    Bazuaye hails Katsina Utd’s doctors over handling of players’ injuries

     

    Katsina United head coach, Baldwin Bazuaye has praised the effort of the Chanji Boys’ medical team after the mature way they handed the injuries  players had in the first round without any adverse effect on their games.

    Players like Destiny Ashadi, Obinna Eleje, Tasiu Lawal and Joel Agboola had serious injuries in the first round but the team’s doctors dealt with it maturely and most of these players have since recovered from their injury spells.

    Bazuaye told SportingLife that he is expecting his players to stay injury free and strive to work their ways into ending the season with their topflight status intact when the second round starts in the next few days.

    The Chanji Boys still have a game to play against Rivers United before ending their first round games and Bazuaye told SportingLife that they are doing everything possible to ensure they claim the three points to ensure that they steer clear of the relegation zone.

    Katsina Gov. Masari unveils Coaches Nikyu, Bazuaye

    Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina on Thursday officially unveiled the two newly appointed coaches of Katsina United Football Club; Bala Nikyu and Baldwin Bazuaye at a brief ceremony held at the badminton court inside Muhammadu Buhari House.

    Nigerian Flamingoes coach, Bala Nikyu and former Mighty Jets of Jos gaffer, Baldwin Bazuaye were personally unveiled by the governor to tinker the club in the coming Nigerian Professional Football League season.

    The sports loving governor charged the coaches to improve on the fortunes of the club.

    While congratulating the chairman of the club, Alhaji Aminu Balele Kurfi for steering the club back to the Nigerian top flight, the governor also recalled with disappointment how the once dreaded club formed by former NFA Chairman Col. Abdulmumuni Aminu went into oblivion.

    He promised that the club would continue to enjoy government support boasting that the club has come to stay among the best in the land.

    In a remark, the chief coach, Nikyu assured that they would strive to make sure the club wins laurels in all competitions.

    “We know the magnitude of the task before us but we shall do our best to make Katsina United one of the most formidable teams in the country. This is a club with a rich history of success and we would work hard to bring back the lost glory, he assured.

    Edo FA honours Bazuaye, Onaghise

    The Edo Football Association has organised two matches in honour of  coaches from the state, Willy Bazuaye and John Onaghise. The matches are scheduled for the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Friday.

    It is part of the state FA’s effort to ensure a befitting burial for the respected coaches. According to the chairman of the association, Frank Ilaboya, the novelty match for ex-Bendel United coach Onaghise will involve old players of the defunct club and a selected side, while a Lagos All-Stars team will play against players who played under Bazuaye and ex-internationals, in honour of the former New Nigeria Bank coach.

    Seventy-nine-year-old Bazuaye was an assistant coach of the national U-23 side when the team won an Olympic gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games. At club level, he managed top sides NNB, Flash Flamingos and Calabar Rovers.

    Aside coaching Bendel United, Onaghise is reputed to have produced top coaches.

    Meanwhile, Ilaboya has congratulated one of the state’s representatives, Kukuruku Dragons of Auchi, for qualifying for the next round of the Federation Cup.

    In an explosive play-off game in Lokoja, Dragons defeated God’s Time of Delta State 3-2. The Edo FA boss praised the team for a job well done and urged them to work harder ahead of their next game in the competition.

    Bazuaye was a patriotic Coach, says Mark

    Senate President, David Mark, Tuesday described late Coach, Willy Bazuaye, as a patriotic coach who put national interest above self.

    Mark in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Senate President, Paul Mumeh in Abuja, noted that late Bazuaye was a forefront indigenous coach who brought honour and glory to his fatherland.

    He recalled the days of late Bazuaye as a player for then Green Eagles of Nigeria and later joined the coaching crew of Father Tico when Nigeria played at the 1978 Africa cup of nations in Accra, Ghana.

    Bazuaye, Mark noted, played a key role as an assistant to coach Bonfrere Jo, when Nigeria’s under 23 team won Gold in Atlanta Georgia Olympic in 1996.

    He also noted the exploits of coach Bazuaye who helped to groom footballers from the old Bendel State that played for the national team.

    “Coach Bazuaye was a great tutor. He nurtured most of our of players of note today. He was a pillar of sports in his own right. We shall miss him”, Mark stated.

    He urged the Federal Government to immortalise late Bazuaye for his contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
