    Police arrest six suspected kidnappers in Bauchi, rescue three

    The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended six suspected kidnappers operating in the Toro Local Government Area and rescued three victims unhurt.

    The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.

    According to him, “On September 29, 2025, at about 12:01 a.m., the Bauchi State Police Command received a distress call from a vigilant member of the community, reporting that unidentified gunmen had abducted three men — Idi Umar, Idi Lawan, and Musa Lawal — from Euga village in Toro LGA.”

    He said a swift and coordinated response involving the Toro Area Command, Toro Division, Nabordo Division, and local security partners led to the successful rescue of the victims and arrest of the suspects.

    “The combined team tracked the suspects to the outskirts of the village and carried out a professional operation that resulted in the safe rescue of the victims without any harm. Six suspects were arrested in connection with the incident,” Wakil said.

    Those arrested include Abubakar Usman, Adamu Alo, Abubakar Aliyu, Umar Habu, Abubakar Mamman Abubakar, and Shehu Sambo.

    Wakil added that the rescued victims have been reunited with their families and are in good health.

    He also noted that investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the crime, adding that the suspects are cooperating with police investigators.

    “The suspects will be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) in Bauchi for detailed profiling and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations,” he said.

    Police foil kidnap attempt in Bauchi, rescue two victims, arrest three suspects

    The Bauchi State Police Command has thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Alkaleri Local Government Area, rescuing two victims unhurt and arresting three suspects linked to the crime.

    Police spokesman, CSP Mohammed Wakil, said in a statement on Wednesday that the incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. on September 28, 2025, when armed men stormed Maso Kano village in Jada Pali district and abducted two residents, 50-year-old Hambali Alh. Sa’adu and 35-year-old Jari Alh. Sa’adu.

    Acting swiftly on a distress call, a combined team of police operatives and local hunters confronted the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee. The victims were rescued unharmed and reunited with their families.

    Following investigations between September 29 and 30, the police arrested three suspects — 28-year-old Adamu Ahmadu, 18-year-old Bello Alhaji Musa, and 29-year-old Adamu Alhaji Musa — all from Shalhori village near Kirfi LGA.

    The suspects confessed to the crime and disclosed that they had conspired with three accomplices still at large to demand ransom from the victims’ families.

    Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, praised the operatives and hunters for their professionalism and courage. He directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further probe and reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

    He also urged communities to strengthen cooperation with security agencies by providing credible intelligence to aid the fight against crime.

     “The Command will not relent in pursuing these criminal elements until every accomplice is arrested and brought to justice,” Aliyu assured.

    Police arrest three suspects for motorcycle theft in Bauchi

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested three suspects for stealing a motorcycle and attempting to sell it.The theft was reported on December 16, 2024, by one Haruna Maguwa, who said his Boxer motorcycle was stolen from his home in Tenti Babba Village, Plateau State.

      In a statement, the spokesman of the Command, Superintendent of Police, Ahmed Wakil, said operatives of the Toro Divisional Police Headquarters, tracked the suspects—Yakubu Aminu, Abdul Lawal, and Buhari Abdullahi—all from Magama Gumau Town.

    “On December 16, 2024, a report was filed at the Tenti Babba Village Police Station,  in the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, regarding the theft of a Boxer model motorcycle.’’

    The police recovered the motorcycle and arrested the suspects. It added that they would face charges in court after the investigation was completed.

    Four arrested as Police investigate death, alleged rape of two-year-old in Bauchi

    Bauchi Police Command has arrested four people in connection with the tragic death of a two-year-old girl in Ningi Local Government Area of the state.

    Among those arrested are the child’s 17- year old mother, Lauratu Saleh and 23-year old father, Abubakar Usman, along with a chemist who provided initial medical aid and a relative who assisted in transporting the child’s remains to her father.

    Spokesman of the command, Ahmed Wakili, confirmed the arrests, which were made following investigations.

    Addressing journalists while parading the suspects at the command headquarters yesterday, Ahmed Wakili said a discreet investigation led to the arrest of the suspects who are currently helping to unravel circumstances surrounding the incident.

    Wakili added that the command is also investigating an alleged case of rape as a medical doctor at the Ningi General Hospital confirms signs of sexual assault on the deceased child.

    The corpse of the two-year- old girl was found wrapped in clothes and dumped within the premises of a mosque in an area known as Newada in Ningi, headquarters of Ningi LGA two days ago.
