Bimbo Okoya: Diva ups her game

Fame is an intoxicant that gives its victim a momentary high and being the most talked about on the celebrity scene brings its own comfort. But these are ephemeral pleasures that yield no lasting legacy, and popular Lagos babe, Bimbo Okoya, appears to know that much. No longer does she lust for the fleeting glory of the limelight. Her latest moves are of a rather more lasting nature.

Bimbo, one of the daughters of Aare of Lagos, Chief Rasak Akanni Okoya of the Eleganza fame, has left behind a life devoted to frivolities as she opts to make a name for herself in the business world. At a time, she ran AOMS, an integrated marketing agency located within the Eleganza premises on Adeyemo Alakija. And only recently, she joined the British American Tobacco Company in a high profile capacity. She has also been involved with the oil giant, OANDO Plc.

On the personal front, Bimbo displays the resilience and determination that has driven her to succeed in the business world. Though her marriage to Liberian big boy, Prince Urey, sadly crashed like a pack of cards after just three years, she wasted no time picking up the pieces of her life and moving on.

No man who is unwilling to persevere to the end in their nature and education should bring children into the world, says the great Greek philosopher, Plato. Alhaji Rasaq Akanni Okoya, the Aare of Lagos, appears to have adopted Plato’s words as a guiding principle.

Besides paving the way for his children’s success by building world class companies, many of which are under his children’s control, Alhaji Okoya has instilled in them good moral values. This is evident in the life of one of his daughters, Bimbo Okoya, who after attending Ivy League universities and gathering work experiences, is set to rule the corporate world.

Bimbo, who once ran AOMS, an integrated marketing agency sited at Eleganza Biro Plaza on Adeyemo Alakija Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, has joined British America Tobacco Company. Bimbo frowns against the frivolous lifestyles of some sliver-spoon kids and has vowed to follow a different path.

If there is an act Bimbo Okoya is perfect at, it is the ability to brand and rebrand herself. There is no doubt that she learnt this trait from her father, Alhaji Rasaq Akanni Okoya, who is not only a great father and shrew entrepreneur but also a star in the art of self-development. These were traits that aided his determination to guide his children on the path of success.

He has been able to achieve much of the foregoing by building world class companies, many of which are being managed by his children. The Aare of Lagos has erected a formidable entrepreneurial foundation upon which one of his children is currently building. He is one of the few wealthy Nigerians who seem to have got it right in terms of raising children with sound entrepreneurial acumen.

This much is evident in one of his daughters, Bimbo Okoya, a product of Ivy League universities who has garnered a lot of experience and is now set to rule the corporate world. She is following in her father’s footsteps and is no doubt making him proud.

Bimbo, who used to run AOMS, an integrated marketing agency sited at Eleganza Biro Plaza on Adeyemo Alakija Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, has now joined British America Tobacco Company. And unlike some of her silver-spoon friends who engage in frivolous lifestyles, she is bent on carving a niche for herself.

Bimbo Okoya not in a hurry

Beautiful Bimbo Okoya, first daughter of billionaire businessman and veteran socialite, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, has always been a tough cookie to crack. The cerebral lady, who can easily pass for a beauty queen, has hardened her resolve towards men and turned her back on love. She has adopted a ‘once bitten twice shy’ attitude, bracing up her heart against the arrows of cupid and has implemented a resolution to stay off love and marriage.

After her marriage to her Liberian husband crumbled, she was said to have informed some of her friends that marriage is not on the card for now. She developed a thick skin and put together the pieces of her life and channelled her passion to her work.  The gorgeous lady used to be the CEO of the now defunct AOMS Marketing Solutions. After the progress of her marriage came to a screeching halt, it was expected that her beauty and success would act as catalysts to another love affair and another marriage.

Surprisingly, it appears Bimbo is not in a hurry to jump the broom anytime soon and has decided to relish the perks of being single for a long while.

Bimbo Okoya has paid her dues in the corporate world by contributing to the growth of various organisations such as British America Tobacco (BAT) and OANDO.
