Bauchi APC urges FG to provide more economic relief to ease hardship

The Bauchi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the Federal Government to alleviate the current hardship being faced by Nigerians by providing additional palliatives and other economic relief efforts.

This was part of the recommendations of the party after its stakeholders meeting held Saturday.

The communiqué, signed by the State APC Chairman, Muhammad Hassan, stated: “Amidst the current hardship in the country, we urge the Federal Government to intensify efforts to alleviate citizens’ suffering. We also encourage citizens to continue praying for our leaders to fulfill their mandates.”

Also, the APC urged the Federal Government to restart and complete the Bauchi-Gombe Oil Project, which it emphasised, would be beneficial to the entire region.

The party also recommended that all palliatives allocated to Bauchi State be distributed through its elected or appointed representatives from the state.

It resolved to establish disciplinary measures within the party to hold members accountable, ensuring justice, equity, and fairness in upcoming congresses, primaries, and general elections.

The Bauchi APC expressed unanimous support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and for the two ministers representing the state in his administration.

Those who attended the meeting include Senator Shehu Buba (representing Bauchi South); Health and Social Welfare Minister, Prof. Ali Pate; Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar; former Governor Isa Yuguda; and House of Representatives members from the state.

The crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has intensified, with the party’s executives passing a vote-of-no confidence on Chairman Babayo Misau.

The decision, made during an emergency meeting, involved 27 out of 37 executives, who cited Misau’s failure in his role, including losses in the last general election, especially the governorship election.

The APC Legal Adviser, Rabi’u Garba, announced the unanimous vote, invoking Article 17 of the APC 2022 constitution, to appoint Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Tilde as acting chairman.

Addressing journalists at the party secretariat after the emergency meeting, he said “this decision followed the apparent failure of the former chairman to lead the party effectively. We have witnessed a lot of problems and issues bedevilling the party, which we deemed fit to tackle by taking this decision; otherwise, the party will collapse in Bauchi State.

“We know that most Bauchi State people support APC but for the lack of leadership, we have lost some seats. We couldn’t emerge victorious, particularly in the gubernatorial during the last election. It is not as if people did not vote for APC, the majority of Bauchi State people voted for APC but we couldn’t defend or secure our votes due to apparent failure of leadership.”

“We have taken this bold decision and we make it public that Alhaji Babayo Misau is no longer the chairman of APC in Bauchi State and we have immediately resolved and appointed his deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Tide, as the State Chairman in Bauchi State,” he said.

The Nation reports that a Bauchi State High Court 7,  presided over by Justice Lamido Umar, had earlier granted an interim order restraining  Misau from parading himself as Chairman of the party, pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.
