    Boy, 17 nabbed for removing sister’s eyes for ritual

    A 17-year-old boy, Auwalu Mohammad, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for allegedly removing the eyes of his younger sister in a suspected money ritual attempt.

    The incident reportedly occurred on October 17 in Wailo town, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

    The victim, identified as Rukayya Mohammad, was said to have been lured into the bush by her elder brother, who then brutally attacked her and forcefully removed both eyes.

    According to the spokesperson of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakili, the victim’s father confirmed that Auwalu and Rukayya are biological siblings.

    He recounted that Auwalu deceived Rukayya into accompanying him to a nearby bush, where he committed the act.

    “Sadly, a medical specialist at the hospital confirmed that Rukayya has permanently lost her vision and will never regain her sight,” Wakil stated.

    The police further said that Auwalu Mohammad voluntarily confessed to the crime during interrogation.

    Wakil said investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved.

    Six other suspects were also said to have been arrested in connection with the crime.

    They are Auwal Dahiru, 17, of Bayan Dutse, Mohammed Rabiu, 19, Saleh Ibrahim, 20,

    Nasiru Muhammad, Hassan Garba and Garba Dahiru, 43.

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Mamuda Zakari Yau, for allegedly stabbing a commercial motorcyclist to death and stealing his motorcycle in Bauchi metropolis.

    According to a statement issued by the Command’s Spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), the suspect confessed that he committed the crime because of financial difficulties, as he was under pressure to take a third wife.

    Wakil explained that the tragic incident occurred on Thursday night near the old airport.

    During the encounter, Yau allegedly used a knife to fatally stab the victim, Basiru Mohammed, aged 25, and made away with his red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number NNG 813 UM.

    “Fortunately, the victim managed to raise the alarm, prompting nearby residents to chase after the suspect. He eventually abandoned the motorcycle and fled the scene,” Wakil stated.

    Police operatives, responding swiftly to the distress call, evacuated the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

    His body has been deposited at the hospital morgue for postmortem examination.

    Wakil further revealed that the suspect was tracked and arrested through information retrieved from his recovered mobile phone.

    “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting that he lured the motorcyclist under false pretence and stabbed him with a knife due to financial constraints related to his planned third marriage,” Wakil said.

    Islamic teacher held in Bauchi for assaulting 11-year-old almajiri pupil

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested one Lawal Nasiru, 28, for allegedly assaulting and confining an 11-year-old Almajiri pupil in Darazo Local Government Area.

    In a statement, the spokesman of the command, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said the incident occurred on September 21, this year, when Nasiru, of Unguwar Jarmai, reportedly tied the boy, Sani Abdullahi, with a heavy rope and beat him with a thick cable and stick.

    The victim, a pupil attached to a Tsangaya school, sustained serious injuries on his hands and legs.

    The matter was reported the following day to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Darazo, by Idris Mohammed of Gidan Waya, Darazo, who works with the Social Welfare Department.

    Upon receiving the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent of Police Auwalu Ilu, led a team of officers to the scene, where the suspect was arrested.

    The injured boy was taken to the General Hospital, Darazo, for medical attention.

    During interrogation, the suspect admitted to tying the minor, claiming it was to prevent him from fleeing the Tsangaya school before his parents arrived. However, the victim disclosed that he was mercilessly confined for a long period without justification.

    The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for an investigation.

    The command assured that the suspect would be profiled and charged to court thereafter.

    Police arrest septuagenarian accused of molesting minors 15 times

    The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old watchman, Lawan Sani, for allegedly molesting three teenage girls in Unguwar Sarakuna, with the victims claiming he abused them more than 15 times.

    In a statement, the Command’s spokesman, Chief Superintendent of Police Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the arrest.

    Wakil said the case was reported about 4:00hours on September 1 after a distress indicated that Sani attempted to rape a teenager where the old man serve as watchman.

    “During interrogation, he confessed to having previously influenced the minor with N500 into the same residence. Investigation further indicated that the suspect had sexually molested two additional teenagers, names withheld, through the same techniques,” the police said.

    Police added that the victims were invited for an interview and they confirmed the allegations, adding that the suspect had sexually molested them over 15 times and usually threatened them against disclosing to others.

    Subsequently, both the victims and suspects were subjected to medical examination to determine their health condition.
