  • Seven killed in Borno suicide attack

    A male suicide bomber on Monday killed seven people in a mosque during morning prayer in Konduga local government area of Borno State.

    The Head of Vigilante Group in the area, Malam Ali Kolo, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

    Kolo said seven other persons including a child were wounded when the bomber detonated the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped to his body during the congregational prayer.

    He said the suicide bomber sneaked into the mosque at Mainari area of Konduga and carried out the attack.

    He said: “It is not clear how the suicide bomber infiltrated the town and attacked the mosque.

    “The building collapsed during the explosion, and the victims were evacuated from the rubble.”

    The Head of Rescue Team, Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Bello Dambatta, confirmed the attack.

    Dambatta said the injured persons have been taken to the Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.

    The Borno State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed that a suicide bomber and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were killed in a Monday night’s attack in Maiduguri, the state capital.

    At least 17 other persons were injured in the incident.

    The command’s spokesman, Joseph Kwaji, said in a statement that the incident occurred at 8:30 p.m. at Muna Delti area of Maiduguri.

    Kwaji said a male suicide bomber who was riding a bicycle detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (EID) strapped to his body, killing him and three CJTF members in the area.

    He said 17 other persons sustained injuries in the blast, adding that those injured were evacuated to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital for treatment.

    According to him, the police Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) team had sanitized the area while normalcy had been restored.

    Four people have been killed in a suicide attack in Amarwa village, Konduga local government area of Borno State.

    A top security source confirmed that the attacker, a male suicide bomber, detonated his explosive in the midst of people and killed three villagers,

    At least 13 others were injured in the attack.

    The source said all the wounded people have been evacuated to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).

    Suicide bomber kills eight in Borno

    At least eight people were killed on Monday when a female suicide bomber detonated her explosives at a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State.

    The head of the state emergency management agency, Ahmed Satomi, said the incident happened at about 6:00 a.m. in the London Ciki area of the state capital.

    “She killed eight people and injured 15 others. The mosque was being guarded by civilian JTF (joint task force militia) during prayers,” Satomi said.

    The Borno State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the killing of five persons in a suicide attack in Konduga local government area of the state.

    The Spokesman of the command, Mr. Victor Isuku, disclosed this in a statement in Maiduguri.

    He said, “Information received from Konduga has it that at about 2130 hours on Monday, three Female suicide bombers detonated explosives strapped on their bodies at Shuwa settlement of Mandarari Ward Konduga, killing themselves and two others.

    “While six persons sustained injuries, Normalcy has been restored in the area.”

  • Seven killed in Borno attack

    The Borno State Police Command on Friday confirmed the death of seven persons after two suspected female suicide bombers attacked Mandarari ward in Konduga local government area of the state on Thursday.

    Spokesman for the command, Murtala Ibrahim said in a statement in Maiduguri that two suspected female suicide bombers “detonated explosives strapped to their bodies at Mandarari ward in Konduga LGA, killing themselves and five others.”

    Six persons sustained various degrees of injuries, he said.

    “The corpses and injured persons were evacuated to General Hospital Konduga, and normalcy restored to the area.”

    A separate source said four of the casualties were children

    The attack came 24 hours after three suspected female suicide bombers were killed while attempting to attack a military outpost near Muna garage in the outskirt of Maiduguri.
