    Gospel singer Big Bolaji laid to rest in Ibadan

    Popular gospel artist Bolaji Olanrewaju, widely known as Big Bolaji, has been buried at All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan. 

    Big Bolaji died on April 19 at 50 after a brief illness.

    The burial ceremony, which began on Wednesday, capped a deeply emotional funeral service that drew family, friends, and luminaries from the gospel music community to honor the late singer’s legacy.

    The final rites commenced at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, with a lying-in-state and funeral service.

    Mourners watched in somber silence as pallbearers carried Big Bolaji’s flower-adorned casket into the venue.

    The atmosphere was heavy with grief, yet vibrant with celebration of his life, as a tribute video showcasing his musical journey and spiritual impact played to tears and applause from attendees.

    Prominent gospel artists, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, and Yetunde Are, joined popular comedian Woli Agba and other well-wishers to pay their last respects.

    Following the service, a solemn burial procession made its way to All Souls Private Cemetery.

    There, Big Bolaji’s wife, siblings, and loved ones stood in quiet reflection as the beloved artist was committed to the earth, bringing a close to a life dedicated to faith and song.

    The family in a statement said: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bolaji Olarewaju, affectionately known as “Big B,” a cherished father, husband, brother, and an esteemed figure in both the church community, an ordained Pastor in the RCCG and a giant in the music industry and our community.

    “Bolaji left us on Easter Saturday, 19th April 2025, after a brief illness.

    “His departure leaves a void in our hearts that can not be filled. Bolaji’s life was a testament to his passion for music, his unwavering faith, and his dedication to uplifting those around him. His legacy is not only in the melodies he created but in the lives he touched and the unquantifiable joy he spread.”

    “Details regarding the obsequies will be shared in due course as we come together to celebrate Bolaji’s remarkable life and legacy. Thank you for respecting our wishes during this incredibly difficult time.”

    For several years Bolaji organised annual concert tagged: “Turnitup With Big Bolaji” in Ibadan.

    2. He was converted and raised at the headquarters of The Sword Of The Spirit Ministries under the tutelage of Bishop Francis Wale Oke.

    4. He attended Subuola Nursery and Primary School.
