    Bridge Academies’ pupils excel in national exams

    pupils of Bridge International Academies’ have come top in the National Common Entrance Examination for six consecutive years.
    This feat, the school noted, shows its commitment to giving children quality education.
    Akodu Akinola is the top pupil, with 198. His achievement is a testament to Bridge’s innovative teaching methods and curriculum.
    “We are proud of Akinola and others who demonstrated academic excellence,” said Foyinsola Akinjayeju, managing director of Bridge in Nigeria. “This achievement reflects the efforts of our pupils, teachers, and staff who strive for excellence every day.”
    Alima Osunfowora got 185 to become top female pupil. Ndu Ziva and Oyekan Ezekiel came third with a score of 179.
    “The gender balance of our top scorers illustrates our commitment to equity, such that boys and girls enjoy equal opportunity,” Akinjayeju added.
    “I am excited being the Overall Best Performer. I thank my teachers and parents for supporting me on this journey,” Akinola noted.
    Since 2019, Bridge pupils have excelled in the exam, securing top positions in national rankings and getting admitted to top secondary schools in Nigeria. This reaffirms the effectiveness of Bridge’s high-quality teaching, data-driven instruction, and personalised learning.

    Happy Feet Initiative: Bridge Academies, Hommaston, Zabhary bring joy to children in Lagos

    Bridge International Academies, a leading network of community schools that leverage technology to accelerate learning gains for children in underserved communities has announced an exciting corporate social responsibility initiative, ‘Happy Feet,’ aimed at making a lasting impact in the lives of some of its pupils.

    The programme is designed to create a lasting positive impact in the lives of some of its pupils.

    Through a partnership with Hommaston Limited and Zabhary Footwears, Bridge International Academies is launching the ‘Happy Feet’ program that will provide 300 pupils with free, high-quality school shoes.

    Hommaston Limited, an indigenous training organisation renowned for its world-class workforce competency enhancement and performance-focused training, generously financed this initiative in concert with Zabhary, a respected indigenous shoe-making company that manufactures the shoes and will make a partial match to Hommaston’s contribution, to benefit even more children.

    Bridge International Academies, Hommaston Limited, and Zabhary Shoes believe in the transformative power of education, and the ‘Happy Feet’ initiative is a testament to that fact.

    Taiwo Soyannwo, Co-Founder at Hommaston Limited said: “The initiative is also our way of giving back to society. At Hommaston, we are trying to build capacity and invest in the next generation. We thought it would be a great thing for these children to start their learning journey at Bridge International Academies where they get quality education while we provide them with some level of comfort by financing the supply of 200 pairs of good quality shoes at no cost to the pupils. We will be interacting with them after their university education so why not be part of their entire journey.”

    Hilary Ndeze, the Founder of Zabhary Footwears mentioned that the initiative was aimed at making many more children happy which was why the brand contributed an additional 100 pairs of shoes to pupils at Bridge International Academies.

    He said: “Together, we are fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among the underprivileged children who represent the future of our nation. We are happy to support Hommaston and Bridge International Academies to ensure more children are happy.”

    By ensuring that Bridge pupils have comfortable, durable, and appropriate footwear for their educational journey, the initiative aims to address critical needs while also helping them focus on learning and personal development. This initiative aligns perfectly with Bridge International Academies’ mission to make quality education accessible to all children, regardless of their economic circumstances. Bridge International Academies operates schools where every child, regardless of their socio-economic background, gender, age, etc has access to equal opportunities.

  • Bridge Academies institutes teachers’ awards

    Starting from this month, Bridge International Academies has begun assessing teachers ahead of an award that would be presented next year during the World Teachers’ Day.

    Unveiling the awards at an event to celebrate teachers at the Bridge International Academies office in Yaba, Lagos, People Director, Bridge International Academies, Mrs Ibukun Igbinosa, said the awards would recognise teachers in various categories.

    She said Bridge Academy, which runs a chain of low-cost private schools that promise quality education service delivery leveraging technology, instituted the awards to celebrate recognise its teachers who are behind the school’s success.

    “Bridge teachers are star-studded teachers.  We want to celebrate teachers who have gone the whole 12 yards.  We are launching the Bridge Teachers’ Award 2020.  But we will start to collect the data now.  Some of our teachers are ministers, pastors in their classes and we don’t want their good work to go to waste.

    “We have chosen to celebrate and reward the people who are putting their head and heart into doing this job,” she said.

    Some of the categories for the awards are: best Bridge teacher; most dedicated teacher; long service award; most outstanding teacher; best extra-curricular teacher; best academic outcomes teacher; outstanding school leader; and most outstanding Early Childhood Development (ECD) teacher.

    “We are watching you and the judgment day is next year.  This will be happening all around the world where Bridge Schools exist,” she added.

    At the event, some pupils from some of the Bridge Schools presented songs and recitations to celebrate the teachers.  They also put their teachers on the hot seat – asking them to answer questions based on the primary school curriculum.

    The programme also featured a talk by popular speaker, Rotimi Eyitayo, who underscored the need for policy that would make the teaching profession attractive.

    On his part, the Managing Director, Bridge International Academies, Mr Dapo Olarinmoye, said teachers needed the right training to be effective.

    “There are several children who cannot read or write, but if teachers are given the right training, the children will be better for it,” he said.

    Sharing testimony of the impact of Bridge School, Mrs Maryjane Ikeakaonwu of Bridge School, Daddy Savage Academy, Fagba, said the ideals she taught her pupils in school helped her when she participated in the first- ever Reality TV show for teachers in Nigeria held in August.

    “My experience in the house was amazing.  What motivated me to participate were these pupils,” she said.
