Singer Blackface has revealed that his former bandmate 2Baba declined his invitation to feature on his latest album, “The Return.”

Blackface disclosed this in an interview with TVC.

According to him, he went ahead with the project, which features 18 to 19 tracks, including a collaboration with Faze, another former member of their iconic group Plantashun Boiz.

He stated: “I have just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called The Return and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. If somebody gives you the impression that they are not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead.”

No artist denied hijacking my ‘vibes’ – Blackface

Singer Blackface has clarified the accusations of colleagues stealing his intellectual property.

In a recent interview with TVC, he emphasised that his accusations are not baseless or for entertainment.

Blackface explained that many artists are inspired by his work and incorporate his vibes into their own music.

However, he stressed that the issue lies in the lack of credit and proper acknowledgment.

He stated: “People jack my vibes. They love them. It’s not their fault. If I was not me, I would be jacking me too”.

Blackface also highlighted the importance of registering songs and the implications of using published works without permission.

He argued that the fact that none of the accused artists has denied the allegations suggests there is truth to his claims.

“All my songs are being jacked because when you release a song it becomes a published work. The songs are all registered. There’s no song that’s released that’s not registered. Once it is in the public domain, it’s a published work. Was it published before your work?

“It’s not about whether I’ve viable proofs or not. The truth is that the action is wrong. So many Nigerian artists have jacked my songs. And these people that I’ve complained about, they have never for once denied it. So you people would have seen that and say there’s an iota of truth in what Blackface is saying,” he said.

Former Plantashun Boiz member, Blackface, has refuted claims made by Kennis Music boss, Kenny Ogungbe, about wanting to sign the iconic boy band.

Speaking during a live chat with media personality Daddy Freeze, Blackface clarified that Ogungbe, fondly called Baba Keke, had instead offered him a solo recording contract, which he turned down.

According to Blackface, the offer came when he introduced another artist, Marvelous Benjy, to Kennis Music for a potential deal. He explained that Ogungbe expressed interest in working with him individually rather than with the group.

“He wanted to work with me as a solo artist because I took Marvelous Benjy’s CD to Kennis Music. I wanted him to sign Marvelous Benjy, but Kennis Music said if I was talking about myself, he would have been interested. I told him, ‘No, I’m with my team. My team needs me more than ever.’ So, there was no contract for Plantashun Boiz,” Blackface stated.

He added that had there been a contract for the group, he would have made it known publicly. The revelation comes amid ongoing discussions about the history and legacy of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, once comprising Blackface, 2Baba, and Faze.

But personally me and him we have nothing to discuss. It has to be business. There is no need waiting for who is not ready to be committed to a project.”
