    Tragedy as Bauchi man kills 80-year-old father

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Liman Muhammad Baba, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Malam Baba Siti, during an altercation.

    The tragic incident occurred on Thursday about 10:30pm in Uzum village in Giade Local Government Area of the state.

    Spokesman of the Command, SP Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident in a phone interview with our Correspondent.

    According to Wakil, the police in Giade Division received a distress call from a resident, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Sani Omolori, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Giade to launch a discreet investigation.

    “Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, causing him to collapse and die on the spot,” Wakil said.

    The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Giade, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival.

    It was gathered that during the altercation, Liman allegedly hit his father with a stick, leading to his immediate collapse and loss of consciousness.

    Wakil added that the suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

    He noted that a thorough investigation is ongoing and that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion.

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Umar Sule, for allegedly raping and impregnating his 17-year-old biological daughter in Kurmi Ado village, Ganjuwa Local Government Area.

    Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the arrest, stating that the command acted promptly upon receiving the report.

    According to him, “Upon receipt of the report, a team of detectives was assigned to conduct a discreet investigation and arrest the accused.

    Wakil said that during interrogation, the defendant willingly admitted his wrongdoing, adding that a medical report revealed the suspect had molested her on different occasions, culminating in her three-month-old pregnancy.

    Wakil further disclosed that the victim, during her interview with the police, confirmed her father’s confession.

    She narrated that the abuse occurred while her mother was away visiting her family in Burra village, Ningi Local Government Area.

    Her father allegedly took advantage of the mother’s absence to repeatedly rape her.

    “Upon the return of her mother, she observed that the girl was pregnant and asked her who was responsible. The victim then revealed that it was her biological father,” Wakil added.

    He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, had directed that the case be charged to court after the completion of investigation.

    The Bauchi State Police Command is investigating the murder of 20-year-old Hajara Isa, who was allegedly killed by her co-wife in their home on February 28.

    The incident came to light on March 3, when Sale Isa of Anguwan Sarakuna, Bauchi, reported the death to the police.

    While the motive remains unclear, family members suspect that Hajara’s co-wife, Fatima Mohammed (28), may be responsible.

    Acting on the report, Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad deployed detectives from the C Division Police Headquarters to investigate the matter.

    In a  statement, the Command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakili confirmed that their findings led to Mohammed’s arrest.

    During interrogation, he said the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the crime.

    She reportedly poured boiling water on the victim and set her body on fire using a melted Bagco sack to destroy evidence.

    The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

    According to the statement, detectives have been assigned to probe it, which may include exhuming the body and carrying out forensic examinations.

    Meanwhile, Muhammad has assured the public that justice will be served.

    Bauchi housewife stabs husband to death over child custody dispute

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old housewife, Salamatu Danjuma, for allegedly stabbing her husband to death during a heated argument over child custody.

    According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the Command, SP Wakil Mohammed on Tuesday, the tragic incident occurred in Nadabo village, Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area, following a dispute about the custody of Salamatu’s six-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

    The statement revealed that the couple initially agreed to bring the child into their home, but the husband later changed his mind, causing tensions to rise.

    In a heated argument that later ensued, Salamatu allegedly grabbed a knife from their bedroom and fatally stabbed her husband.

    Responding to a distress call, detectives from the Bununu Police Division rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to Cottage Hospital, Bununu, where he was confirmed dead.

    Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a discreet investigation, assuring that appropriate legal actions will be taken.

    The suspect remains in custody as operatives of the command continue their probe into the case.

    A 67-year-old man in Bauchi has been accused of defiling two teenagers and offering them N500.

    The fathers of the teenage girls were said to have reported the rape incident at the A’ Divisional Police Headquarters on June 22.

    They reported that Mohammed lured their daughters aged 16 and 17 years into his room and had canal knowledge of them.

    Spokesman of the Command, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed in a statement yesterday that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime and corroborated the victims’ statement.

    He added that the victims further revealed that the suspect had canal knowledge of them up to five times each after which he gave them N500 each, adding that investigation was ongoing.

    In a related development, another suspect, Suleiman Musa, aged 28, was arrested by the police for allegedly luring a nine-year-old girl (name withheld) into his room while she was on errand and forcibly slept with her.

    The mother of the victim was said to have reported the rape incident at A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Bauchi on Thursday; the same day her daughter was allegedly raped by the suspect.

    Wakil revealed that during interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the crime.

    He said that investigation was ongoing, concluding which the suspect would be charged to court.

    Bauchi teenager stabs 15-year-old boy to death

    Tragedy struck in Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State as a 15-year-old Adamu Isa, son of a retired police officer, was fatally stabbed by his 15-year-old friend, Abubakar Isa. The incident was said to have occurred on March 27 following a heated argument between the two teenagers.

    The Nation gathered that the suspect stabbed the deceased in the neck close to the throat with a knife, leading to his death even before he could get to the hospital.

    Spokesman of the command, SP Ahmed Wakili, who confirmed the incident yesterday, told our reporter that on the said day, the Ningi Police Division received a distress call from retired DSP Kasuwa Isa who resides behind the INEC office in Ningi.

    According to Wakil, the retired police officer reported that his son, Adamu Isa, was stabbed with a knife on his neck by one Abubakar Isah, who is also 15 years old and lives behind the NEPA office in Ningi.

    “On receiving the complaint, the DPO of Ningi Division led a team of detectives to the scene of the incident and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital in Ningi, where he was certified dead by a medical doctor.”

    Wakil added that the suspect, Abubakar Isa, had been arrested and was in police custody pending an investigation into the issue.
