    ‘Feed industry will ensure balanced nutrition’

    Feed Industry Practitioners Association of Nigeria (FIPAN) has restated its commitment to expanding and ensuring balanced nutrition.

    This was the focus at the inauguration of elected executives of the association.

    Outgoing President, Raymond Isiadinso, said the body advises government on feed, animal and livestock nutrition.

    He said: “Previously, there wasn’t much awareness about importance of maize in the livestock industry. However, since we came on board, we have raised this, leading to increased interest and knowledge today.

    “The incoming executive will work with government by ensuring interest rates on funds are conducive to agricultural growth as in the West where agricultural funds are not available at commercial interest rates.”

    National President, Dr. Ayoola Oduntan, noted the primary function of feeds in  facilitating meat production.

    Oduntan said: “We plan to work with the government to improve feed access for cattle to boost production of beef and milk, as well as explore the export potential for sheep and goats.

    “FIPAN’s leadership is committed to expanding beyond our focus on poultry feed, to include more support for ruminant and swine sectors…

    “We will collaborate with farmers, feed producers, financial institutions and government to create an environment for growth. We seek to build international partnerships for access to technologies, innovations and best practice to allow us improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance quality of feed produced in Nigeria.
