I resigned my membership from PDP in 2023, not 2024 — OSIEC chair

The Chairman of Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Barrister Hashim Abioye, has denied claims that he resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) five months to the February 22nd 2025 local government poll.

Abioye in a video he made available to The Nation on Wednesday to counter the claim of the Executive Director of Projects Implementation of Federal Housing Authority (FHA) that he resigned in September 2024, explained the legal stance of local government tussle.

According to the OSIEC boss, “I resigned my membership from PDP in 2023, not 2024. On the issue of reinstatement, the Court of Appeal did not reinstate any local government official. It was an election that was conducted under APC administration, using ‘Yes or No’, 60 days notification as against 360 days.

“The way forward is the APP judgment which sacked them on 30th November 2022, they abandoned that appeal and the Court of Appeal dismissed that, there is already pronouncement of Court of Appeal on that decision.”

He berated the All Progressives Congress(APC) for living in denial over the appeal of the All Peoples Party(APP) which sacked them.

The OSIEC boss said, “The way forward is for Attorney-General of the Federation to look at APP judgment and give us an opinion. Please let us press it on Attorney-General of the Federation.”
