    Bella Shmurda declares Olamide ‘number one’ in music industry

    Popular singer, Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, better known as Bella Shmurda has recounted his experience as a newbie in the music industry.

    The singer acknowledged the YBNL boss, Olamide Baddo as the biggest success to be recorded in the music industry, calling him the ‘number one’.

    He stated this in a recent interview where he recalled how the singer helped him when he was an upcoming singer and how he stood by him during the difficult times.

    The 28-year-old singer asserted that if his children ask him who helped him become a significant figure, he would mention Olamide before mentioning his mum.

    “That’s Olamide Baddo, just him. I’m telling you to be sincere, I’m not telling you this because I am part of his branch. 

    “I’m saying out of what I’ve seen, what I have known, this man stayed back and properly put most of us young artists in a proper position, in a proper space. 

    “Even if my child grows up and is like ‘daddy who helped you become something’, I would first say Baddo first before I even remember that I have a mother. I’m telling you to be sincere so I feel like Olamide Baddo is number one over anybody,” he said.

    Afrobeats should be respected not downgraded, Bella Shmurda tells colleagues

    Singer Bella Shmurda has expressed displeasure over the belittling and derogatory remarks of afrobeats.

    The Nation reported that Burna Boy and Wizkid recently disowned the genre and their revelations sparked controversy amongst music lovers. 

    Burna Boy had stated that Afrobeats lacks “substance”, stressing that he does Afrofusion and not Afrobeats.

    Wizkid on his part disowned the genre, saying he doesn’t want to be boxed as an Afrobeats artiste.

    However, reacting while featuring in the latest episode of the London 90 podcast, Shmurda said Nigerian artists should respect Afrobeats.

    He explained he has been silent on the issue for a long time because he doesn’t want to be caught in the center of the controversy.

    He said: “Recently, I heard something, I saw something that made me feel bad. I wanted to tweet but I don’t want to be in a position whereby I have issues with people.

    “But for real, We artistes should respect Afrobeats. This is our genre, we can’t downgrade it. No matter your level in the music industry, you can’t downgrade this thing that God has given us.”

We have a whole lot of them… those guys are already shaking the world…those boys are already doing wonders.”

    Why I stopped smoking weed – Bella Shmurda

    Singer Bella Shmurda has explained anxiety is the reason he quit smoking marijuana.

    Bella Shmurda said he stopped smoking weed four years ago because he was “scared of the future.”

    He however said he smokes cigarettes and takes liquor.

    He stated in contrast to assertions that marijuana use fosters creativity, it wasn’t the case with him.

    Bella Shmurda, in the latest episode of the ‘In My Opinion’ podcast said: “I don’t smoke igbo [weed]. I used to but I started having anxieties smoking weed. I started getting scared of the future.

    “So, four years ago, I stopped smoking weed. I just take cigarettes and liquor.”

    “Everything I was doing when I was smoking weed, I was having anxieties. At a point, it was affecting me in the studio. I would just be lost in the middle. It wasn’t working anymore. I just have to stop. That was earlier in my career. It wasn’t helping.”

    Bella Shmurda speaks on impact of fatherhood

    Singer Bella Shmurda has spoken on how being a father has sharpened his mannerism and career.

    The ‘Dagbana’ hit maker in a recent documentary by WeTalk Sound stated that his son has inspired him to be better while also expressing his desire to create a legacy that his child would be proud of.

    “I think fatherhood inspired me. What’s in my head is ‘Wetin’ this boy go see in the next 10 years?’

    “I don’t want him to see my old videos, I want him to see the new Bella who is still doing things.

    ” I don’t want him to hear ‘history’ like his daddy used to sing. I want to be the type of father that when he turns on the TV, he’d see and then say ‘That’s my daddy’, that’s what I want to be to my child. He’s an inspiration to me,” he said.

    Bella in July 2023 welcomed a son to the world, which was immediately well-received by fans, followers and celebrities.

    The announcement was made via his official X account in a detailed write-up and a photograph of the bundle of joy.

    In the same announcement, he revealed that he shouldered a heart-wrenching loss in 2022 with the death of his child.

    Recounting the emotional turmoil, he wrote,:”A few days to the drop of my album last year, I was an emotional and mental wreck. I’d just gotten to the UK where I was scheduled to do some promotional activities when I heard the news that I’d lost the child I was expecting at birth.

    “I got the news that my little boy is here. I’m happy and blessed. What’s lost can never be replaced, but I have another chance, a new lease on life. A new purpose. I’m a new Daddy; DO NOT DISTURB.”

    Singer Abiola Ahmed Akinbiyi, popularly known as Bella Shmurda, is set to release two music projects in honour of his late friend and colleague, MohBad.

    Bella Shmurda announced two new releases: an album titled “September 12” and an EP titled “Road to September 12.”

    The Nation reported that MohBad passed away on September 12, 2023 under mysterious circumstances.

    The “Dagbana” crooner honored Mohbad during his most recent music performance in London.

    The Dagbana crooner in a new documentary titled ‘Bella Shmurda: Tension in Ibadan 2024,’ revealed that he hijacked a tricycle at some point to fund his music.

    He said lack of foresight also made him sign a record deal that didn’t end well.

    Shmurda said: “I shouldn’t have rushed. We will never get to see the future. So everybody is rushing. I went into some things that didn’t later pay off. I went to sign a deal with rush which later was funny.

    “I stole keke (tricycle) because of money but Alhamdulilah, I’m here today.”

    The singer said becoming a father has affected the kind of music he makes and visuals he puts out.

    “Seeing my son inspires me. What’s on my mind is, ‘Wettin this boy go see in the next 10 years?’ I don’t want him to see my old videos. I want him to see a new Bella,” he said.

    He made this announcement on his X account, specifically addressing a few individuals not to provide any reason for him to terminate his relationships with them.

    Recall that Bella Shmurda lost his dear friend and singer, MohBad in 2023.

    Bella Shmurda has continued to insist on justice for those who bullied Mohbad when he was alive. However, he said he has decided to start anew and leave the past behind this year.

    Shurmda wrote: “To Friends and family moving on 2024, is a personal year for and for me alone. To those I have supported alhamdulilah and to those I haven’t may God help us. But don’t give me a reason to cut u off, respect and boundaries are important.”
