, says Ayra Starr

    Mavin star girl, Ayra Starr, like many others, has expressed her eagerness to experience Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy’s highly anticipated album.

    Burna Boy had announced his seventh studio album, ‘I Told Them…’, would be released on Friday, August 25, 2023.

    The body of work would serve as a follow up for his hit album ‘Love, Damini’ released last year.

    ‘Odogwu’ had also shared the album trailer and a leading single, ‘Big 7,’ in preparation for release.

    Burns Boy explained in a statement: “‘Big 7’ is a melodic tribute to embracing new heights in my musical journey.

    “The title represents a symbolic aspiration to reach greater horizons, with the number seven embodying an attainable and harmonious growth.”

    Along with that, the Afro-fusion giant recently shared the track list for his upcoming project, which would feature 15 songs with some stellar features.

    When asked by the interviewer about the artiste she’d like to collaborate with in the Nigerian music industry, the “Rush” crooner replied: “Errrmm, definitely, probably Burna Boy.”
