Helpless breast cancer patient dies weeping

ours after this paper carried her story, cancer patient Mrs Oluwabunmi Olabiyi died yesterday before help could reach her.

She required N7million for a surgery to remove her right breast which got infected after the removal of her left breast.

Thenews of her death reached our reporter about 4.10 pm through a call from a woman, who simply gave her name as Bukola, a sympathiser of the late Mrs Olabiyi.

The late Mrs Olabiyi battled breast cancer for three years.

The caller wept profusely for about two minute, before saying: “That woman, Mrs Olabiyi, whose … whose story was published in your newspaper today (yesterday), has died; she gave up at 3.30 pm. She died weeping!”

In our story, the late Mrs Olabiyi pleaded: “… Every second now, I pray to invite death to come quickly and take me away. God will take care of my children should I die. Death must come now, if help refuses to come my way.”

The late Mrs Olabiyi, who is survived by three children a widower, hailed from Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

Her poor widower could not help her thriving provision business collapsed while she was ill.

Relations and sympathisers took her to various hospitals when her left breast became infected.

When our reporter visited her in hospital in Bariga a Lagos suburb, she pleaded: “This pain is too much for me to bear any longer; please, help me beg death to come now!”

Her remains have been deposited at a mortuary in Lagos.

Some months ago, I was only worried about my children; now, I am in deeper pains. Every second now, I pray for death to come quickly and take me away. God will take care of my children should I die. Death must come now, if help refuses to come my way”

Writhing in pains amid tears yesterday, Mrs Oluwabunmi Olabiyi, who has been battling breast cancer for over three years, prayed for death.

Holding our reporter by his leg, the mother of three said: “This pain is too much for me to bear any longer; please, help me beg death to come now!”

Mrs Olabiyi’s looked despondent as she stared at her swollen arms in self-pity. “God will raise people to help you; be hopeful,” a relation pleaded as he broke down in tears.

Mrs Olabiyi realised something might be wrong when her last child, Emmanuel began to refuse to suck her right breast.

Whenever she tried to force the breast on the boy, he resorted to crying.

“He was always crying each time I attempted to force it on him. Suddenly, I noticed a lump in my right breast, following which I sought medical attention,” she told The Nation.

She was told at the hospital that she had developed breast lump, but she wasted no time to get it removed on April 22, 2010.

Mrs Olabiyi thought her troubles were over until a few months later when another medical diagnosis revealed a cancerous growth in the same breast.

At that point, her fortunes began to decline. However, her family rose to the occasion. But with no financial help from anywhere, she underwent her second surgery on June 10, 2011, during which the breast was removed.

Her hope of returning to business got a boost when she raised a loan.

When she felt better days had come, armed robbers broke into her shop near her Ijoko, Ogun State home. Mrs Olabiyi was still smarting from the setback when yet another medical diagnosis gave her a shocker: Her second breast has been infected with cancer!

As the infection festered, she sought help from the public through an account with the Zenith Bank under the name: Bunmi Olabiyi, with number, 1004542305. Reason: She needs N7million to help her undergo treatment in India.

Family sources said the efforts yielded about N300,000,  which has gone into chemotherapy, a temporary treatment aimed at weakening the cells of the cancer. She has been doing this pending when she can raise the N7million.

The Nation gathered yesterday that she might be sent out of the Bariga, Lagos-based hospital where she has been for some time, for lack of funds.

Mrs Olabiyi was born about 34 years ago in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, where she obtained her first school leaving certificate.

The third girl in a family of six, with only two survivors, she lost her mother at a tender age, following which she was sent to Lagos to learn a trade.

Luck smiled on her as she grew to become a successful business woman.

She got blessed with three children – two boys and a girl – before her ailment started.

  • 600 screened for breast cancer in Ibadan

No fewer than 600 women were screened for breast cancer in Ibadan, Oyo State, courtesy of Shoprite.

Founder, Run for a cure Africa (RFCA), Ebele Mbanugo said one in five women checked their breasts regularly with many still ignorant of the danger signs.

She spoke during a breast screening programme at Palms Shopping Mall on Ring Road, Ibadan. It was organised by Shoprite in partnership with the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, to inaugurate the outlet.

She said: “Thousands of women are affected by breast cancer each and every year in Nigeria alone. While the disease has a high survival rate, detecting and treating the disease early is the key to surviving it.”

Mbanugo said more than 50 women were put on mammogram machine to check their breasts for the cancerous growths.

She expressed the for women to protect themselves from this dreadful disease, urging more awareness, especially for rural dwellers.

She said: “There are predictions by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) that cancer rates will soar by 70 per cent in 20 years. Yet, most Nigerians are neither aware of what cancer is, nor its risk factors or figures relating to cancer incidence. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.”

  • ‘Women with few children are prone to breast cancer’

A Professor of Surgery, Breast and Endocrine Division, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Professor Moses Momoh, Thursday stated that women who gave birth to between two or three children are more prone to develop breast cancer.

Prof. Momoh said women who gave birth to many children have lower risk of having breast cancer, than women who give birth to less children.

This, he said, was because women with many children would have their breast sucked more often and allow the women examined the breast.

He spoke while delivering a lecture at the 3rd edition of UBTH public lecture series, with the theme: ‘’ Reducing the Burden of Breast Cancer.”

Prof Momoh who is a former Commissioner for Health said there are increasing breast cancer patients in the low and middle income countries, like Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa.

He listed early signs and symptoms of breast cancer to include nipple retraction or distortion, breast skin changes, thickening like the orange peeling, painless lump in the breast, sores or ulcer in the breast that does not heal, swellings and nodes/seeds in the arm-pit, waist and bone pains with or without broken bones, enlarged liver and distended abdomen filled with fluid/water, paralysis from waist down when it spreads to the spine among many other signs.

Prof. Momoh outlined the causes to include family history, female gender, smoking, menarche and menopause, age at first delivery, regular abortion, obesity, hormone replacement therapy, birth control pills and many other causes.

The former Commissioner recommended free clinical breast examination, preventive mastectomy, free compulsory universal basic education, eradication of illiteracy and poverty, breast self-examination, awareness campaigns on a sustained basis of the disease and strengthening primary health care in all the 10,000 wards in Nigeria as a way for curbing breast cancer.

  • Boost for breast cancer campaign

    Boost for breast cancer campaign

To raise fund for breast cancer patients, a group of professional female photographers led by Yetunde Ayeni-Babaeko has held a photo exhibition at Goethe-Institut in Lagos.

Guests wore long faces on seeing the half nude pictures of breast cancer survivors, who had one of their breasts cut off. The photographers captured and recorded the aftermath of surviving cancer by these women in order to tell other women living with breast cancer that they too can survive.

The photographers include Yemi Disu, Koleosho Kikelomo, Damilola Kuku, Bisola Ijalana and Jokotade Oshomowo, who spoke through Ayeni-Babaeko at the event said that they are also using the exhibition to encourage women to go for test: “Because early dictation is one of the ways of fighting breast cancer. The theme of the exhibition is;Battle Scars. “Photographing these women have been a great experience for us, we are using this exhibition to bring you closer to the subject…I believe these pictures have touched each one of you present here today and is to inspire you to help these women,” they said.

“All the sales of these works will be taken to breast cancer foundation where the money will be distributed to the patients in order to enable them buy their drugs,” Ayeni-Babaeko stated. To them, stigma is one of the challenges those living with cancer suffer on a daily basis and the fear of death. Breast cancer has claimed the lives of many women because of ignorance.

However, the nude images were presented in a stylish way, preventing the audience from seeing the faces of the subjects. One of the photographs had a mirror on the face of subject; reflecting the face of anyone who gets closer to it. Putting the exhibition together costs the photographer two years of hard work just to make the project a reality.

Sebeccly Cancer Care and Support Centre, a charity foundation, one of the supporters of the exhibition said that Nigeria lacks the adequate equipments needed in battling cancer. The foundation believes that the exhibition will inspire the public to join them in fighting breast cancer. In line with target 5 of the World Cancer

Declaration, which is aimed at reducing stigma and dispelling the damaging myths and misconceptions, the foundation shared belief in raising awareness of cancer survivor and reducing stigma associated with cancer in Nigeria.

“With persistence high death rates caused by breast cancer, is it important to create awareness, advocate for better cancer care, raise funds to support cancer treatment and strengthen cancer care institutions.”

The fund raised at the exhibition will be donated to 1K4 Cancer project to support cancer patient on Sebeccly waiting list. The exhibition is also supported by The Perspective, Camara Studios and Goethe-Institut. The exhibition is still running and will close on March 29.

  • Breast cancer awareness training for Imo women

Breast cancer awareness training for Imo women

Mindful of the health dangers posed by breast cancer, Imo State women have been reminded of the importance of early detection of the dreaded disease to ensure proper care and cure.

The women converged on the Ahiajoku Convention Centre under the auspices of the Nneoma Women, another project of the wife of the Imo State governor Lady Nneoma Okorocha.

The one-day conference tagged “Woman Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” was attended by a large number of women from the 27 local government areas of the state, where issues bothering on health, economy, position and freedom of the womenfolk were extensively deliberated on.

Declaring the conference open, wife of Governor Okorocha said the essence was to assist women to deliberate on salient issues that will help them build a better society where women are no longer incapacitated due to ignorance, lack of collaboration and unity of purpose.

She described the Nneoma Women as an association of good-spirited women who came together to enhance the spiritual growth of their families and to create a medium for discovering and harnessing hidden talents among women as well as an appropriate channel of empowerment of Imo women, among other objectives.

In her lecture entitled “Breast Cancer: Early Detection Surely Saves Life,” Dr. (Mrs). Nzeribe Emily Akuabia noted that breast cancer is truly a deadly disease once it attacks any woman, even as she urged women to ensure a daily check of their breasts and constant screening for early detection for a cure.

Noting that the disease is more prevalent among the white people than the black ones, she said it kills the black people more than the white people who do not shy away from screening and early detection.

Speaking on the topic “The Woman: Salt of the Family, Prof. (Mrs.) G. G. Agulanna described good women as salt of the family who must refine and help their family members to achieve their potential as well as prevent the family or society from decay.

Another lecturer, Rev. Carol Ochemba who spoke on, “Change: A Necessity for Development,” stated that change is inevitable in man’s life. She called on women as leaders to help people to realise their identity and achieve their goals in life.

Dr. (Mrs.) Perpetua Chinwe Ifegbo, another guest lecturer who spoke on “Strengthening and Fostering Collaboration among Women: Roles, Challenges and Strategies” urged women to be united as a body in order to face the challenges of womanhood.

Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Anugom in her paper entitled “Nneoma: A Veritable Tool for Family Sustainability and Viable Generation Next” enjoined women to work towards being good mothers as that would help them to raise good children who will be the leaders of tomorrow.

  • Treatment of breast cancer in Alternative Medicine (11)

•Olusola Sowemimo shares her experience of the 41st convention of the cancer Control Society in Mexico

BARRING the unexpected, the curtain should fall today on this series. As a reminder, the series began on August 4…. To share with readers of this column a paper presented by FEMI KUSA at the maiden seminar of the College of Integrative Medicine held on August 1 and 2 at the Water Parks Hotel, Toyin Street, Lagos. It explored many of the possible causes of cancer and possible solutions to them, and cited many case studies of people world-wide who survived cancer, despite widely – held belief in orthodox medicine that cancer is unconquerable. This series, which is primarily intended to offer hope of survival to cancer- challenged people, grew a postscript of sort out of the experiences of OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO at the Cancer Control Society’s 41st Annual Convention in Mexico which she joyfully agreed to share in this column.

Today, the gentleman mentioned in the earlier parts of this series will return to Lagos from London where he has been resident since January in search of a cure for stage 4 colon cancer which had spread to the liver, one living and one kidney. OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO linked the wife to me. She got herbs I suggested from London health shops. He took them in the two weeks respite from chemotherapy. Two months after, the tumour shrank by about 25 per cent. And in another two months, his cancer blood markers dropped from 1,500 to 400 when shortly afterward his blood iron level dropped seriously, making him weak and faintly, and his doctor thought of blood transfusion, he choose, as advised, to try unsulphured blackstrap molasses and Beetroot tablets. He recovered quickly from anaemia to the amazement of his doctor. One of tablespoonful of Blackstrap molasses prudes about 40 per cent of an adult’s daily iron requirement. More importantly, the crude blackstrap molasses has been used to break tumours of all sorts.

In Benin City, we anxiously await a new PSA report in the case of a gentleman whose PSA has crashed from 164.7 to 113.4 and then to 4.7 (normal is 0-4). After a biopsy which suggested prostate cancer, his doctor offered chemotherapy and surgery to remove his testes. He declined and chose alternative therapies instead. Now, he knows a lot about helpful supplements such as Calamus Root, Zeolite AV, Stinging Nettle Root, Wheatgrass, Barley grass, Chroenergy, Amazon AF or CF, Pau d ‘Arco and Zine to mention a few.

Cancer does not spare children. Who knows what their mothers filled them up with in pregnancy? A question of garbage in, garbage out. After their birth, the world of these young ones is laden with sugar. Even their medicines. I saved my children from a popular children’s medicine which tastes no different from table sugar. They are surrounded by “soft drinks” and candies. Sugar thickens the blood and slows blood circulation. Researchers say one cube of sugar makes the immune system redundant for about six hours. Candida and other fungi, including bacteria and viruses, follow the tracks of sugar in the body. When a woman has a baby, I no longer offer money gift for the young one instead, I give LIQUID CHLOROPHYLL. This is to be added to the water and feed of the baby. It cleanses and builds the blood of everyone, baby or adult. Mrs. Chinyere Ogu will confirm this from the robust health of a baby whose mother she encouraged me to add liquid chlorophyll to the water and feed of the young one. So, the two parents who sought help this week for their children stricken with cancer should understand why liquid chlorophyll is among my suggestions. One of these children, aged seven years, has cancer in the elbow. The other, aged four years, has cancer of the kidney, and one kidney has been surgically removed. These are cases this column will support and track. Young people have the potential to bounce back powerfully. I lost track of a child in Ilorin who had blood cancer about 10 years ago. The parents were split over the treatment mode. While the mother preferred chemotherapy, the father would not hear of it. In the end, I advised a middle road approach. All we added to chemo then was Stinging Nettle, which the legendary Maria Treben of Austria employed successfully in the case of a child named Daniele. Daniela recovered. But the parents couldn’t stop her returning to junk food. The cancer relapsed… and she died. But for the fact of the evident remission confirmed by the parents and their admission of guilt in not putting their food down well enough on junk food, Maria Treben would have lost a massive press war which greeted Danela’s death, fuelled by her detractors on the other side of the medicine divide. Now let us quickly living to OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO…

On the last day of the 41st Annual Cancer Convention, I visited the registration desk of the Cancer Control Society. There was a lot of buzz about the visit to the Tijuana (pronounced as (tee-?-WAH-n?) Mexico Cancer Clinics. From the conversation around me, it was the reason some of the delegates were at the convention. Some people were eager to meet these doctors either for themselves or for loved ones who wished to be healed Some are carers of cancer patients while for some it was part of their study to become Naturopaths.

The schedule showed that we were going to depart the hotel at 7a.m, pick some others up on the way and return from Mexico at 11.45pm. I really needed the strength for this journey. I was also mindful of my unique ‘green’ passport and needed to be sure that my deep yearning to visit Mexico would not be truncated at the border. So, I made further enquiries and I was assured that, I would be allowed to go on the tour.

It was at an additional cost and I knew I just had to pay and go. I had read and heard some bad reviews on television about these hospitals and I intuitively sensed that, for some doctors to branch out and stick out their necks to heal people who have cancer in ways different from the norm, it had to be for reasons other than financial reward and I knew they would meet with a lot of opposition.

Even in less serious issues, medical practitioners are sometimes thrown off balance. I once had ulcer and I remembered that the alternative practitioner had given me a list of what to use and how to use them. I mentioned to a close doctor friend who knew of my struggle with ulcer. Her immediate reply was that the process did not add up for her. Guess what, I was cured of my ulcer and this was about 12 years ago.

I registered for the tour and knew I had to visit more booths at the exhibition and listen to more lectures, it was the last day of the convention.

There were many other exhibitors who had tools and gadgets to support healthy lifestyle. There were manufacturer agents for heavy duty juicing machines which maintained the enzymes of the fruits or vegetables, diffusers which helped to clean the air in the home, magnetised gadgets that drain out bad energy, cooking pots. The learning point is to stick to enamel. Our grandparents were right in cooking with their clay pots. There was David Young a flutist, who provided soft and soothing music both at his booth and sometimes at interludes.

The Braggs had a booth where they offered samples of their seasoning which is all natural as an incentive to stop using chemical laden seasonings. The lady I met at the booth was excited to know that their Vinegar is now popular in Nigeria.

I had to keep my appointment with Dr. Tsur-Tsair, NMD, Ph.d at Dr Chi’s booth. He diagnoses medical conditions through his Fingernail & Tongue Analysis. Trust me, what a one day test at the hospital will tell you this man will tell you through his analysis of few minutes. I had the result of my last full medical test with me and I was amazed at how the doctor was spot on with his analysis.

Do you know that your fingernails should have the moon at the bottom? He looked at my fingernails and shook his head. “You don’t have the moon”, he said. You needed to have seen my facial expression, I had always assumed any cracks, dark lines or dryness of my nails to my manicurist. I am wrong and the young lady deserves my apology. For they are indications of my health.

This Fingernail and Tongue Analysis is considered a quicker, more effective and non-invasive diagnostic technique that can be done singly or in combination with other conventional diagnostic tools or methods. It is based on a combination of Eastern and Western methodologies, with correlation between different bodily systems and two major physical markers: the fingernails and the tongue. Different herbs and botanicals are then incorporated as dietary supplements to help promote health and prevent physiological dysfunctions and complications.

Next, the doctor looked at my tongue and gave further diagnosis. Immediately after the analysis of my tongue, he asked to see my skin, ‘yes’ he said, the blemishes on my skin were not a surprise to him because my tongue had shown him all he needed to know. I bought relevant supplements for the identified needs and the good news is that the moon of my nails are gradually returning, my nails are beginning to shine and the strong dark lines are beginning to fade. Glad to have experienced a free consultation, I moved on.

I joined the crowd to watch a demonstration of a product called, ‘Miracle Salt(TM)’. For the demonstration, some top five brands of salt were used by mixing in each half a cup of water. They were tested for their alkalinity but hey all failed.

It would have been the most ideal salt. But unfortunately, it is very expensive and all one needs to do is put a little on the tongue, mix it with one’s saliva in the mouth for a second and then swallow. It immediately alkalinises the body, hydrates, mineralises, gently detoxifies and provides additional electrolytes and disinfects the mouth.

Miracle Salt is said to have originated from Oriental Folk remedies. This secretive method of “Cleaning (getting rid of toxins) Sea salt” has been known and handed down through the generations for thousands of years in the Orient. Until recently, this “Miracle Salt” had not been defined in scientific analysis, methods of production, or proper application.

Miracle Salt is toxin-free and full of minerals, herbs, and healing energy. It is good for:

    • stabilising irregular heartbeats and it is essential for the regulation of blood pressure

    • extraction of excess acidity from the cells in the body, particularly the brain cells

    • balancing the sugar levels in the blood

    • generation of hydroelectric energy in cells of the body

    • the nerve cells

    • absorption of food particles through the intestinal tract

    • clearance of the lungs of mucus plugs and sticky phlegm, particularly in asthma and cystic fibrosis

    • clearing up congestion of the sinuses

    • strong natural antihistamine

    • prevention of muscle cramps

It is highly recommended for cancer patients as cancer does not grow in alkaline environment.

In view of space, let’s accelerate to the Tijuana Mexico Visit. After a little hitch, we were on our way. Allow me digress and tell you that the Cancer Control Society started as a group of Friends who helped each other with complications arising from cancer and eventually metamorphosed to a society. You can feel the healthy bond among them.

I was privileged to sit next to Mary, a lady who is determined to return to the university for another four years to study Naturopathy. By the way, she offered me the ‘sacred apricot nuts’ which is supposed to be very good for cancer. It is not allowed to be sold in the stores so patients buy it online. It was my first time of seeing it and I ate it. It looks like a smaller version of almonds which is also good for the cancers that affect women. It comes with a strong warning to take just a handful at a time. Fresh juices and handmade cake (not baked) was served on the bus, Frank Cousineau was our tour guide.

Mary had also visited the Mexican clinics before so I was happy to leverage on her past experience. She also filled me in on the Doctor’s Forum, which was held the day before but I did not attend. The beauty of this forum I am told is that doctors sit down to discuss, argue and challenge themselves on the progress made or purported to be making on cancer. This takes a lot of maturity and commitment to want to genuinely heal patients and not send them to early graves.

The entry into Mexico went well. I probably spent the longest time among a busload of 45 persons and I was prepared. After turning my passport upside down, sideways and all manner of aerobics, it was returned to me. Relief! The Mexican Border has a very big, beautiful and newly built border.

Let me sound a note of warning. I am not a medical practitioner. I am only sharing the experiences of my visit to the hospitals. If you are interested in visiting these clinics, do your own analysis, visit their websites for more details, speak with those who have been to these hospitals and remember that people visit these hospitals at different stages of their cancer and healing processes. I would love to hear from you, drop a line atwww.cancergist.com. The purpose of this blog is for us to share important information on controlling cancer. Your story may save others.

On arrival at Mexico, our first visit was to Stella Maris Clinic at Hotel Lucerna where we met Dr. Gilberto Alvarez who made the presentation. The hospital has been in existence for over 20 years. In addition to cancer prevention programones, Dr. Alvarez offers complete diagnostic services, including chemo sensitivity tests, exams, complete labs, CT scans, MRIs and ultrasounds. His cancer protocols may include IVs (amigdalin or B17), Vitamin C, DMSO, chelation, IV ozone, immune-modulators, whole body hyperthermia, dendritic cell therapy, nutritional guidance and cancer vaccines.

The Hotel Lucerna is used as an outpatient facility, and patients receive a special discount there. The hotel uses only safe filtered water in their ice, beverage and food preparation. There are two cancer treatment packages, depending on the needs of the patient. The treatment is a minimum of 21 days.

This clinic claims that it has seen the net effect of radiation and chemotherapy weakening the very system that protects us from cancer, the immune system. Eventually cancer patients will be more vulnerable to the development of metastatic lesions in vital organs of the body.

They emphasise the importance in being well-informed regarding the disease itself and encourage patients to explore all the natural options in fighting “tumor cell resistance” as well as balancing the body’s own immune system.

According to Dr. Alvarez, the cancers that respond best to his treatment are breast, lung, prostate, brain, colon, and lymphomas. For more details check http://www.stellamarisclinic.com/index.html

The next visit was to International Bio Care Hospital and Clinic, headed by Rodrigo Rodriguez, M.D. (Medical Director.) He was quick to mention that there was no healing process they undertake without asking the Lord for help. The clinic has been practising for about 25 years.

  • Daily walk prevents breast cancer

    Daily walk prevents breast cancer

New research has found women who walk an hour every day can reduce their risk of developing breast cancer. Even more encouraging, more frequent and vigorous exercise was found to provide additional protection.

The study, published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention followed more than 73, 000 women over 17 years. Researchers found a 14 per cent reduced risk when compared to women with sedentary lifestyles.

Exercise consisting of over seven hours per week was associated with a 25 per cent reduced risk.

This is encouraging news for women who aren’t very active or sporty. “The nice message here is, you don’t have to go out and run a marathon to lower your breast cancer risk, …go for a nice, leisurely walk an hour a day to lower risk,” says Alpa Patel, senior epidemiologist.

Walking appears to help cut down the amount of body fat that is directly linked to cancer-stimulating hormones such as insulin and oestrogen. Being physically active can improve insulin control and burn fat in high-risk areas of the body. Excess fat around the waist may affect one’s breast cancer risk more than the same amount of fat around the hips or thighs.

Strength training (exercising with weights) is also beneficial to help burn off abdominal fat. Spot exercising, such as doing sit-ups, can tighten abdominal muscles, but is not an effective way to lose belly fat according to Harvard Medical School.

“Diet is also important. Pay attention to portion size, and emphasize complex carbohydrates (fruits, vegetables, and whole grains) and lean protein over simple carbohydrates such as white bread, refined-grain pasta, and sugary drinks,” they added.

Unhealthy saturated and trans fats have also been linked to abdominal obesity and one’s breast cancer risk. Saturated and trans fats are commonly found in highly processed foods that are often high in energy and low in essential nutrients.

All fats are not harmful to one’s health and are actually needed to lose weight, balance hormones and fight cancer. Unsaturated, or healthy fats are found in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats. These fats are found primarily in fish, plant oils, seeds and nuts – all of which have been
shown to lower one’s risk of developing breast cancer.

Drastically cutting the amount of energy in one’s diet, especially while engaging in regular exercise is not recommended. Too little units of energy can force the body into starvation mode, slowing one’s metabolism and ironically storing more fat around the mid-section.

The best weapon in overcoming breast cancer is the ability to prevent it from occurring in the first place. It’s important to apply proactive lifestyle habits in one’s life versus reactively trying to treat or reverse cancer when it could be too late.

  • Treatment of breast cancer in Alternative Medicine (10)

•Olusola Sowemimo shares her experience of the 41st convention of the cancer Control Society in Mexico.

In three months, a Nigerian’s prostate cancer PSA marker dropped from 164.7 to 113.4 to and then 4.7.

THIS series would have been rounded off today but for a number of events. Today, OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO would have led us all on a tour of Mexican Clinics which employ Alternative Medicine protocols to treat and cure their patients, some of them Nigerians. The tour will now take place on Thursday next week as her last postscript of sort to the series of columns which grew out of the presentation of FEMI KUSA at the inaugural seminar of the College of Integrative Medicine in Lagos.

The events I mentioned earlier on include:

    • I was woken from sleep last Monday morning by the telephone call of a reader of this column in Benin whose prostate cancer case study I have been mentioning. He ran a PSA of 164.7 three months ago against a 0 – 4 normal range of 0 – 4. His doctors wanted to remove the testes. He declined, and began Alternative Medicine Therapy. After a biopsy indicated prostate cancer. Last month, the PSA crashed to 131.4. From last Monday’s report, it was down to 4.7. He has promised to share his experience with other readers. Meanwhile, he will continue to take his herbal medicines for at least one year.

    • The request of some readers for more information about BILLY NEST, the 17-year-old boy who ran away from home because his doctor and parents insisted he take chemotherapy and radiation for his lymphatic system cancer. In the end, he used Alternative Medicine and got cured. Ironically, the man who gave him the natural protocol was jailed as a “quack” doctor! Billy Best appeared at the Cancer Control Society 41st Convention in Mexico to tell his story. When I told SOLA SOWEMIMO, who has been sharing her experience at this convention, about how exciting many readers had found the BILLY BEST aspect of her report, she filed today’s postscript, which is a newsletter on the convention by one of the editors of Cancer Control Society.

I have been associated with about three cases of lymphoma. About 12 years ago, Mrs Tina Adugbe mentioned to me the case of the wife of one of her clients who happened to be the wife of a journalist I knew. Adjusting her diet and adding some nutritional supplements to her diet, she overcame it. The second case was a gentleman who had Non Hodgins Lymphoma, a disorder of the lymphatic system which many people do not survive. At that time, knowledge of Candida and other yeasts and fungi, including mold, as a possible cause was still hazy or foggy. He had gone through many therapies in teaching hospitals with no signs of remission. But when they began to take anti-candida herbs, such as Amazon AF, before it disappeared from the Nigerian markets, with Amazon. Lympth Support, also no longer available, we noticed reductions in the sizes of his enlarged lympth nodes. How I wish we knew at that time of Zeolite AV (capsule or liquid), Paud Arco, Wheatgrass and Horsetail as potential tumour breakers. We knew of ESSIAC tea. But it was not readily available in Nigeria. Essiac, spelled backwards, is a code for CAISSE. Caisse was a nurse. She was given the formula for a cancer healing tea by an old monk who didn’t want to take the secret away with him to the so-called great beyond someday. I say so-called not because I do not believe the beyond exists. It does, like day and night on earth. I say so-called because many people, the spiritual bondage still pulled over their inner eyes and senses, do not have a faint idea of what goes on there and imagine it to be a fairy tale. Caisse was to give this formula to an American President stricken with cancer which he survived. This Non-Hodgkins lymphoma man and his wife dutifully measured the sizes of shrinking the growths every day.

Sometimes, a quarter or a half inch across was lost. Then, the medication got exhausted, and new ones were introduced, and the gains reversed. I lost track of him. The third case touched me. He was a man in his forties. He was introduced to me by Mrs. Folake Kuku, a friend to his sister. He lived in Enugu, where he received chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The therapy made him sick and he felt like running away. But wherever Mrs. Kuku sent him, Bell’s Cucurmin 2000x, an anti-inflammatory, and Bell’s Supreme Immune Booster, then new herbal supplements in the Nigerian market, and Maria Treben’s Sweedish Bitters, an equivalent of Essiac, his system calmed, his energy improved and he slept well. He had to come to Lagos and his diet was moderated. I spoke with his father and sister, a consultant medical doctor in England, who appreciated the therapy goals set for him, but nonetheless suggested he return to Enugu for his chemotherapy and radiation. I didn’t hear from him after that, Mrs. Kuku sobbed. When I asked after him.

There must be many cases of lymphatic system disorder around the world today that may benefit from the Billy Best experience, which is why another report on him is featured today.

    • Last week, I felt urged to reinforce the hope of cancer – challenged people for a cure from Mother Nature. One of my medical doctor friends, who incorporate Alternative Medicine protocols in his practice, asked me if I had heard of a medical doctor bad mouthing natural Medicine. His name rang a bell. The first time I knew of him was in a newspaper interview in which he said food supplements were causing kidney failure on a large scale and dissuading the public from consuming them. I hold no brief for food supplements. I do not suggest or consume food supplements that do not hold a safety record in folklore used back with scientific research validation. I ran a series of this column to explain that the kidneys may be failing more from white sugar and white flour consumption which attracts candida to the kidneys, pharmaceutical drugs, pesticides, food additives, heavy metal and plastic poisoning, to name a few cases.

Now, this anti-Nature doctor has been going to churches to campaign against Alternative Medicine. Lately, the churches have learned, as Dr, George Malkmus did in America, that prayers alone do not always bring cures. Do not misunderstand me. I believe in prayers and faith healing. But so do I in the Creation Plan. If the maker of your car tells you where to put the ignition key to start the engine but you put it elsewhere, the engine will not start. If God tells you what to eat to maintain your health, which He provided long before He sent you to this earth but you choose out of “too know” as we used to say in Nigeria, you get a result different from health. Stricken with cancer and refusing chemotherapy, Dr. Malkmus fasted himself back to health on fruit and vegetable juices. If this anti-Alternative Medicine doctor hasn’t heard about Dr. Malkhmus and many other cancer survivors, I may have to ask Mr. Charles Akintobi to give him a testimonial. Mr. Akintobi introduced to a friend of his, a top civil servant in Lagos, whose two sons in high school came down with kidney failure and was on dialysis. Some food supplements were suggested to him which included Bell’s Kidney Cleanse and Function Tea, Bragg’s Apple Cidel Vingar, Stinging Nettle Root, Kyolic Detox, Amazon Kidney Support (now out of circulation). To cut a long story short, these boys came off dialysis in record time to the amazement of their doctors. So impressed has been their daddy that he has offered the recipe to no fewer than two persons who, to my joy, regained health in their faulting kidneys.

OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO will round off this series next week. Meanwhile, it is my pleasure to invite ANDREW SCHOLBERG to share his experience of THE CANCER STORY THAT SHOOK AMERICA….

The Cancer story that shook America

    By Andrew Scholberg

This is the first of two reports about the Doctors’ Symposium of the Cancer Control Society, September 3, 2013, Sheraton Universal Hotel, University City, California.

One of the most compelling speakers at the Cancer Control Society’s 2013 Doctors’ Symposium was a remarkable cancer survivor named Billy Best. He told a dramatic story of taking responsibility for your own treatment. . .and getting well. Keep reading….

Cancer Cells Killed by Eating This…

There is a nutrient in your kitchen, right now, that acts like a “smart bomb” against cancer cells. It’s one of the main phytonutrients in a specific type of food. Researchers are hailing it as a breakthrough that offers real hope for preventing and defeating cancer.

A new research study has shown how it can selectively target and kill cancer cells, while leaving healthy cells alone. The findings are breakthrough for its potential use in cancer prevention and treatment.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s also: *A natural cholesterol fighter that brings bad levels down 30 per cent; *An effective method to lowering your blood pressure without harmful drugs; *A fruit that can fight Alzheimer’s Disease; * Dr. Victor Marchione, a.k.a the Food Doctor is revealing this and 16 other amazing “healing foods” in his newest report that you can see at: enews.cancerdefeated.com

Nearly 20 years ago, when Billy was a teenager, he came down with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. His parents, desperate to save the life of their son, relied on their doctor’s recommendation that chemotherapy was the appropriate treatment. They knew nothing about alternative treatment options.

After the fifth round of treatment, Billy’s tumors were shrinking. But the chemo made him feel as if any more chemo would kill him. Billy decided he was through with chemotherapy; he would rather let the cancer kill him than the chemo. But his doctor wouldn’t take no for an answer. He told Billy and his parents that quitting was not an option. Billy would have to continue taking chemo whether he wanted to or not.

Doctor causes Billy to run away from home

The doctor sternly warned: “Unless you do chemo and radiation, you’ll be dead in two years!”

But Billy had made up his mind. Chemotherapy made him sick, and he knew the doctor was giving him poison. That made no sense to him. Because his doctor insisted that he continue with the treatment, Billy felt he had no choice but to run away from home — and that’s what he did.

Before running away, Billy left a note to his parents. It said, “I love you. My leaving has nothing to do with you. I just can’t go back to the hospital for more chemotherapy.”

Billy decided to go to Texas, where he hid out for a couple of weeks. His running away to avoid chemotherapy made the news headlines nationwide. Through the news media, Billy’s parents pleaded for him to return. They said, “You don’t have to do chemo if you come home. So just come home.” He got the message and came home to die of cancer.

When Billy got home, he started getting letters from all over America. People who’d heard about his plight wrote to him, recommending various alternative cancer treatments and home remedies.

All that Billy knew about nutrition was Flintstones vitamins. In reading through the letters, he quickly got up to speed on the things he could do to improve his nutrition. He organised the huge stack of letters by subject, studied the letters, and gained confidence that he could get rid of his cancer without chemo or radiation.

Billy’s new treatment plan started with nutrition. He decided to cut out meat, dairy, flour, and sugar. He ate locally grown organic food as much as possible. Then he added Essiac tea, a Native American anti-cancer herbal remedy that originated in Canada. And he decided to use one other therapy: 714X, which directly treats the lymphatic system. He learned how to inject 714X directly into his lymph nodes.

Doctor reports Billy’s parents to the authorities

When Billy’s doctor found out about his “quack” treatment plan, he reported Billy’s parents to the authorities. But the authorities declined to put Billy into foster care or to force him to return to chemotherapy, on the grounds that Billy was nearly of legal age and had lived on his own during his time in Texas.

So Billy continued to eat organic food, drink Essiac tea, and give himself the 714X shots. And that was enough to get rid of his cancer. The editors of this newsletter have no personal experience with 714X and this is the first case study we’ve encountered. The remedy, however, is well known. It’s possible that one, two or all three of the therapies Billy chose were responsible for his recovery.

Because of the publicity about Billy’s running away from home, his recovery from cancer by natural means caused a media sensation. He went on TV and appeared on such popular programs as “Good Morning America.” Everyone was interested in his story. (This was before the drug companies started sponsoring news broadcasts. Now that the drug companies sponsor so many television and radio programs, a story like Billy’s is much less likely to be publicised in mainstream news outlets.)

Suddenly, Billy started getting letters from people asking for his advice on how to get rid of their cancer. Ironically, just a short time earlier he had known nothing about the subject and was getting advice from others. Now other people considered him the authority and were asking for his advice. He was glad to help others in any way he could.

Eighteen years ago, Billy stood at the podium of the annual Cancer Control Convention and told the audience his story. He also wrote a book, The Billy Best Story: Beating Cancer with Alternative Medicine. Incidentally, Billy said the man who helped him find 714X was thrown into prison. The government frowns on alternative treatments such as 714X and much prefers that cancer patients get chemo and radiation.

“Is the prostate cancer like a pitbull or a poodle?”

Another speaker at this year’s Cancer Control Society convention made a big impression. One of America’s top alternative doctors for prostate cancer is PhranqTamburri, N.M.D. The three initials stands for Naturopathic Medical Doctor. Dr. Tamburri is the director of a clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, where he sees cancer patients from all over the world.

Dr. Tamburri emphasised that when it comes to cancer treatment, one size does NOT fit all. He customises the cancer treatment for each patient, based on what he observes about the patient and the cancer. His strategy for treating cancer depends on the character of the individual case.

Dr. Tamburri said, “Don’t just nuke the cancer the minute you see it. If you saw a tiger in your back yard, you’d shoot it. But if you take a safari and watch tigers in their natural surroundings, they yawn; they stretch, and do other such things. You get to observe them. At our practice we observe the cancer to see how it is. Is your cancer a pitbull or a poodle? No test will tell you that. When a patient flies in, we do a three-hour assessment with him so we can assess where he is on the bell curve.”

  • Treatment of breast cancer in Alternative Medicine (9)

•Olusola Sowemimo shares her experience of the 41st convention of the cancer Control Society in Mexico:

BEGUN nine Thursdays ago, simply to tell cancer – challenged people they can overcome this disease which many doctors assert is insurmountable, today’s feature of some cancer survivors should persuade the Doubting Thomases that: “neither drugs nor injections, but the right kinds of foods and drinks bring lasting health.”

I do not know if I got the quotation right. I read it for the first time in 1977 in THE GRAIL MESSAGE, where the author addresses the subject of care of the healthy physical human body. That means the body should not be left uncared for till it falls ill, or apart. Along with the suggestion of the author that cancer cannot grow in a human body in which the blood is well composed and the liver is optimally healthy, I developed a strong conviction in the 1980s that cancer is curable.

So, when Dr. Isaac Ayodele, Dr. Gilbert Ngige and Dr. Emmanso Emobong invited me to give one of the inaugural lectures of their College of Integrative medicine held on August 1 and 2 this year at the Water Parks in Ikeja, Lagos, I was fascinated by the subject…Cancer therapy in Alternative Medicine. The College will soon renewed Integrative Medicine research College

That presentation was serialised in this column for seven Thursdays, discussing the possible causes of cancer and their possible cures, and citing three Nigerian case studies. In one of them, PSA, a prostate cancer marker, dropped from 164.7 to 114.3 (normal is 0 – 4). In another, stage 4 (i.e terminal) colon cancer shrank by 25 percent and blood markers fell from 1,400 to 500. While these cases and the third, breast cancer, were being observed OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO, a natural health lover and avid reader of this column got wind of the 41st convention of the CANCER CONTROL SOCIETY which was to take place in Mexico from August 31 till the end of the first week of September. I persuaded her to attend. Today marks the third Thursday she has been sharing her experiences of that convention. Last Thursday, she mentioned THE GUARDIAN ANGEL, a revolutionary acupuncture hand massage devise which has sold millions of units worldwide for its ability to stimulate blood circulation, hormone and enzyme production, boost immunity, promote sleep, ease arthritis, inflammation, pain and a host of health promoting events. The public response to this product has been tremendous. But Sola Sowemimo is a very private person, even though a public spirited woman and has, accordingly, not yielded to pressure to expose her telephone or email address. She has promised nonetheless to start a blog where related matters will be addressed. Meanwhile, this column will attend to all enquiries on her behalf. Today OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO provides links to many cancer survivors she met and related with at the convention, including a boy stricken with cancer who fled from home when his parents tried to force chemotherapy down his throat. His case became a legal and media issue. In the end, he used Alternative Medicine and… survived his cancer. OLUSOLA SOWEMIMO writes…

Cancerthrivors. This is a new word I added to my vocabulary at the convention. I met so many people who have survived their different cancers and are now thriving, hence the word ‘Cancerthrivors’. It is amazing that they all have one thing that runs through their stories, the will to survive on alternative means and thrive after their cancer experience. Meet them:

Billy Best – In 1974, at 16, he gained national attention when he ran away from home to avoid chemotherapy. He had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. For personal reasons, he was against chemotherapy but, as a minor, he had no legal decision-making power over his own fate. Against his better judgment, Billy began the standard treatment regimen.

After enduring a few rounds of chemo, Billy knew in his heart that this ‘medicine’ with its harsh side effect was not for him. He decided that he would rather live out his life than endure it. He packed his bag and fled from home.

His story gained media attention and generated support from the public. It was the promise of Alternative medicine that convinced Billy to return home and seek out the therapies he could live with. As he and his family reconciled and mapped out his new health regimen, the first step was to make significant nutritional changes to his diet – eliminating red meat, dairy products, white flour and sugar. He then added daily doses of vitamins and supplements, drank Essiac tea, and finally began injections of 714X (made up mostly of camphor, nitrogen) an immune system-boosting treatment that he obtained from Canada.

When Billy learnt he was cancer-free, he said ‘That’s what I expected from the beginning, I always had faith in this choice of treatments. The only drawback is that everyone doesn’t know about it. These things do work. It’s too bad so many people think chemotherapy is the only way to cure cancer’

His mom Susan added, ‘There are lots of choices people can make’

Billy continues to speak on his cancer journey and against the tyrannical cancer authorities. He advocates that people be free to choose their healing method. Billy also affirmed that it was his basic human right to choose his preferred mode of healing.

Carl Helvie, R,N., Dr.P.H. a nurse who holds a Masters in Public Health and Doctorate in Public Health both from John Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland) and has over 60 years’ experience as a nurse practitioner, educator, author and more.

He has survived lung cancer for 38 years. He had been given six months to live by his doctor but he used natural interventions and has stuck to a modified holistic lifestyle after his recovery. He has avoided a recurrence of cancer and, at 81, he has no chronic disease and he is not on any prescribed medications.

Dr Helvie caught my attention when he said, ’I listen to the Lord always’, he continues, ‘I pray for guidance in all I do’, He said, he avoids, cow’s milk (there are now substitutes such as almond milk, hazelnut milk and many others), cheese and no peanuts for him because of the high protein. One of the alternative medications that worked for him was Vitamin B17 but the doctor who treated him with it at the time had his licence withdrawn by the authorities 53 years after his own healing.

He says there are multiple factors that cause cancer in each patient but one thing he advocates to the over 60 cancer patients he meets a month is to try to rid themselves of all ‘negative energy and bad thought forms’. He said, one must be ‘medically intuitive’ when dealing with any illness. He further said when he wakes up in the morning, part of his prayer is ‘Angels and beings of Light, protect me this day. And at night he says ‘all negative energy and thought forms, be removed from me and install positive thoughts’. He said he has learnt to always call on his helpers.

He shared two incidents with us. On an occasion, there was flood in the area where he lived and he called on his ‘angels’ to move this water away from his house and he had just a slight brush with the flood. The second story was about how he had checked into the hotel for a speaking engagement the next day. The guests in the next room started making so much noise that he could not sleep. He said he thought of calling the front desk to complain, then he decided to call on his ‘angel’ to help him lower the noise or eliminate it completely. In just a few minutes, the noise went down completely. He said experiences like this may appear trivial to some but they made his life a pure bliss. He said some of his professional colleagues are always surprised to know that he believes in ‘angels’.

He considers himself as spiritual, not religious, and now dedicates his life to working with others.

He published his secret to overcoming lung cancer in his book, ‘You Can Beat Lung Cancer: Using Alternative/Integrative Interventions, published in November, last year. For further details, visit www.HolisticHealthShow.com and www.BeatLungCancer.net.

Rick Hill, an author and patient, was a very friendly and jovial man who smiled a lot. He has every reason to do so, for he survived cancer. He spoke on ‘My Recovery From Testicular Cancer’.

In 1974, Rick was diagnosed at the Rochester, New York Mayo Clinic with stage 3 Embryonal Cell Carcinoma that began as a testicular cancer but quickly spread to his lymphatic system and was systemic. He was offered Actinomycin chemotherapy and was scheduled to have it. He was encouraged to bring his family into Rochester to say his goodbyes. While preparing to go for chemo, he learned about the ‘Oasis of Hope’ in Tijuana (pronounced Tiuwana) from a pastor friend, decided not to have the chemo and left right away for Oasis of Hope (I shall dwell more on the cancer hospitals next week).

After his full recovery, Rick became a talk-show host and he began working on an ozone air purifier, for which he was granted patent for co-inventing but sold his patent to Shaklee Corporation. The ozone machine, reduce mold, bacteria and virus.

Rick started visiting Oasis of Hope to and volunteered to do nutritional cooking shows for the patients and conducts New Patient Orientation. We had a very healthy lunch at Oasis when we visited. The food was all organic, very tasty and dessert was tapioca very nicely presented. After cancer one cannot afford to eat otherwise.

Rick is the author of ‘Cancer Conundrum which tells the inspiring story of how he beat cancer without chemotherapy or radiation. Tells of his journey through, healthy foods, juicers and colonics. He is now the Director of Admissions for Oasis of Hope and can be reached 619-690-8424 or 888-500-4673. His personal email is rhill@oasisofhope.com.

Susan Moss, a Cancerthrivor, gave a lecture titled, ‘Keep Your Breasts’. She started the lecture by asking ‘Was Angelina Jolie right in removing her breasts? The audience shouted a resounding NO! Susan said, removing the breast does not stop cancer so Angelina had not overcome cancer in reality. Susan healed her Breast and Uterine cancer 22 years ago on the all-natural MOTEP programme which she compiled. Susan researched all the Cancer Diets and developed her own version of a cancer fighting diet low in fat, low salt, devoid of sugar with raw foods, juices and fruits and veggies. She incorporates carrots (Vit A), Barley (Vit B17-laetril), Citrus (Vit C) along with other cancer fighting foods into her diet.

MOTEP means Marathon Olympic Tumour Eradication and Prevention Program. Through this regime she accomplished a ‘self-lumpectomy’ (dissolving the tumour naturally) and healed herself using only inexpensive and non-toxic therapies. Her very close friend was ravaged by her medical treatment following her doctor’s advice and passed away at 38 years. Susan knew her friend’s option was not an option for her and this experience made her write the book ‘Keep Your Breasts with a follow up ‘Survive Cancer’. She dedicated the book to her friend.

Susan said at the lecture that the ability to heal yourself is in your whole system. If you have doubts then it will be difficult to be healed. She said resisting the advice of the medical system when you are in a state of fear takes courage. It also takes discipline, determination and a strong belief in the body’s ability to heal itself. She encourages cancer patients to write down ten reasons why they want to live. For more see susanhmoss.com

Tamara St. John had ignored her cancer to get her MBA from university. In 2009 after using alternative therapies to cure her cancer, she wrote the book ‘Defeat Cancer Now’. In the book she listed the factors that worked for her: natural nutrition, detoxification, Budwig, Apricot kernels, Enzymes, exercise and more. There was something that Tamara said which struck me. She said after she tested cancer free, she went back to her old eating habits and the cancer returned with a vengeance. She quickly reverted to her healthy habits and today she’s free.

Dr Paul Ling Tai a Podiatric Surgeon, very jovial, gave a very interesting lecture on ‘8 Powerful Secrets to Anti-Aging’. At 67, he looked like he was in his late 40s to many of us. He spoke about the many things he is capable of doing at 67 which he says is just a number. To him, there is nothing like ‘old age’. If you live a healthy life, you will not age, he advises people to watch their nutrition, do exercises and augment their diet with supplements. He strongly advises against eating meals with alkaline water.

He advocates that people will rediscover their youth using the Cordyceps mushroom which he says is nature’s gift to mankind because it reverses aging, heals diseases, is good for overcoming depression and it restores health and vitality.

He emphasised that we must know our ‘biological age’. Know the imbalance in our bodies. He asks, what do you eat that you are actually allergic to ? He said Antioxidants are very good for the body, Vitamin B12 is good and he sounded a note of caution that Homocysteine is what people should look out for not cholesterol.

Homocysteine is an amino acid, which is now considered a risk factor in several diseases. High levels of homocysteine is now linked to increased risk of the development of some diseases and death from some common conditions. Some of these are osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack, stroke, alzheimer’s, complications from pregnancy, demetia, diabetes, slow metabolism, reduced appetite and more. Measured from the blood, homocysteine levels are a highly accurate way to determine current state of health and to also predict future predispositions to illnesses later on in life.

If high, homocystane can be reduced by eating the right foods, taking nutritional supplements. He emphasised the need to take supplements (including those from mushrooms), many of them have been used by those who know for very many years. Some of them have been known to slow the ageing of the skin and prevent cancers. Another thing to look out for is Vitamin D deficiency and warned that Vitamin A should not be taken together with Vitamin D.

Dr Paul Ling Tai said there was so much opposition from government to alternative medicine because of selfish agendas. He said he was once sued by the government and he sued in return back and won the case. He’s known as the ‘Doctor’s Doctor’ and ‘Doctor of last resort’ as he has been consulted on countless difficult cases all over the world. For more see http://www.healthsecretsusa.com/ and http://www.homocysteine.org.uk

Back to my visits to the exhibition stand, I had an interesting experience at a booth that displayed Portable Relax Saunas. I had watched people go in and come out of the sauna, all dressed up. Each time one person or the other beckons at me to give it a try. Since the stand was next to that of TLC, the crystal lady who I had made friends with, she was able to convince me by telling me of how she has been using hers for the last five years. I thought, why not and had my moment with the relax sauna.

It came with a chair so I sat inside and I was zipped up. I felt the heat on my body relax and in the other sauna next to me sat Angie. She said she had stage 4 cancer of the brain. After the chemotherapy and radiation, she is now in remission but her body suffered so much, her menstrual period had stopped for four years. She said she sat inside the booth the previous day and she was pleasantly shocked when her periods returned. She had come to get a free use of it and to buy one to take home. The exhibitor asked if he could record Angie’s testimony and she promptly agreed.

Another lady met us rejoicing with Angie and she also said her arthritis and stiff neck were all gone, she said ‘this is a miracle, I can move now’.

TLC explained that it is very good for maintaining the body after the side effects of chemotherapy.

As usual Lunch is always exciting. I see different kinds of meals and many are gracious enough to allow me take photographs of these colourful organic meals.

At one of the lunch times, I sat next to Amber, who only discovered she has triple negative breast cancer on July 11. It is a cancer that is more common in Africans American but Amber is white. She had surgery for lumpectomy on July 24, the week before the convention opened, had her first chemo on July 31 and then heard about the convention. She was attending the convention to learn how to heal without chemotherapy. In her words, she said, ‘I have sustained the consciousness that the cancer is to be overcome’. I wished her well and prayed that she gets all the help she needs.

I had also opted for a Thermography screening. Thermography is a non-invasive, non-contact tool that uses the heat from your body to aid in making diagnosis of a host of health care conditions. Thermography is completely safe and uses no radiation. While waiting for my turn, the lady who sat next to me had asked why I was there and I had answered that it was curiosity and she said she had a number of lumps some time ago and her alternative health expert advised her to stop using birth control pills, now all the lumps are gone. She was there for the thermography to reconfirm.
