    Deeone, Forever, Cera, Alexis tohost The Beatz Awards Season 9

    The quartet of Deeone, Forever, Cera, and Alexis have been announced as the hosts for the ninth edition of The Beatz Awards.

    Scheduled to take place on November 16, 2024, the CEO and Vision Officer of the awards, Elijah John, made this known during the announcement of the nominees for this year’s edition.

    John said that The Beatz Awards recognises the exceptional works of producers, sound engineers, songwriters, music video directors, and other behind-the-scenes professionals who contribute to the thriving Afrobeats scene.

    ”The Beatz Awards was conceived out of the desire to recognise and reward the creative and technical talents behind the scene in the music and entertainment industry.

    Since its inception, it has grown to become a respected platform, shining the light on music producers, sound engineers, and songwriters, just to mention a few because they all play a critical role in making the industry what it is today.

    ”We cannot continue to celebrate the global acclaim of the Nigerian music and entertainment industry without mentioning the contribution of the people behind music production and the business. Over the years we have celebrated countless talents who have gone on to achieve global recognition.

    ”When we started, there was no recognition for Nigerian music producers but now some of our producers are receiving Grammy Award nominations which is a testament to the fact that what they are doing is globally accepted and recognised by listeners and industry players alike.”

    Elijah John also disclosed that this year’s edition would feature new categories such as the Afro Soul Producer of the Year, and Afro Dancehall Producer of the Year, which reflects the evolution of the industry.

    Rema, DJ YK Mule, others emerge winners at Beatz Awards

    The eight edition of the Beatz Awards, which was held at Muson Centre in Lagos on Saturday night, was all glitz and glamour.

     The awards ceremony, with the theme, The Octave, was hosted by fast rising comedian, Akuidolo Orevaoghene aka Forever, and actress, Alexis Ukpabia.

     Top winners at the awards ceremony include Mavins’ Rema, who won the best songwriter award and popular disc jockey, DJ YK Mule, who won the best DJ male.

     In the same vein, Nanayate Abedoh aka DJ Nana, of Universal Music, won the female DJ of the year, while Blaise Beat won the Afro Highlife producer of the year.

     MTV Base won the Entertainment Cable of the year, Sliverbird Television won the best award for Entertainment Tv Station of the year and Cool FM won the Radio Station of the year.

      The award for Afro Gospel Producer of the year went to music educator and Chief Executive Officer at blueflamemedia21, Wole Adesanya, known as Mr Wols.

     Other award winners were, Bella Naija, Akin Shuga Band, Tosan Wilshare, Sean Okeke, Gorilla Boy, Saszy Afroshii, and Magicsticks.

     The Chief Executive Officer of the Beatz Awards, Elijah John, said The Octave edition was hosted to recognise and celebrate outstanding achievements of the creative minds behind music production, business, and distribution.

     John, who applauded sponsors for believing in Beats Awards, said it is a Nigerian music award show first introduced on Nov. 15, 2015.

    Beatz Awards to honour female producers

    Organisers of the eighth The Beatz Awards have announced the inclusion of a new category – Female Producer of the Year.

    Its founder/CEO, The Beatz Awards, Elijah John, who made this known, said this edition had been expanded to accommodate more people in the music industry.

    Tagged ‘The octave’, John stated that Smirnoff would be sponsoring a new category called the new category.

    “We are championing girl power in the music space. This is the first of its kind in the industry as we have quite a number of female producers in this industry. We want to be the first to push these narratives while making sure that they are properly recognised as well.

    “From inception, we have had the female DJ category, but not one for female producers.

     “Some of them might not be as big as you expect them to be, but because they are in that space already, this award shines a spotlight on them and to encourage others to begin to come out,” he said.

    John said the Nominees Party is billed for October 28 while the awards would on November 18 at the Muson Centre Onikan, Lagos.
