  • Gunmen kill youth at birthday party

    A birthday party held in the Agege area of Lagos State ended on a tragic note penultimate Sunday, after unidentified gunmen stormed the party and gruesomely killed the celebrator identified as Musty Sokoto.

    Sources said Musty was a popular youth among the members of Hausa community in Agege, especially for his philanthropy.

    It was learnt that the guests scampered to safety when some stern-looking gunmen suddenly invaded the party and opened fire on Musty at close range.

    His killers were said to have fled immediately Musty fell down in a pool of his own blood.

    “ It was like a scene from the movies when the fierce-looking men stormed the party and shot the celebrator dead. The young man was dancing with friends on the occasion when he was shot dead and his killers escaped from the scene as guests scampered into safety in nearby buildings.

    “Although, the reason for his gruesome killing is unknown, but the late Musty was such an unassuming boy and did not keep bad company. Even the party he organised to mark his birthday was    a small bash attended by his friends and associates.”

    A community leader, Alhaji Tanko Abideen urged the police to unravel the mystery behind Musty’s killing and stepped up surveillance activities around Agege and environ.

    He said: ” I am urging the police to fish out Musty’s killers and unravel the mystery behind his gruesome death. The police should also put in place a proactive surveillance of Agege community and fish out criminal gangs who might be killing innocent residents in the neighbourhood.”

    Contacted, the spokesman of Lagos State Police Command, Mr Chike Oti promised to revert to our correspondent. He was unable to do so at press time.

    Three cousins die after attending birthday party

    Three boys have been found dead shortly after attending a birthday party.

    The deceased who are said to be cousins are Micheal Osula, Igie Edosomwan and Kelvin Idemudia.

    They were said to have died after a birthday party held at Ogida quarters in Egor Local Government Area.

    A source said they were confirmed dead in a hospital they were rushed to when they complained of not feeling well.

    A mother of one the deceased, Mrs. Comfort Edosomwan, said one of the victim was her only son.

    She said he was about to eat when his friend called him to accompany him to attend the birthday party.

    She alleged that the incident was a case of money ritual and urged the police to thoroughly investigate the matter.

    She stated that one of the suspects arrested in connection to the deaths recently returned from Ghana.
