    I almost committed suicide after BBNaija disqualification – Beauty Tukura

    Former Miss Nigeria and Big Brother Naija contestant Beauty Tukura has spoken about her struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts following her disqualification from the show.

    In an interview on BeyondWithEzinne podcast, Tukura revealed she felt overwhelmed by public scrutiny and shame, leading to a dark period where she nearly took her life.

    She said: “I was depressed, I feel like my life ended. I was living in a dark room for weeks and in between, I will do therapy.

    “I cried every day. I was thinking of ending it. I almost actually committed suicide.

    “The heat was too much, and personally, I felt like nothing I said was going to make sense because all they wanted to do was crucify me like Jesus. It was very hard”.

    According to her, after disqualification, she struggled to face her parents, admitting, “I was too ashamed to see them. I didn’t know how to face them. I was in a very bad place.”

    Tukura praised her parents’ unwavering support and messages from fans worldwide, which helped her cope and focus on the positive.

    “I decided to focus on the love. Since then, I’ve always focused on the positive messages,” she said.

    The experience was a turning point for Tukura, who has since reflected on mistakes and the lessons learned.

    “That was the lowest point of my life, and I’ve decided it will stay that way. There’s no room for such mistakes anymore,” she said.

    Reality TV star Beauty Tukura has claimed online pressure from fans added to the breakup with Neo Akpofure, a fellow co-star.

    According to Beauty,their split was due to valid reasons and she has since moved on.

    Beauty in an interview with Toke Makinwa admitted that she had briefly called out Neo on social media after their breakup but deleted the posts.

    Beauty also said the intense scrutiny from their fan base added significant pressure to their relationship.

    She noted that the constant attention made it challenging for them to navigate their romance.

    Beauty also spoke on the current dating landscape, stating that this generation struggles with commitment and accountability and she believes that men are more interested in casual relationships rather than meaningful connections.

    Tukura said: “The reason I broke up with Neo is very valid. I have moved on and am not interested in men right now. I just focus on myself right now.

    “People knew we had broken up because I crashed out like a little girl. I wrote some things, but I deleted it, but someone had already cut it. I had no regret in calling Neo out.

    “Neo and I relationship had a fan base; these fan base people are very passionate; it will be easier if they see things like black and white. The fan base people added a lot of pressure to the relationship. They are watching us, it comes with pressure. “

    Reality TV star Beauty Tukura has confirmed breakup with fellow reality star Neo Akpofure.

    Speaking on the Toke Moments podcast, Beauty revealed that their relationship ended due to valid reasons.

    Describing their time together as “beautiful,” Beauty likened their romance to that of celebrity couple Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.

    Beauty also stated that she’s not interested in dating and intends to keep her future relationships private.

    She vowed that the next man she’ll publicly acknowledge will be her husband.

    She said: “The reason why we broke up, I think it was valid. We were Rihanna and A$AP [Rocky] while it lasted. It was a beautiful relationship.

    Beauty and Neo were in a publicised relationship before things went south in 2024.

    Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Beauty Tukura has been accused of bullying by her alleged secondary schoolmate, Ruby.

    Earlier in November, an X user simply identified as Ruby, accused Beauty of “putting girls through hell” in secondary school.

    Ruby said she was “bullied to the extent that I attempted suicide” and that she had to “deal with depression.”

    She wrote on X: “Beauty Tukura put a lot of girls through hell in secondary school. When she was disqualified from BBNaija, we threw a party.

    “Do you know how horrible you have to be for people to come together and celebrate your downfall?

    “I was battling abuse at home. Then I went to boarding school and had to deal with constantly being bullied.

    “I was bullied to the extent that I attempted suicide. Recovered and came back to school, still got picked on for being depressed.”

    However, in a statement shared via Instagram on Tuesday, November 22, Beauty refuted Ruby’s claims, adding that she is “against any form of bullying”.

    The statement said an investigation was conducted to determine whether Ruby attended the secondary school where Beauty graduated from.

    According to the statement, it was discovered that there was “no record” to prove that the X user ever attended the institution.

    Beauty’s agency described the allegations as “malicious, baseless and completely lacking in truth.”

    The statement read in part: “This accusation was profoundly surprising to our client, who maintains a firm stance against any form of bullying.

    “Consequently, in addressing the matter, we conducted a thorough investigation and verification with Our Client’s Alma mater, the American University of Nigeria Academy (AUN Academy) Adamawa State, Nigeria.

    “To confirm whether or not Ruby Deborah Batubo was indeed a student. Upon conclusion of our investigation, it was discovered that there is no record of Ruby Deborah Batubo ever attending the aforementioned institution.

    “Whilst we appreciate and recognise the commitment to oppose bullying and the courage to expose wrongdoers, whether from the past or present.

    “It is regrettable that Ruby Deborah Batubo has chosen to engage in defamatory actions against Our Client. This was aimed at tarnishing her well-deserved reputation and successful career.

    “We emphasize that these allegations against Our Client are not only malicious but also unequivocally baseless, completely lacking in truth, and, at best, mere products of Ruby Deborah Batubo’s imagination.

    “As a law-abiding citizen who believes in due process, we affirm her unwavering commitment to rectifying this egregious situation and seeking due redress through all possible lawful channels.”
