The Federal Government has ordered the closure of Metal Manufacturing Nig. Ltd, Sagamu, Ogun State, for allegedly “operating in violation of safety rules and regulations.”
Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, on Friday during an ongoing nationwide inspection operation said the company was exposing workers to a number of hazards, including chemical substances, noise, and dust because it had refused to provide workers with the necessary safety equipment, such as masks, gloves, and boots.

The minister, who was accompanied by the Director, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in the ministry, Lauretta Adogu, declared the government’s resolve to go hard on erring companies operating in unsafe environments that put the lives of workers at risk.
Onyejeocha, who issued warnings to other companies operating in the country, specifically read the riot act to the management of the company.
In a statement signed by her Special Adviser (Media) Emameh Gabriel, on Friday in Abuja, the minister described what she witnessed at the factory as horrible, noting that “despite several petitions against the company, they remain adamant.”
