    Olabimtan Hails Akeredolu’s at 61

    Former Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan on Friday extolled the virtues of the state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on his 61st birthday, saying “You are a character that outwit, outlast, and outplay the rest of your contemporaries”.
    Akeredolu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who was born on 21st July 1956 at Owo in the Northern Senatorial District of the state, clocks 61 today.
    In a congratulatory message personally signed by him a, Olabimtan who was the Director General of the Governorship Campaign of Akeredolu said history and posterity will always be kind to the governor whenever the story of consistency, doggedness, firmness, honesty and sincerity of purpose is being told in the nation.
    Olabimtan also congratulated the wife of the governor, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu who marked her 64th birthday on Thursday, describing her as woman of valour worthy of emulation by the younger generation.
    “On behalf of all the nuclear and extended members of my family, i congratulate you, your Excellency as you add another year today. I want to say without mincing words that your consistency, doggedness, firmness, honesty and sincerity of purpose are unparalleled.
    “Today, we may not say much about you but history and posterity will always be kind to you for being sincere to your belief. Without being hypocritical, i can say that you certainly outwit, outlast, and outplay the rest of your contemporaries.
     “I wish you more wisdom, knowledge and understanding needed to lead our dear state into Canaan land; triumph against the tangles of life and the grace to live in good health till the end.
    “Also, permit me to use this opportunity to congratulate her Excellency, Chief Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu who added a new year to her age yesterday. Such woman of valour and a personification of beauty worthy of emulation only deserve a man of uncommon destiny like you.” Olabimtan said.

    100 days in office: Akeredolu gets passmark

    The Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday, gave Gov. Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, a pass mark for for performing beyond expectation within 100 days in office.

    Mrs Morenike Alaka, the Caretaker Chairperson of the council area, made this commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Okitipupa.

    Alaka said that Akeredolu had brought real governance to the masses in the state, especially those at the grassroots.

    Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who emerged winner in the Nov. 26, 2016 governorship election, was inaugurated as the sixth executive governor of the state on Feb. 24.

    She said that the governor swung into action by paying the salaries of civil servants, who were being owed several months of salaries by the previous administration.

    According to her, the state is now wearing a new look, as Akeredolu has completed most of the state road projects abandoned by the past administration.

    “The Akeredolu administration has brought a fresh breath and succour to the masses of this state in 100 days.

    “Commercial activities have become active, as civil servants now receive their salaries as at when due and some of the arrears owed by the past administration have been paid.

    “Put politics aside, sincerely, this government has performed well in just 100 days in office,” she said.

    The chairperson also lauded the wife of the governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu for inaugurating the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) to detect and treat breast cancer in women.

    She also hailed her initiative in skill acquisition programme, which she said, would go a long way to better the lives of the women.

    Alaka urged the residents of the state to continue to cooperate with the present administration and pray for its success.

  • Breast cancer: Mrs. Akeredolu tasks OSOPADEC on enlightenment of women

    Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the Ondo State governor, has tasked the state’s Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) on the proper enlightenment of women in the state’s coastal area on breast cancer.

    Akeredolu spoke on Wednesday when the commission’s board members led by its chairman, Mr. Gbenga Edema, paid her a courtesy visit in her office in Akure.

    She called for the full support of OSOPADEC in educating the women on breast cancer and how to prevent it without delay.

    The governor’s wife said breast cancer was not a spiritual attack but a medical challenge that could be treated and managed very well.

    She insisted that the people could not be left to die of a disease that was preventable.

    “People must discard taboos and superstitious beliefs about the disease by stopping to spread false information because a healthy population is vital for productivity.

    “We must prioritise the health of the people in the area by strengthening and equipping their primary health care centres with up to date facilities,’’ Akeredolu said.

    The governor’s wife described Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu as a very straight forward man and urged the board members to be hardworking and transparent to ensure good representation of their people.

    She said that the commission had enormous responsibilities to perform for the people, saying that the government was determined to actualise a new dawn in the state.

    The chairman of OSOPADEC, Mr. Gbenga Edema, thanked the governor’s wife for her tremendous service to humanity and the less privileged since she came on board.

    Edema said that women were indispensable to societal development.

    He also described the state governor as a man of integrity, assuring that the commission would ensure a good representation of the people and impact positively on their lives.
