    Basketmouth is bereaved

    The mother of top comedian Bright Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth is dead. She passed on Monday night, according to the comedian.

    Though he did not state if she was sick before her demise, he however, took to his Instagram to pour out his feeling and how much he is going to miss her.

    “Last night my angel left me, my first love stopped breathing and it’s the deepest pain I’ve ever felt,” wrote Basketmouth.

    “I love you for every sacrifice you made to make me the man I am today, I’ve loved you through the tough times. I’ve loved you through happier days and all I can say at this point is that I will love you forever. I will miss you mummy.”

    Burial plans are yet to be disclosed.

    Veteran actress, Joke Silva, has lost her octogenarian mother, Dr Marienne Abimbola Silva, to the cold hands of death. The sad incidence occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

    According to information, the late Abimbola Silva died peacefully on the morning of July 19. She was the third female doctor in Nigeria but the first Nigerian female to bag a medical degree.

    Silva, who died at the age of 89, was also bestowed with the honourable award of Officer of the Order of The Niger (OON).

    Only a few weeks back, precisely on Saturday, May 16, Joke Silva celebrated her aged mum in Lagos.

    Joke marked the day by pouring encomiums on her mum who is regarded as an icon in her field. “My mama is 89 today. Dr (Mrs.) Abimbola Silva. One of the first female medical Dr’s in Nigeria. Lord I am privileged to care for my gorgeous mama. Thank you. HBD fit iii in babe,” she had said.

    Married to veteran actor, Olu Jacobs, Silva was honoured with the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) in 2014 alongside Time acclaimed Nollywood queen, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.

    The late Silva is survived by children and grandchildren.

    Finance expert and Chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust-Fund, Dr, Ngozi Olejeme, is bereaved. She is practically inconsolable over the death of her father, Pa Philips Osakwe Diunor, who died at St Luke’s Hospital, Asaba, on Monday, January 12.

    Ngozi Olejeme has always been known to love her deceased father with uncommon passion. He was before his death a nationalist, devout Christian, acute administrator, entrepreneur, management consultant, philanthropist and social mobiliser.

    Although Pa Diunor was born in a generation when women were considered as nothing more than help mates, he raised his daughter to take charge of her life and be the best she can even in a male-dominated environment.

    “Words cannot convey what he meant to me. He was a great man, a loving father and lover of his people,” said Ngozi in a fit of lamentation. She said her father was dedicated to serving his community to the best of his ability, describing him as a great personality who lived a life of sacrifice and built a bridge of hope and unity among his people.

    FRSC returns accident victim’s money to bereaved family

    The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ore Unit in Ondo State, has returned a sum of N881,790 to the relatives of one Olabisi Ajayi, who lost his life in an auto crash that occurred along the Benin-Ore Expressway last Wednesday.

    Speaking while presenting the cash to the relations of the deceased yesterday in his office, the FRSC Unit Commander in Ore, Assistant Corps Commander Michael Arinzeagu, said the accident occurred at about 7.15pm on the fateful day.

    He explained that four people, all adult males, were involved in the auto crash which involved two cars and two motorcycles.

    He added that only Olabisi died, while the other three victims have been hospitalised.

    Arinzeagu expressed his condolence with the relatives of the late Olabisi, who was a 34-year-old graduate of Banking and Finance from the University of Benin.

    NOLLYWOOD actress, Ronke Oshodi Oke, has lost her dad. The actress was said to have returned to the country after the demise of her father recently.

    It will be recalled that the actress had her baby in the US some months ago and had since remained in God’s own country to nurse her child. We gathered that while the well-endowed actress was in America, her father reportedly fell sick and died. Upon hearing the news of her father’s death the actress quickly raced back to the country to see to burial arrange-ments.

    These are not the best of times for Ilorin-based lawyer, Lateef Jiddah. Penultimate Tuesday, the city of Ilorin, Kwara State capital, was thrown into mourning as the news of the death of his father and foremost Ilorin politician, Alhaji Amosa Jiddah, spread like wild fire.

    The late Amosa Jidda was one of the close associates of late Dr. Olusola Saraki, and he enjoyed the privilege of being one of the few that enjoyed the listening ears of the late Waziri of Ilorin. He also cultivated a network of friends across the country during his days in the Nigeria Customs Service.

    The retired customs officer enjoyed very close rapport with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, who he served as state coordinator during his presidential campaign in 1992.

    Jidda died at Saint Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, last week.

    Though the reason behind Monalisa’s brother’s death is still sketchy plans are underway to give him a befitting burial.

    BEREAVED Niger Tornadoes midfielder Azubuike Okey has said he will report to Eagles training camp today only days after his mother passed on. “I will be in camp because that is what my mother would have wished,” the highly-rated Okey informed MTNFootball.com.

    “It is a big blow for all of us because she was everything to us, we will miss her but she will want us to continue fighting to be the best in what we want to be in life.” Okey’s mother died on Wednesday after a brief illness in Suleija.

    The exciting defensive midfielder or attacking midfielder is returning to the national team ahead of a friendly against Venezuela in Miami on November 14 after he was first called up in March. He has also trained with both the U-17 and U-20 national teams. He was one of the biggest revelations of the past season in only his first season in the top flight. He is currently on the wanted list of several Nigeria Premier League clubs including Enyimba, Warri Wolves and Wikki Tourists after Tornadoes were relegated.

    SOCIALITE and politician, Lola Adefowope, is bereaved. The former Ogun State liaison officer lost her mother. The family, we gathered, was on vacation abroad when the deceased succumbed to death at age 72.

    The former House of Representatives aspirant, we also learnt, is making arrangement to bring the corpse back home and also make preparations for the burial.
